Root HTCDev.com Unlock - Perm Root - Amon Ra or CWM Recovery

Not a stupid question.
HTC bootloaders have revision numbers - they come in specific versions in other words.
It's entirely possible (and highly likely) that the reason this works is that the version of bootloader on the Rezound today is matching that with other HTC phones that the HTCdev.com method will unlock.
If Verizon kicks and asks HTC to change your bootloader version so the HTCdev unlock stops working, the two of them can get together and make that happen via an over the air (OTA) update - and you'll be stuck.
Hence my advice - avoid OTA updates effective now, if you want to unlock your bootloader with this method.

what he is saying is that if you want to keep this alive on your phone don't take any future system updates that VZW may and try to push to you. Often times they will push an update that will break the prior unlocking process....aka patch the exploit/hole that made root/unlock possible.

This is a brand new development for the Rezound. Details are still coming out on what works and how - stay tuned!
Meanwhile - temp root is known to work, some are claiming they have perm root but are not posting their steps for others to verify.
I predict that within the next 24 to 48 hours, lots of exciting answers to these questions will be forthcoming.
Until perm root is confirmed your best bet is temp root and this -

homescreen -> Menu -> Settings -> System updates -> HTC software update -> uncheck Scheduled check
That's the standard HTC path, so may vary slightly on the Rezound.

The real Zergrush should get you rooted permanently. I've restarted and battery pulled several times just to be sure. Confirmed also on XDA.

I so missed your question in with everything else. The answer is unfortunately no. We need CWM or another recovery to be able to do a nandroid backup. Remember this, that unless you're in recovery, you're on a running filesystem and that can't be backed up. So we're getting there...inching ever closer by the day. 'til then, enjoy permanent root/bloat removal, and even some undervolting if you like courtesy of setCPU.

Yes. I'm going to ask Scott to update cleantool, so that it's REMOVING bloat instead of DISABLING it. I know he's also trying to put out CleanROM

in your opinion what is the likely hood of bricking a device at this point if someone new to rooting is doing this and trying to do bloat removal and UV'ing?
I just always like to throw a PSA out during times like this when Root/Unlock are first being found to prevent some people from bricking their device if there is a high chance of it. A lot of that hinges on us not having an official CWM yet.

Perm root works perfectly for me, but I have heard that BT won't work with this method. I don't use BT so it doesn't concern me.

Same here i can enable and disable BT. Since I don't currently have any BT devices at my disposal to thoroughly check BT status, I didn't want to confirm or deny the use of BT through this root method.
