While I do agree with you on some points, I don't think that these companies build a phone to last a whole two year contract. I have always been extremely careful with my phone. I have never physically broken a phone in my day. However, almost every phone I have had since back to my early TDMA cingular wireless Nokia phone (http://leonardkirk.comicbloc.com/wp-content/OldPhoneNOKIA51652.jpg) ... none of them have lasted the full two years. They have either died completley, gave me "white screens of death", or stopped receiving phone calls right before the two year marks. This can be extremely frustrating, because if you are before your two year mark, its is very hard to get them to upgrade you early as opposed to making an insurance claim when you plan on upgrading anyhow.

I also think insurance is important, BUT I believe that protecting your store bought phone is important, because the quality of the phones that the insurance contractors send out to you is horrific!

The Samsung A900 would be the exception here. My old one is still running after being dropped so many times it is not even funny, the camera is gone (completely, no longer there), the phone looks like it has been run through a dryer for a month, but it still works perfectly!

I'm using the Seidio Innocase II on mine. I also have a Guard Z screen and body protector on the phone which I had on there before getting the case and didn't bother to take it off. I like this case, it is very low profile, works well in my pocket.

Ahhh... the good ole A900! It seems like just yesterday that everyone was going crazy over this phone. First "RAZR" like phone to Sprint, and everyone wanted it! My girlfriend at the time was just obsessed with getting it, and I remember the day she upgraded to it, the line in the local corporate Sprint store was out the door with people wanting this device. Amazing internal display, damn good camera (IMO), and a horrible battery life!

The good ole days ... excuse my reminiscence!

Horrible battery?!?! I could go 3-4 days without recharging with mild usage, 2 with heavy! It still has the original battery and goes a full day now!

The early phones with the magnesium battery cover did have some issues, the later ones with the plastic cover were unbelievable.

I love Seido products but I think they absolutely killed it with the two part design that clips together... makes the back of the phone look SO ugly.

Otter box looks cool but makes the phone super bulky...yuck!

Any hard case that is slim... I looked online and actually got the Crystal Amzer and it's garbage.. shit doesn't line up at all... waste of $15.

It doesn't look that bad, and it provides easy access to your sd card.
