Eris to v2.x, when?

Anybody else catch HTC's tweet to someone that inquired about issues with his Eris? (haven't read too far back. in class and posting. just thought this was a tasty tid-bit.)

From HTC's twitter:
HTC said:
@atWilliam Have you installed the OTA update(s) that have been pushed thus far? or is in the original version?

So I guess HTC is aware that an OTA update WAS in fact pushed out?... All our speculation is all over the spectrum.

Well, this ought to cool the demanding of an early release. There were people who reported issues with the upgrade. Some had their phone's reset to factory and even had their SD cards wiped...

Does that sound like something you wanna deal with?

Is it being tested? Yes

Is screaming for an early release going to do anything? No

I do have a good feeling that it's not going to be THAT much longer till they announce OTA's. And for the majority of users, the wait is going to be worth it :)

Well NKT, actually yes.

Because first you should always back up your data externally to the device when you upgrade an OS, and second if my settings don't get erased during an upgrade i generally count myself lucky. It will take about 10 minutes to put it right again if i backed my data up to my an external unconnected drive as i should. And I would have a cool new UI so i would want to redo my settings anyway.

Sorry to bring your hopes back down...but they're just referring to the 3 that have already been released. Not the rumored 2.1 OTA release....they're asking about the other ones.

i just wanted to write in big letters

LOL thank you for this Jrzdroid. can I get one of those fans for this fire that just will not go out?
I love speculation!

Was just at a Verizon store in Canton, MI (trudging through the 8 inches of snow we just got...) The associate I normally talk to whom I've found to be fairly knowledgeable, and techy himself, said that they typically get e-mail when something like a release gets rolled out. He checked - no e-mail as of yet. So still more waiting...

ugh canton, the great stripmall of the midwest. :)

Very true, but a poorly tested phone can kill business. Verizon has a good reputation for customer service for a reason. Testing phones to make sure they work and aren't going to piss off an entire group of customers is a part of that.

Isn't this an OXYMORON Like Military Intelligence? Verizon and good reputation for customer service?
