I settle on NEAK from the Kitchen but if I'm honest, I don't find the battery to be any better than with the kernel I already had (which I assume was Samsung stock).
That's a very old version of
N.E.A.K., (
v1.1). The latest version, which I am currently using and rivals
Siyah, is
1.3.3 and can be downloaded here:-
[KERNEL][5.02.12][VooDoo][OTA] N.E.A.K. Kernel for I9100 - Think Different! (v1.3.3x) - xda-developers
UPDATE Can now be downloaded via
Kitchen Pro.
I've not idea how to change to Siyah other than installing it over the top of NEAK and also don't know if that would be the best option.
For detailed instructions on installing
Siyah, see here:-

This also contains details on how to use and set
Voltage Control which is a better alternative to
SetCPU that you are currently using.
UPDATE Siyah 2.6.12 can also now be downloaded and installed via the
Kitchen Pro app.
I have read that installing a new modem will make a world of difference but what do you guys think? And is this as easy a process as installing a ROM or Kernel through CWM as I have read reports of phones being rendered useless as a result.
You can, of course, use
CheckROM's Kitchen Pro app to choose from a selection of modems to install. Not really come across any problems experienced by people flashing modems.
The latest modems,
LP6 and
LPB, are getting very good reviews, I'm using
LPB, and can be downloaded as a .zip file and either flashed using
CWM or manually, through Recovery. They are not firmware dependent. For the latest modems, see here:-

Hope this helps.
