First, all credit goes to mrx8836350 (framework) and noname81 (LMT Launcher)!

First backup your phone. If on AOKP B25 or later NO need for this framework mod, but you can still enjoy LMT launcher app!

I. LMT install:
1. Download and install LMT Gesture Launcher.apk, v0.9 is the latest. You can get it here. Install it, open and set up how you like. Changelog for v0.9 LMT: Fixed Galaxy S ICS support; Added support for PieControl on both sides; Added 2 new commands: KillApp and KillAllApps; Added longpress support for PieControl: Back->KillApp, Home->PowerOff, Recent->KillAllApps, Menu->Settings and Search->VoiceSearch
II. Framework-res.apk install instructions for AOKP B23 users: (connect GN to PC)
First we want to make a copy of your original framework-res.apk

1. On your PC create a new folder on your phones sdcard and name it "original framework-res.apk" w/o quotes

2. In Root Explorer on your phone, navigate to system/framework and long press framework-res.apk and click copy

3. Go back, go back, click 'sdcard', scroll to the new folder you created 'original framework-res.apk', click on it, paste. A copy of the original framework is safe now.

4. Go here and download the "for AOKP build23 GSM" zip file to your PC and drop it on your GN sdcard.

5. Flash in CWM

- Use your new gestures (or pie menu) to navigate back and home and to bring up menus. Customize LMT to your liking it's got a lot of options

- Nova Launcher users tip: set desktop grid to 6 rows 4 columns
III. To undo it all?:
Now that you've been through the steps above you ought to have a pretty good idea. I'll give the easiest quickest way first: go get that "safe" framework-res.apk you saved in steps 2 & 3 above. Copy and paste it over the modified one with Root Explorer. Or, do a restore. You did make a backup right?! :D

Beware if you've flashed any theme mods to your GN...this mod could revert some changes aesthetically.

The folks @ rootz have been kind enough to post a collection of ROM framework-res.apk's ready to to flash in CWM have a look here.

I'm just having fun, you do this at your own risk :)

Thanks rhm :) since I'm a novice I had to give the novice approach to explaining how to do it. Took me all morning to figure it out for myself :p

I see noname81 has already updated the LMT launcher twice now in a couple of hours to 8.5. I'll update the OP with instructions, but if any of you have already applied this mod with v0.75 it's easy as pie just download the latest apk and install it. Then open the app in the 'Settings' tab and go to 'Set mode'. I use both so I set it to a value of 1.

You can change colors of it to grey or red as well. It comes up when you touch the side of the screen. You choose the height and width you'd like to activate it from. It's invisible until you touch it.
 
Is there a way to make it that swiping upwards makes the bar appear in the same way swiping down pulls down notifications?
 
I see what they did there...took the feature from the browser labs section and broadened it to the entire OS. Very nice. Loved that hidden feature on the browser.

Presently, no. But I did read on the "Accepted" status of AOKP for this kind of feature to be built into the next (maybe?) release!

The pie is in it's infancy I see this getting quite popular over the next month as the respective threads are slowly blowing up.

OP updated with new instructions as there is now a cwm flashable zip. Old instructions remain so you know what the zip is doing. There are a lot of new zips being posted in the OP @ XDA so if you think your particular ROM is being left out think again :)

edit: also, the good ole boys over @ the-rootz have been kind enough to collect several flashable zips for cwm in one post. Link is at the bottom of this OP
 
whoa, nothing for codename? im starting to think codename is the least favorite rom nowadays. always gets neglected and updated last.
 
this looks interesting, but i wish they would add an icon or option to swipe up to get the home keys to show again. i have always found the the "pie" settings menu awkward, and don't even use it in the browser.

Try Button Savior from the market, I know it was having some issues with ICS at one point but it may have been resolved now ;)
 
This is the best mod ever! I was already using the pie in the stock browser and since I mostly use chrome I don't see any problems. I am not using the gesture functions because it takes away from one-handed use, which I try to do when not typing.

DAMN I love this phone. So many great functions. Devs are even better!

to anyone who is using button savior:

is there an option to put the icons on the bottom? of course i could always just download it and try for myself, but figured i'd ask first. :p
 
This is CRAZY cool. I too may give this a try now that it's flashable.

Question tho...is the word launcher in the mod misleading me here, or does it actually replace whatever other launcher you're using?

It's sooooo laggy :p that is why I didn't include it in the OP. LMT is the way to go.

I guess so yeah. It doesn't replace your launcher and is not even an option as a home replacement. It's an app maybe I should reword that in the OP thanks :)

For all those wondering what it would be like, the best way imo is to go dnld LMT, install it, and try it out. Before you try the no nav buttons mod. That way you'll know pretty quick whether you'll like it or not.
 
You still get to use Nova Launcher. This is weird and I'm not used to it yet. But I think I like it
