Hyperion/Mugen batteries?

JonKimJV

Newbie
I'm looking for extra batteries for the Skyrocket and came across these batteries by Hyperion on ebay. Are these chinese batteries or are they a good replacement to the stock Samsung batteries? It comes with a chinese-made battery charger but would that affect anything?

Are Mugen batteries good or better than the Hyperion ones? Can you also suggest other battery brands that are good and won't explode? Thanks.

I just received 3 1950mah chinese batteries today. I will let you know how it goes.

While not quite the same, I've used Hyperion LiPo's (Cell batts are Li Ion) in my hobby grade RC cars that I race (not radio shack or toys r us toy RC cars). Hyperion also makes one of the best chargers out there for RC racers. In that respect Hyperion is a good buy.

In the ebay auction, it comes with 2 Hyperion batteries and a random chinese charger. If the Hyperion batteries are good then what about the chinese charger? Can that have any affect on anything?

It shouldnt. i have uet to have an issue with one.

Cradles on the other hand have a high failure rate.

So far my batteries are doing well but i will update after a few charging cycles.

These were $15 or so for three. all came from china and took almost three weeks to arrive

What brands are your batteries? And if the chinese charger doesn't affect anything then it's a good idea to buy those 2 Hyperion batteries with the chinese charger right?

Indeed it is.

These dont really have a name. just generic made in china batteries

I haven't hunted around much, but I do recall seeing reports of those "non-branded" Chinese batteries being pretty bad. Not only short "life," as in unable to accept a charge after only about three months use, but also causing issues in the devices (reboots, screen anomalies, etc).

I'd steer clear of them and hang in there with name brands.

It is always a possibity.

3 yrs tho and I have had one bad battery. It worked, however once it reached about 15% it would drain 1-3 % per minute.

I would say thst if one is truly concerned ...best to stick with stock replacements. they are not much more.

All this being said, 95% of the batteries on the market are made in china....5% of them just have better manufacturing standards.

Are Mugen batteries any better than the chinese ones then? Also, just so im 100% sure, are Hyperion batteries a good branded one or is it basically a "no-brand"?

both are well known brands, I have read of both having failures.

personally I spend the least I can on batteries, but multiple, and throw out the bad.

I'm weird tho

I may go this route...

Call me crazy but I don't think those are real. They come from China and one legit battery is $40? Why would anyone sell 3 for $12?

I buy lots of crazy deals from china.

Mine were 3 for 15 and we are getting 19 hours with heavy use.

Sure can.

The only drawback is that if we ever get nfc enabled...the after market batteries do not have it

Random, only semi-related question. How did you get the battery meter readout in the notification bar to change?

I have the stock one that came up when I first got the phone that is just a green battery and I can't get it to go away or change. I have battery indicator installed, and I don't feel like I need to battery icons on the notification bar.

I am rooted and running custom software that includes that battery meter

Provided they are, in fact, Hyperion batteries. I've found the Chinese will stick whatever label they like on anything.
