Samsung Galaxy Note - Mac Compatible

Hi,

Im looking into getting the Samsung Galaxy Note, i dont really take/make many phone calls and use text and email or a more regular basis.

Ive got an iphone 3gs and out of contract just now.

Im mac based, so a bit worried about compatiability issues with the note and my mac in comparison with my 3gs

any comments or helpful advice?

What do you want to be Mac compatible for? What do you want to do? Transfer files between your Mac and the Note?? If so then that's not a problem. I am on a Mac too.
 
Hi,

I have lots of music & films on the mac (itunes) and want to know if i can just plug the note (or for that matter, the galaxy nexus) into the mac and transfer easy. what about calendars, email, etc.

Mate, music and films are direct transfer (not sure about Nexus, I am talking about Note).

You just plug in, set it in the setting to be able to connect to the mac (debugging) and off you go.

As far as calendars and email are concerned I am not sure what client you are using, but I am on google and outlook (for work) and it is all synced in.. Not sure what the story would be with Yahoo or Hotmail.

Note on the podcasts (all my music is pretty much podcasts) I am sure there is a better way to do this, but I simply copied all of my old podcasts onto the microSD card. There is plenty of apps (e.g. Google Listen and Dogcather) to download new podcasts (but I didn't want to re-download all of mine, so I just copied them).

On a side note.. It is a truly lovely phone.. I am in love.. :)
 
I have a Macbook Pro and a Note, all my contacts and email are synced with my Google account. My work email, calendar and contacts sync finely through Ms Exchange Active sync. Music and movies I have just dragged to the Note MicroSd card when it is plugged to the Mac.
So no problems with Note and Mac, and Note beats the heck out of iPhone in every aspect..
 
I dont have MICROsd card installed in my note yet. Just got my note yesterday. New to android. I have plugged note to my Mac but it don't shows up in finder!
Ya I have turn everything on "debug" but it don't show up in finder.
I did get connected by one FTP app. Then it showed in the finder. But I couldn't put stuff in note.could just download from note!!
So need help. Plz can someone help this newbie. Thanx. Great phone by the way. Waiting for some reply
 
Film and TV dont transfer sadly. Haven't found a converter to do that yet. Try Handbrake, that'll get trailers converted for the note. It's certainly not effortless like the iphone/itunes is.

I haven't had any problems with my Macbook Pro. You should download Kies and see if that fixes your problem. I installed Kies before hooking my Note to my Mac, and everything has worked great.

See, goto

Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Utilities > Turn on Connect Usb Storage and then plug your phone into your pc or mac and it will appear as a standerd Sd card.

Its easy but everyone forgets to tell one tiny important step. I had the same problem asking where I was doing wrong:)
After choosing debuggin and connecting it to macbook, check the status on phone and choose connect on it. :)
 
Is the Calendar in the Note fully compatible with iCal? Can I move data back and forth?

Can I play back Keynote and PowerPoint Presentation (Mac) on the Note? Thanks.
