Help anyone else seeing the signal bars completely disappear?

I think it's a bit absurd to call a rezound a "downgrade" just because YOU happen to believe the nexus is better. I have news for you, there are plenty of people who find the rezound an awesome device which has no issues with 4g nor video playback issues. I felt the change from the nexus to the rezound was a complete upgrade and I've had no issues with 4g, 3g or wifi in places I had constant issues with the Nexus. I am not speaking for everyone, only myself and others who have switched and seen what a difference a good radio makes. I honestly hope the nexus issues get worked out, I wish you all luck. I, for one, am quite happy with my "downgrade" tyvm.

you're missing the point. when verizon's exchange server is malfunctioning, it only affects certain phones, and usually the most widely used ones.

exchanging to the rezound, which uses an older operating system and has an archaic skin (sense), and is very laggy is clearly a downgrade.

however, you can justify your purchase to yourself however you like, whatever lets you sleep at night.

Maybe. I can only speak to my own personal experience. Tried TWO Nexuses, both wouldn't let me make phone calls when I wanted to. Under similar circumstances, the Rezound has not had a problem maintaining a signal.

So, based on that experience I made a choice. Believe me, I really, really wanted to love the Nexus and I still think it's the nicest looking device with the best UI available right now. But as an actual phone...not so much.

I said it over in the Rezound sub-forum and I'll say it here, I'd gladly go back to the Nexus if I could be sure I wouldn't be losing service constantly and having to wait 10-15 minutes for the switch to 3G and/or having to toggle in and out of network and then airplane modes to force a 3G signal. But I'm not going to wait for the issues to be resolved when the Rezound works as I expect a phone to right out of the box. Heck, I could even overlook some of the other issues with the Nexus so long as I could use the thing reliably.

Your "downgrade" comment is acknowledged, but given that in six months all of the phones we're talking about right now will be yesterday's tech it kind of seems a little silly.

I certainly don't have any insight into Verizon phone sales, but if you think there are more Nexus' in service than Razr+Rezound combined, you are really oblivious.

First of all, the "archaic skin" is your opinion. Relative to previous sense versions, it's quite a change, so to call it "archaic" is 100% your opinion. Is it different from ICS or even based on GB not ICS? Um, sure. But if you think the Nexus will stand alone with ICS and being the forefront of Android technology for long, you obviously have no idea how the Android market works.

It's not laggy at all for me. Have you actually used a Rezound, or are you just spouting regurgitated BS like others? It's quite snappy and in many ways is more usable than ICS for me (because ICS has some kinks to iron out and inconsistencies to address).

I'm not justifying anything to myself. If anything, I was trying to convince myself to keep the Nexus, but the fact of the matter is the radio is performing like crap (currently, who knows if an update will fix it or not) and the screen has issues (for me and others who expect a quality video playback experience from a phone). I loved everything else about the phone, but for me if it can't a) keep a signal and b) playback video without artifacts, then I'll take a "downgrade" Rezound every day. I was hesitant to exchange for the Rezound, in fact I went twice and decided to give it another try. The fact of the matter is, I am REALLY glad I decided to give the Rezound a shot, because it's an excellent phone and I have had ZERO issues with 4G/3G/wifi in places where I had numerous connection issues with the Nexus. Tell me I'm in a "bad" area all you like, but when my Nexus couldn't even hold a wifi connection in a 900 sq fq. house and the rezound holds it outside about 100' from the front door, I can't argue with real world performance. But by your own logic, go ahead and justify your Nexus to yourself all you want.

So it's a huge conspiracy that the nexus' radio performs like crap while other 4g phones are fine. Whatever you need to keep telling yourself to make you think the nexus is just temporarily having problems. We'll see how many are still defending their beloved when 1/15 rols around and people are still having crappy 3g/4g/wifi radio performance. But hey whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night dude.

Had mine 2 days and I've had several periods of it dropping out like this, and overall weak signal strength usually -100dbm everywhere I go. I love the phone and OS so far other than this(battery life could be better). But it's kind of important that the phone can connect to the outside world.

i just don't jump to conclusions, but rather make intelligent and informed decisions about problems with my phone. that's how i know the signal issues with my GN, and my buddy's bionic are network related. so i'm not going to run into the verizon store like a '**** and return this awesome phone.

Sub par? No issues with 4g or 3g radios whatsoever ,(other than the recent Verizon BS).... I'd say either your phone or coverage area is the issue. The radio " issue" I keep reading about is not happening to everyone. I'm guessing the majority of users are having no problems.

I'm glad for you that you're in a good area, but there is no doubt the nexus' performance is, in fact, sub-par compared to the rezound and razr. I just hope for your sake they can somehow fix the crappy radio hardware with software, at least partially.

You've decided that with all your wisdom, you being an informed consumer, Verzion, the most reliable network (can you hear me now), is gonna fix their network to function correctly so the almighty Nexus can get a signal. Well that's all that matters honestly The Nexus was just not usable for me in the areas I frequent. The rezound is holding a signal in places the nexus couldn't so for me the rezound works where the nexus could not.

Ultimately it's up to you. for me, there were a couple of different things about the Nexus I couldn't live with, and I'm extremely happy with the rezound. The network and wifi performance are amazing.

I had the Rezound and the Nexus side-by-side for two weeks and the Rezound clearly out-performed the Nexus. Sucks cause I wanted to keep the Nexus but it was clear it couldn't keep a strong signal to save its life. So if the network is to blame.....well, there are a slew of phones that haven't been told the network sucks yet. I'd bet majority of the happy owners who don't have any issues with signal either live in strong 4G signal areas or are naive to how well a phone could/should perform. Take the Nexus into 3G territory and you might as well turn it off. But don't try telling that to those who are drunk on the Nexus cool-aid

Yes I sincerely hope they fix the radio crappiness of the Nexus. if they can pull that off (I'm still convinces it's hardware), it will be a terrific 4g phone.

Calling it how it is isn't trolling. I DID own a Nexus, and last I checked it wasn't a requirement to post here that I currently own one. I'm speaking from personal experience with 2 different Nexuses. I'm glad yours has no (perceived) issues, I really am. But I'm going to share my experience with the phone for others to make their own decision on which phone to try or purchase. Feel free to ignore me on the site if you don't like posts that have anything to say that doesn't fit your personal beliefs.

Good excuse. You should be a car salesman. Is your buddies Bionic really a Nexus too and you won't admit it? Sorry Bubba, the network may have it's issues, but the Nexus has greater ones.

I am having signal issues as well.. No wifi issues, but mainly in my house. I use wifi but having on/off issues with 3G and 4g signals dropping as well as voice. Which comes with battery issues from this as well. I turned off 4G all together now. It's wierd cuz I can drive across the street and get 2-3 bars of both 3G and 4g. But there are points all over town where I can't get data or voice on the phone? My signal is for the most part is always around -120 dBm.

I am not sure if I should exchange for a new one and see if the problem still persists or not.? Tech support told me to try. There are no other phones I want from Verizon right now. Everyone keeps telling me to get iPhone but not sure I can go to a smaller screen after having an X and now Nexus.

By the way, my X always has 4 bars easy where the Nexus has 0 .
