Question about All applications list

I have a question about the All applications list. How come there are apps listed under the "All" tab in settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All that don't show up in the apps list when you tap the apps button or in the widgets list? Examples under settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All is an entry for Picasa Web Albums, but there is no Picasa icon in my All Apps list or widgets list. Same for Ringtone Trimmer and a few others.

Thanks.

Eric

I think that is an excellent question. I have wondered that myself many times!

bump bump, yo.

Anyone?

I guess that these are not stand alone apps, they are integrated into the hTC sense UI & some for google apps.
The .apk's come up and run on demand to allow you to complete a task, like the ringtone trimmer when you specifically go to choose a ringtone and hTC sense asks you if you want to trim it and isolate a certain part of it.
You cannot open the .apk and it has stylized menu with Jimmy Hendrix on it with a burning guitar showing all the .mp3 files on your phone asking you which one you wanna trim, 'ya know, it just don't function like that.

Or at least that's what I think, they are just lil'UI helpers.

I thought it was probably something like that. I noticed if I open my "gallery" app, one of the galleries I can look at is Picasa. I imagine since Android is a Google product and I use Picasa it automatically added it when I set up my phone.

How are you enjoying your Dinc2?

What phone did you have previously?

I see you are rooted, how did you do it?
Did you use the hTC unlock bootloader method or the downgrade then root 2.3.3?

Loving the phone for the most part. A little bummed about the battery life, but I'm coming from an old not-so-smart-phone and from what I've read the DI2 gets decent battery life for a smart phone.

As far as rooting goes, I tried the HTC boot unlock method but that doesn't get you s-off so I was still limited in how much trouble I could get myself in ;). So I relocked, also using HTC's instructions and then downgraded using att1n's script to downgrade and rooted with revolutionary. It was a breeze, and that's coming from a complete noob. Guess I'm lucking in that regard, since some users claim they had problems with both att1n's downgrade and revolutionary's s-off and CWM install.

One random question. The first ROM I flashed was Andybonestock and I liked that too, everything worked great. Now I have Newt's Inc. HD 2 RLS 1.1, but I no longer get notifications when I get new gmail. Any idea why that would be? If I open the gmail app and refresh my inbox, I get new mail. And If I got to settings>accounts & sync>google I have contacts, gmail, and calander all set to sync. I can sync them manually, but they never seem to auto sync like they used to. I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing my gmail app, but still not notifications. I feel like on the other ROM's I could choose how frequently google sync'ed but I can't anymore. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly...who knows. Any thoughts on no longer getting new email notifications?

Thanks man!
