[International / GSM] GNEX ROM? Kernel? ICS version

Quick answer: yes! :) (re. the download and flashing question)

Instructions on that page (which I'm sure you've already seen):

Flashing instructions

1. Make a backup
2. wipe data/factory reset in recovery
3. flash the rom
4. flash the google apps
5. reboot
6. sign in
7. wait for the phone to restore all your apps
8. reboot

This ROM also appears to contain its own custom kernel (looks like they've changed sources between versions).

You need to be aware that the kernel version needs to match the ROM version. Since this is a 4.0.3 ROM, you could install a different 4.0.3 kernel, too (just follow the kernel flashing instructions after you've installed the ROM).

So, you'd want to install your ROM before you change to a different kernel (a ROM's going to have its own kernel anyways, so installing the kernel first will just get it wiped-out).

Thanks just did that using the Clockworkmod and perfect. messing around cpu settings to make phone last longer. any idea on base settings to start at?

Also how does auto dimming work on this rom?

LOL, haven't flashed that ROM so I don't know about that feature...

I'm using SetCPU to underclock to save a little battery (no undervolting yet for me). Be sure to not check "Set on Boot" until you've arrived at a stable clock rate (both high and low).

In SetCPU, there's also a "Safe Mode" feature that places a flashable setcpu_safemode_toggle.zip file on the root of your SD card that will reset the clock speed to the default settings should you get into trouble.
