Root [Discussion - Developers _ONLY_] Building ICS from source (Isaac's github).

Well I did some tweaks to the Zip file and got it to install with no Offset Errors. Also all the buttons works, sound works, and carrier is listed correctly but still no touch screen :(

But you didn't build a kernel with Isaac's ICS TCD file, did you?

I bet Tickerguy can get it to work in about a week (assuming ICS stabilizes). Maybe someone could just start a donation fund, everyone contributes $5-10 and donate a MT for tickerguy to play with (assuming he'll agree to it too).

Think of it as an upgrade fee since VM/Motorola isn't doing anything about it.

since you got the offset error fixed, can you upload the new zip so we all have something to work off of? :D

Here Here, whom ever starts the fund I have a few bucks I could pitch in for this.

Right now, this is my problem:

ERROR: include/asm is a directory but a symlink was expected
make: *** [include/asm] Error 1
make: INTERNAL: Exiting with 3 jobserver tokens available; should be 2!

right now all I care about is getting a .zip that will boot :'( I don't know what it is but it ICS hates my phone...

Delete your downloaded sources and start over, because that isn't normal not normal at all. These are the 3 files your gonna copy and paste, open each file and click raw then copy paste the file to replace the info in your files. Also, make sure to use the right kernel sources...

did you ever try to redownload it yet?

Yep! And I wiped everything everytime I tried flashing... I replaced the kernel that's in the rom with a cm7 kernel and it boots far enough for ADB to recognize it but that's about it... :/ and of course it wouldn't boot further... Adb logcat said something about genlock so ya...

As stated in my previous post this is just an edited ZIP, this is NOT compiled from source. I basically took the Milestone 2 CM9 zip

[ICS][01-01-2012][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 9 for Motorola Milestone 2 (Android 4.0.3) - xda-developers

and the Triumph Proprietary files

Triumph_Proprietary.tar.gz

and merged the two files using Linux as Windows doesn't like the zip. Of course the files need to go in specific directories from the Proprietary files but it's not hard to figure out. The Zip is located here

Index of /cm9

To Install do the following
1. Make a Backup!
2. wipe cache partition
3. wipe data/facory reset
4. install zip from sdcard

Hopefully this will boot! :D Fingers crossed... Since it is from a totally different phone maybe it will work...

I went ahead and forked edowar's kernel source, and manually added Issac's fixes.

If anyone wants to give it a go (until I can myself) https://github.com/lifeblows10/ICS-Kernel is my repo with the changes.

Sounds like a bargain to me. I'm in!

NOOOOO!!!! I still can't get it to boot! :'( I'm doing a sytem wipe, formatting system, wiping cache, wiping dalvik cache, then flashing the zip and still get stuck at the boot screen :'( i have never had a problem before this... Besides having to use an Oddball OC kernel...

Edit: I got an adb logcat! YAY! here's what it says:
Code:
- exec ' /system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
Someone help... please?

Also I can connect QPST to my phone so its far enough in boot for my laptop to recognize it just it won't go past the boot screen...

I'm in for a $20. Maybe more, but I'm broke at the moment.
