Should I Upgrade To Esteem?

9000CoD

Newbie
Hey guys im new here and i was wondering if i should upgrade from my Samsung Code i220 to the Esteem or should i wait for the LG Connect 4G?

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't get an LG anything. I bought an LG HD set top box, quit working two weeks after I bought it. I would have not bought an Esteem if I had known of all the other problems like re-booting at will. If I had known that before hand, would have gone with Samsung. Thankfully, I don't have that problem. But, for me, it's other problems like apps not working because of bugs in the phone that LG doesn't want to acknowledge or fix. I will never buy another LG product and I don't care what anyone else says. LG peddles junk.

all in the software not the hardware ;)

My wife has the Samsung Indulge. I gladly take my Esteem with random reboots over that $200 hunk of cheap worthless plastic. I've had 3 Samsungs and will never buy another. Besides reboots, Esteem is a top level phone.

Ive have had 0 problems on both my esteems, so dont get discourage from the post below you, either the LG Esteem or the LG Connect will be a great choice. ;)

I think the reboots are caused by certain apps. It is the only thing I can think of that could be causing this to happen on some phones and not others. I bought an Esteem from the first batch and have had zero issues, same as many others on here.

This is the problem that most people don't understand, constantly people complaining about Samsung, LG, yada yada... They make the HARDWARE, most of these complaints that have people saying they will never buy yada yada again is in the SOFTWARE.

They also customize Android for the device and make the kernel. So issues with the ROM are their fault. Some of that blame is with the carrier too since they tell the OEM what specs to make the ROM to. Unlocked version of handsets don't usually have issues and they get updates much faster.

Whats is the difference between Connect and Esteem? Besides the screen and HDMI output? i have heard connect has more speed. Thanks for the input Guys

I'm a little confused by that. I thought each maker had their own version of Android, like HTC Sense. Isn't that the software?

Should have stated that it's just my opinion that Samsungs are crap lol. I've had the Intercept and Indulge. Both just don't work very well.

That'll be the storage space, front facing cam from 1.3 to VGA .3 , esteem has Roms development already, apparently LG connect may feel cheaper, and it may have an primitive cpu chip ( assumptions ). Just try them both and be the judge to yourself. Don't take the step by others people too often so that you would not end up regretting your choice and not blaming others. We are here to give you tips and advices , after all its up to you to decide :).

Good luck.

No no no. Of course there is not a perfect company but Neither LG and Samsung are bad. Please don't judge the book by its cover. To answer your question ; manufacturers don't make ROM. They develop it to their devices, Google uploads their source and manufacturers work to port/develop it their supporting devices. Although they do make their own "software". By software PG means that they make their own launcher, they included their own bloatwares as well as their own featured apps. They start to modify the source as they see fit. That's why you see every manufacturers with their own launcher, features, exclusive apply , settings ,etc.

And Not LG and Samsung are good. Take a look at Samsung Galaxy s 2/ note. Thar phone is still one of the very best ever made in history. Also LG may not have expertise in software but they do make high quality phones; 2x , g2x a great achievement. But the problem is , as they create these great phones their "software" doesn't fully support all the capabilities of the phone , in other words , the software is being a bottleneck to their phone's performance . cheers.

I had Samsung indulge, but I only survive for about couple days (for battery reason). But i love my previous plasma made by Samsung. I really like my 55" LCD LG now with my soundbar by Samsung (and the subwoofer); I sent this Samsung to manufacture twice then is perfect now. Now, my Esteem has never given me any problems AT ALL (reboot bla....), but I was the person who screwed it but it is perfect now. LG/ Samsung/Sony...etc..is a very good brand but like PG said, softwares are NOT perfect; maybe it is, but it is not guarantee will be fit perfectly with a hardware. For example; not all apps work perfectly with a particular phone/brand; maybe is okay for one, but is not for another.
I think ppl who have a reboot problem is very limited. I am sure either Esteem or Connect is not a bad phone at all; first of all the Esteem for sure.

Plus you have to consider Metro/Cric ket etc prolly dont pay as much as the big dogs do to have their sw developed for them. I know verizon has motorola do their sw for them and it took 6mo+ to get GB to a point verizon would write off on it n release it.

Now think about that, we all know Moto etc has teams of dev working on stuff, and then think about us independent devs working on it solo or with just a few others and none with the training or experience as the pros. Then again, it seems all the custom roms work better than the stock with the exceptions of some things we just cant fix due to lack of src etc etc. lol ;)

Yeah man, truely sad. Its either that they don't know how to make a proper rom and rush their work or that they dont care about the device's feeling. Lol

I think with the prepaid carriers, its ok we'll pay for this much time for development of the sw, and if it all works great and if not oh well. And with the paid carriers its make it work n make it work right or we aint paying you. lol

but also they had to sacrifice something in the phone to keep it at a reasonable price.;)

Does anyone even make .3MP sensors anymore? Not to mention that 1.3MP sensors are only about a couple dollars ($2-$4) when purchased in bulk. That is why I think .3MP is a typo.
