Root [Discussion - Developers _ONLY_] Building ICS from source (Isaac's github).

can you try it lifeblows? :D

I am attempting this kernel as a NOOB....don't even know if the MOTO milestone has the same FB0 hardware as our Triumphs....gonna give it the ole college try!

Androids fingers crosse and hope no boot loops

and how do i donate ive been veiwing these post for quite some time and uploading fantasic builds (ROMS) for my triumph atleast i could do to show my great apprecation is donate donate donate

Yes! And not everyone takes donations... But people who take donations usually have it in their signature...

I must say, the atmosphere around this thread is amazing. Just people trying to come up with ideas to make ICS a reality. No bull, no trolling, just ideas at work (well... we're hoping they do!)

Well I think everyone has been waiting for ICS for a while... I know I have even before when it was still a rumor...

:):)I gotta tell ya lifeblows, I was totally content letting everybody do most of the work up until cm7 and 2.3.7, but I have taken a crash course in Linux and I feel like it is time to contribute! Even if I can't get this kernel to run, Im still gonna try to build my own CM7! I just wanna be able to say that Im using MY OWN!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who helped....and I can't believe VM is still selling this phone with 2.2 vanilla on it...BLAH:mad:

VM doesn't update their phones so what can you expect? And good luck with trying to build cm7... Its always nice to get more and more devs here! :D I wish I could, but I don't know where to start and I don't have a steady work schedule so I don't always have time...

I (we all) understand. You offer valuable input here, so you are always welcome.

I'll start working on this project, I have done a lot of linux building from source with OS and such. I can't promise how much time I can offer on all this or if I will get any where, but I sure would like to see CM9 on the Triumph specially after getting the zip to boot on the phone. Till this evening when I get home....

My first thought is to compile the code straight from google, and then add in our propietary files into the system

Downloading the Source Tree | Android Open Source

Also I am going to create a github area on my hosting provider since I have unlimited bandwidth as soon as I get home. Github is cool but it has way to many issues as they offer way to many ports. Figure if we have one place to manage the Triumph it would be a lot easier for all of us. I'll keep everyone posted.

There were a lot more fixes that went into the AOSP code to get CM7 running on the MT. check Tickerguy's github. I think sticking with the CM7/9 base is better since there are more fixes (even if a few problems get introduced). Also there are other devs working on CM9 for similar devices to the MT, like TJstyle & edowar, so porting their fixes/updates to our MT would be easier.

There are workarounds being discussed for github's current issues here:

ICS Kernel (should work on MT):

https://github.com/edowar/FIH-msm7x30-ics

The rest of CM9 (from isaac's repo or CM), our device specifics:

https://github.com/edowar/android_device_fb0 <-- try this first
or
https://github.com/edowar/android_device_fih_fb0
https://github.com/edowar/android_device_fb0

Proprietary blobs can be downloaded here:

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...7-source-development-area-11.html#post3634312

or use extract-files.sh script from the CM7 build thread instructions plugged into a Froyo ROM.

Build away! I will when I get time & my build env working again.

Aaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

New to git & frantically reading to try to understand how to cherry-pick. Have a sync of Isaac's source ready to go & stuck!!! This is maddening.
