Yes, the physical looks of the phone is all opinion. Personally, the HTC Incredible has all the potential to be a better looking phone than the Nexus One. To me, if they fix up the backplate, maybe make it White, the phone will be freaking HOT!!! like the White HTC Supersonic, that thing looks niceee. White phones in general look so much better most of the time.

Ohhh, I almost agree...but please, PLEASE not white. It's just too, well, Apple. Black, aluminium, dark grey, all good. But I would rather have that strange looking red than an Apple white.

But that's just me and JMHO. I'm counting down the days till my NE2 is up (11 to go!) and then counting down the release of whichever phone lets me use it ;) I think at this point for me, preferably the Incredible.

I was thinking the same thing. The front of the Incredible already looks very iPhone-ish. A white back would look almost identical to the iPhone, something I would REALLY love to avoid. Don't want those iPhone fanboys thinking I'm trying to be like them...

I want the red back. That way if anyone sees it they dont have to waste my time asking what it is. They'll know and I won't have to feel bad when I tell them I have an Incredible or be embarrassed if they think I have an Iphone.

Yes they'll look cool, but they'll take up resources and battery life.
According to the Desire ROM on the nexus one, all 2.1 live wallpapers are present. I'll definitely have one for a while until they get old and move to a more efficient static background.

Sorta off topic, but I'll ask anyways....

I read a comment on the N1-VZW March 23 story on Engadget, and it says the N1 that passed FCC that we have all been saying is AT&T's is actually going to Vodafone. Do they work on the same bands? Or is this person completely off-mark?

Why would a Vodafone phone need to get FCC approval as it would not be operating within the US? Best I know there are 3 models of the N1 are PB99100 (tmobile), PB99110 (AT&T) and PB99300 (Verizon). The PB99110 is supposed to be operating on WCDMA bands 1,2 and 5. I dont think those are the same for Vodafone England.

I almost think that the N1 will make more money than the Incredible...for Verizon, per unit that is. Of course there are many factors that we will never know, but with the N1 they simply get handed contracts. And nothing stops them from selling N1 accessories in Verizon stores. So much more cost will go into the Incredible. Up front costs of buying the units, costs to train employees, costs for storage, shipping (from storage to stores, and free overnight shipping to customers) ... The list goes on.

That being said there is still some incentive for Verizon to put out their own phone. After all, every carrier and their mothers will be supporting the N1. There is nothing exclusive about it. I feel Verizon gets off on having exclusive phones like the droid. For this reason I feel Verizon wants to get the Incredible released.

It is just tough for me to agree that Verizon will release the Incredible a week before the N1 strictly to steal some of those sales. Money is money and they will be making it no matter.

that's a good one.

btw .. I prefer to purchase in-store. Give me hands on demo and in store support ANY day of the week. I could wait a couple weeks for that. Anything more than a month .. well, i guess i'd have to go nexus one via google online store. Here's to hoping for a dual launch!!

totally agree!!

Id dig the back looking like the supersonic. I wouldnt mind a kickstand too...

VZW sent me the card yesterday asking to upgrade. I tore that s*it up. I can't wait until the Incredible launches!

Exactly. For 3G, everyone in Europe is 900/2100MHz which doesn't match up with AT&T's 850/1900MHz. BTW, even though we know Verizon is getting the Nexus One for certain, it's worth noting that the PB99300 is fully compatible with Sprint as well, or any other CDMA carrier in the US for that matter. The three models you mentioned pretty much means any US mobile phone subscriber on any network will be able to have and use this phone. Nice to see such a feat finally occur in this country, though next time I'd like to see the variants launch concurrently.

Are vzw and sprint phones interchangeable?

Hardware wise yes as far as I know. I think the problem comes with how Sprint allows phones to be added with something to do with the programming of the phone or how they track ESN. I think its easier going from Sprint to Verizon.

I guess i understand why some of you won't like a white background.

Well, if it has the background of the white Supersonic with that sort of grey graphics on it, it would look pretty sweet.

Otherwise, i want a color that stands out, not the same old black that everyone has. Aluminum would be nice, red actually isn't that bad now. But it depends what type of red. If it's the muddy red that it looks like in the pictures, i say no. If it's like a ferrari red or porsche red, hellz yes.

Are vzw and sprint phones interchangeable?

Technically, yes. However, CDMA carriers use the MEID which is a built-in electronic ID unlike GSM with removable SIM cards. The primary difference here is that with CDMA, the ID belongs to the phone as opposed to GSM where the ID belongs to your SIM card (and you). My understanding (someone can correct me if I'm a bit off) is that with CDMA carriers, their database has to contain your MEID or it won't accept the phone on the network. I've heard that you can bring a non-Verizon phone into a store and they will place it on their network, but it's convoluted. Oh, and it's worth noting that the special features pre-installed by carriers may cause issues when you try to export the phone to a different carrier.

I had a theory awhile back that Google could sell a CDMA N1 on it's website optionally to a Sprint or Verizon customer. Once you buy the phone, the MEID is sent to the specific carrier (in cooperation with the sales effort) such that the phone is now tied to that carrier (maybe permanently?). As long as Verizon and/or Sprint are on board, you can do anything you want with the same batch of handsets.

Any change in the actual hardware of the phone would cause a delay.
Yes adding RAM should just "work". But just like in your computer more RAM adds heat as well. In your computer its not big deal as most cases are ATX or Mini_ATX sized. But in a handheld device it might make a major difference. I'm also assuming that phones do not have sticks of RAM that go into slots like a computer but rather they are somehow permanently connected. Hence adding more RAM means modifying the motherboard which certainly would require more testing.
The RAM devices are pin-for-pin compatible. From a hardware build perspective, you just load up the machine with the higher memory parts... there's no retooling or similar. The existing hardware (i.e. memory controller/processor) will recognize the larger size by default, so there is no other hardware changes. The OS will recognize the larger RAM automatically, so again no need for changes. Yes, they would want to test it a bit, but most if not all of their existing test suite would work as-is, so it would be quick and simple. Maybe if the 512MB devices were just released and cutting edge, but these should parts be drop-in.

The Desire and Incredible are rumored to be nearly identical hardeware-wise so increasing RAM should be trivial from a technical perspective...

Grand, this forum is about the incredible and not Nexus's. I'm (along with a bunch of other people) not going to take a phone simply for better specs if the draw backs are I have to ditch the plan I'm on, I have to make multiple calls for support, I'll be without a phone for a few days if I have to return it AND that they'll put a hold on my funds when I return it.

Drop the attitude buddy, and don't assume a bunch of other people think like you.

If another phone launches at the same time as The Incredible that has these specs and is offered on Verizon....you would still want the Incredible? I didn't suggest you switch service, I said there was no mention of which carrier(s) will have it.

Let's stay focused guys and gals! No need to get our proverbial panties in a wad! The enemy here is not each other or opinions. The enemy is a lack of new information and great anxiety over the current crappy smart phones available through VZW! Dig deeper for the info and good things do come for those who wait!

Pay more attention to the boards buddy. There have been quite a few posts by people who do not relish the idea of not having in store support for their phones. Let me help and give you a sampling:
http://androidforums.com/nexus-one/49169-sending-back.html
http://androidforums.com/nexus-one/47508-anyone-else-uncomfortable-swapping-procedure.html
http://androidforums.com/nexus-one/36111-htc-customer-service-problems.html
Also Nexu's and the sales channel go hand in hand, its how you get one and its how you get a Nexus serviced. So don't get all pissy you make a dig at me about "this is about the phone not how they sell it" and I respond in kind. If you don't like people treating you as you treat others thats on you and no one else.

Here's my gut feeling for what it's worth. I do believe that both N1 and Incredible will be sold at the same time. I know I've read others' opinions that Verizon would be bringing the Incredible out a week before, but that is not a business-friendly move towards Google. Also, it's already been mentioned here that they are actually looking to make money off of the N1, so why chase extra revenue away by slapping Google in the face and jeopardize any future deals between the two.

Verizon does not have to do anything to give its Incredible an extra edge over the N1 because the average Verizon customer is going to buy what's in the store and not something that they can't see/feel. Combine this with some required verbage from Verizon sales staff stating that there will be no in-store support if the phone is purchased and I can see the average person by default going the route of the Incredible. I personally think it's a win-win for Verizon despite having competing phones coming to market at the same time.

Either way, we are on the home stretch now and this reminds me of a few weeks before the Droid got released. So exciting!!

I was just thinking back to how long we have been waiting for this phone...I started the post about the "Bravo" back in November. That phone was sure to releasei n January for Verizon...we waited. Then came the N1 (Passion) again another phone we were sure would hit in Feb...NOw the Incredible...March 23rd. After all the waiting the Incredible is the phone for me but once the thing launches...I have no idea what i will do with my time on teh web. Now I spend probably an hour per day looking for updates...video's etc... for the Incredible. Safe to say I cannot wait for the Incredible....and I hope it launches in March....Keep the updates coming....it is so much fun....but lets keep the comments civil.....
Incredible realease date March 23rd!!!

Its VERY exciting. The recent videos of the Desire with Sense UI have my mouth watering. I cant even say how often I just check in to see if there is anything new on the incredible. As we get closer the wait gets harder. Three more weeks of this will have us all climbing the walls !!

So true!

The good news is that the closer we get, the more info we will get. Eventually the phone will be getting reviewed and we can all jump on the negative review bandwagon as most did with the Droid and its purple colored touch buttons and not-so-hardware-related camera issue lol.

*sigh*....memories.
