Root need help removing the root

I just want to go back to factory setting i never installed a custom rom. I just wanted to remove some of the bloatware. Any help would be appreciated. I used bubbys simple root method on my htc inspire /aka HD desire.

Just a couple of questions for you, to make sure I understand what you want to do...

Are you currently rooted?
Did you root to remove blaotware, have nto installed any custom ROM and now want to be unrooted?
If you want to be unrooted, do you want your phone to be back as it was when it came out of the factory (as in with all the bloatware back on) or do you mean that you want an unbranded phone, as it would have come from HTC themselves?

Sorry... just want to be clear what you mean!

Also - could you put a link to the method you used to root? I am not familiar with the "bubbys simple root".

Cheers,
D

Afternoon Rob, have a similar question. Will be jumping ship to the Sensation XE tonight:rolleyes: and will be flogging my DHD. What i want to do is put it back to how it was, unlocked simfree, came with no carrier branding so i dont need to field a 100 questions on Gumtree about "what is rooted"
I used the Ace Hack Tool
Cheers

Sorry Rob, just tead your unrooting guide on the excellent all things root guide. Jeez that looks more difficult than rooting

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Murzz, saw this just before I left work and thought that I'd leave it till I got home.

To be honest, I'm not 100% on unrooting. It's not difficult... you have to flash a stock RUU (below a certain build) and then use visionary to root, so you can run the s-off/s-on tool and then run the ruu for the latest build.

Don't think it's especially hard, but think that RUU's can present problems sometimes, which is why I've linked another XDA thread on how to get RUU's to work if you're having issues.

Why not sell it as pre-rooted?

I have ARHD as my ROM and am going to be doing a factory data reset from within settings. Would i be right in thinking although i have ARHD on my SD card the actuall ROM will be running on the phones intarnal.
Cheers
Murz

Yep - the ROM would be on the phone itself... unless you have been doing what Stu has started to do recently.

If you do a factory reset, your phone would be back to a blank state, but running ARHD. If you format the SD card, that would take everything off the SD card too (if you are inlcuding the SD card when you sell the phone).

Would be easier if you were gonna sell the phone as rooted... you wouldn't have to mess around!

Cheers Rob, gonna do like you say sell it as rooted. Will copy the ARHD ROM onto my pc and then fire it on to a 4gig card then back into the DHD as the new owner is not getting my 16 Gig card:D

No worries mate!!

You know you don't need to leave the ROM on your SD card, don't you? You could just put a blank SD card in the phone, without having to mess around :)

If your going to sell pre rooted may I suggest installing this as the ROM:
[ROM][DEC 8] Official RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1 STOCK ROOTED - xda-developers

That way it will remove the likes of OC Daemon/ and return it to as stock as possible without leaving apps that could be used by the uninitiated to ruin their experience with the device. However you also would need to consider who you sell it to as far as updates go. I know ICS hasn't been announced officially yet for the DHD but if someone buys it who isn't savvy as far as installing ROMS go and they expect an FOTA update that never comes then returning to complete stock is a good idea. I'd say leave pre rooted if you know the person who buys it so you can give advice and guidance otherwise sell unrooted and back to stock if on somewhere like ebay.

Sorry Murzz... the only way that I can think of having read would be to run a stock ruu (below a certain build... 1.32, I think) and temp root using visionary, so you use the s-off/s-on tool on XDA to turn the phone back to s-on. Once you have s-on, you'd then be able to run another (probably the most recent) ruu to flash the phone back to stock.

I can't give exact details, as I have not actually done this myself. You might be best either doing as Stu has said and selling the phone as "stock, rooted" and putting something in the details stating that the phone has been rooted and, as such, will not receive any OTA updates that become available! :)

When I get home, I'll have a bit of a dig to see if I can't find the stuff I've read on unrooting and put a link up, if you'd like! :)

Think it would be easier to shift if i had it back to "normal" Rob so i would really appreciate the link if you could find it mate.
Cheers

Murzz... the simplest thing for you to do is run the ruu Stu linked... this would return the phone to stock, but it would be s-off... not sure if this means that you wouldn't be able to get OTA updates or not... you could then sell the phone as previously rooted, but returned to stock.

Have you thought about putting an add in the classifieds on here? People on here are more likely to understand what a rooted phone is than say on ebay...

Can't find the info/link I mentioned before... could have been a PM discussion on all involved in un-rooting when I was putting the ATR Guide Sticky together.

Leave it with me though... am looking in to it and may be able to come back with something in a couple of days!!

Cheers Rob will go with stu's way if you cant find what your looking for, no hurry though. Going to be selling it on Gumtree where all my old phones go, no postage hassle's and the punter picks up, thats why i would prefer it to be running a stock ROM with S-on so when they expect an update and dont get it they dont come ringing my doorbell:rolleyes:
