HTC Rezound OTA is here

Did a Check Now, then realized I should do a back up and fired up Titanium while it was downloading. Installed fine.

Today is my first work day following the OTA update. I run the paid version of System Panel all the time to keep an eye on things. The battery seemed to be draining faster than usual, so I turned to System Panel to find the culprit. The VZW Location agent was running, but had barely used any CPU since the OTA. The Phandroid app, however has been eating close to 100% CPU all day today. Stopping it didn't help. I uninstalled then reinstalled and that fixed it.

I'm keeping an eye on mine too. So far... 5 hr 57 min since unplugged and -31% on the battery (some light use, full-time 4G LTE, high performance mode, no wi-fi)...
Display 51%
Voice calls 14%
Cell standby 10%
Phone idle 8%
Opera mobile (web browser) 7%
Verizon location agent 3% (it showed up on the list again; was missing/disappeared the other day and yesterday)
Android OS 2%
(A streaming radio) app 2% (and then i just Force Close it)
Starbucks 2% (ha i swear i only used it once today)
Bluetooth 1% (it's always on)
(My two email apps didn't show up on this Battery Use list even though it's polling/fetching headers/etc every 15 minutes.)
bye

It's pretty elemental, but just in case anyone didn't catch it - the update changes brightness settings to 100% (at least it did with mine). I didn't immediately notice it, and it drained the hell out of my battery till I did.

After 12 hr 11 min earlier... 51% battery left (standard/regular battery).
Display 44%
Cell standby 14%
Phone idle 13%
Voice calls 11%
Opera mobile (web browser) 5%
Verizon location agent 5%
Android OS 3%
(A streaming radio) app 3% (weird...why is it growing...i just reported to them the app is a battery sucker while off)
Bluetooth 2% (it's always on)
(My two email apps didn't show up on this Battery Use list even though it's polling/fetching headers/etc every 15 minutes, and i checked it a few times.)
bye

Its amazing how updates do different things to different phones. I checked all 3 of mine and 1 was all the way up, but that one always is anyways. So that hasn't affected mine. I noticed a couple apps force closing so I uninstalled and reinstalled em and no more force closes.
What I notice is how much battery gets used with the screen off compared to before the update.

Turned my phone on this morning, to find it automatically goes into factory reset. After that pi$$es me off, the phone does the OTA download - again, no choice to stop it. Then it reboots AGAIN to install it....I'm back to a phone with nothing on it. I'm so darn mad I could throw it. Seriously. My battery is half gone just fropm that crap, and it completely reset everything - my network changes to keep me off 4G etc are gone too.

Add to it the verizon locater agent crap eating battery again....I hate iphone, but I have to say, this is the last time I'm investing a week into getting all the settings on this phone the way I want them. It took me 2 weeks after I bought it, and I have it exactly a MONTH. I've had 2 weeks of no issues...only to start over.

I plugged my phone in last night to charge and didn't notice the little orange light wasn't on. My fiancee had unplugged my USB cable and plugged in her damn iPhone usb cable into my base. So I woke up to "not enough battery to download firmware update". Trying to get it charged at work to get this :/

Just now using my phone this morning to find it updated itself after rejecting it a couple of days ago, hard to believe android actually forces updates onto you. Anyway download time is faster while upload time is lower but this is a different time of day from my other test. The weirdest thing doe is I can no longer check to see the percent of what's eating my battery anyone else have this problem?

Edit: since then I restarted and tested several times. My speeds have really been cut, will rooting taking off the bloatware and installing a Rom bring it back to normal. Is there a fix at all?

I don't know if this is old news, but I didn't see any recent threads on this.

At about 1pm (Phoenix) my phone rebooted. Next thing I knew - poof, update. I guess I can't avoid it any longer (if stick) Oh well. Haven't seen any noticable differences. Not going to get into speed tests on this post.

After 12 hr 2 min earlier... 41% battery left (standard/regular battery, high perf mode, 4G LTE, no wi-fi)
Display 64%
Voice calls 9% (4 or 5 quickie calls today)
Cell standby 9%
Phone idle 7%
Opera mobile (web browser) 3% (about 1 hr total)
Android System 3%
Android OS 3%
Batteryminder 2% (ha - this app suddenly showed up on the list)
Bluetooth 1% (it's always on)

Verizon location agent ?? (strange - it's not on the list today!!)

(My two email apps didn't show up on this Battery Use list even though it's polling/fetching headers/etc every 15 minutes, and i checked it a few times.)
bye :)

About done with the day and the problem hasn't got any better but worse. If I reset phone will pick up speeds for a second only to drop. At home where I usually get full bars of 4g I was stuck in 1x for the first time and had to pull the battery, its also a noticeable lag. No use whining anymore ,was planning on keeping this phone two years but mite have to return it. I an curious could rooting the phone bring it back to normal or am I out of luck

@mempharoah, This really sound like a VZW 4G network problem. If you really think it's the Rezound, I'd try another one before bailing to another phone. You might find yourself worse off. Perhaps try turning 4G off for awhile.

Have you tried everything you can to fix your issues?
Pull sim card for 2 min. and then put battery back in and reboot. Let the phone sit for 5 or 10 minutes before using. You can go into verizon store and get a new sim. Factory reset last resort. I also don't think the cure is to shut off 4G if its always worked before.
I agree, dont give up if you like the phone just to get another brand with issues unless you feel you feel no choice or you just want out of it.

After more time and more testing I am beginning to wonder if it isn't a Verizon thing as well. Take a look at my speed test pic below. The bottom two results are pre update, the next 2 are post update, (here's where it gets a little confusing) the next three are when I had to take a trip out of town and decided to test there. My speed was back to normal. And last and also least are the top two results which was when I got back in town. I'm not sure what happened when I was out of town because even though I was out of town I was still close enough that it was using the same tower to do the test. The only thing I can say is it's obvious the phone is still capable of getting those higher speeds but something is stopping it, at least in my home city.

The timezone issue is still present in the latest update. I am in Birmingham, AL on Central time and mine still randomly changes to Eastern after the update.

The ota downloaded but hasn't installed yet. I kinda don't want it. I have yet to power the phone off since the ota downloaded, but I'm getting ready to switch out batteries and I'm wondering if it will then automatically install? Also do you have to have a good charge for it to start bc the battery I'm switching to only has 35% or less in it, so could that stop the install from happening.

it was a heavy usage day for me today. Down to 14% leftover battery after 12 hr 6 mins. Also did 1+ hr of hotspot use. But the verizon agent is nowhere on the Battery Use list. Yeah i think i need to buy a spare battery too. bye.

I've not experienced any problems since the update. The Verizon location thing is listed as running but have yet to see it listed in battery usage. Speeds seem actually better overall but it's too close to be conclusive. Also my battery seems to be lasting longer. This is more conclusive because I was never able to make it 12 hours prior to the update. Now it's making it easily with quite a bit of game playing and web browsing.

Knock on wood.
