Eris to v2.x, when?

Every forums should have a Phases
so who heard the rumor that the 2.1 OTA is possibly rolling on This Friday?

OH HOW YOU LOVE TO START THE RUMORS!!:):D

(P.S.-I just use google spell check, my ambidextrous-dyslexic brain gets all scrambled up sometimes with spelling!!!!-CHEERS!!

So here's a question ... would Verizon be more likely to release a major update at the beginning of the week, when tech support would be available, or near a weekend, when data traffic might be less?

Only n00bs are still worried about 2.1. The rest of us just stopped caring and just get pissed at those that ask the same questions over and over.

smacky, you sound so sad and upset. Many, many, many, many pages ago I was told I was making too much sense when I said to sit back and relax, wait for the changes; like watching the carrots grow isn't it! Don't get urinated off----or on----or what ever; Hitler liked that I hear, to be defecated and urinated on by Eva; I wonder if iphone has an app for that??? Anyway, cheer up, the sun will come out as I once said, and the frackin snow will melt; maybe--an I hope 2.1 can help with getting rid of my 62.5 inches of global warming in my yard. :D

The point is he isn't getting his point across. That garbage was damn near indecipherable and I didn't waste my time with it. We're not all English majors but at least type something comprehensible.

I got it, but I think you need to speak (323) to fully understand it. lol. But really tho, he's just telling the other guy that's talkin smack (hence his name) to stop complaining because like me, he'd rather read newbies excited about their phones than read fools bitching about things that NOBODY cares about.

That word "possibly" is poison.
Anything is possible. Particularly when you take into account quantum mechanics.

The issue isn't possibility, it's probability.

I think I'm going to have to unsubscribe this thread because of all this grammer/usage bullshit. Isn't this a phone forum?

Maybe this thread should be locked and a new one started that's about taking Eris to 2.1

edit: sorry to add to the noise, but my inbox is filled with this stuff

I am switching to N1 when it comes out as well. My wife loves the Eris, so I am gving her mine and using her upgrade for the N1...selfish but efffective. The Eris lags a bit too much and with all the mail and texts I do for work need somethign more speedy and capable.

Still will root the Eris if and when we are able!

The last 20 or so posts in this thread seem strange in relation to one another.

I guess the next post can be about anything at all and still fit in.

Has anyone seen the mirror finish screen protectors? I figured it would come in handy while manscaping.

I know this is a speculation thread, and that most posts therein are going to vary wildly. but given the last couple of pages and the distaste most people here have with 2.1 threads in general, I would like to cast my vote for locking this thread or shutting it down. As news comes out maybe it can be reopened. But I'm not a mod and I know you guys walk a fine line in deciding what is useful and beneficial to the community and what has basically become a bitch fest about not having 2.1.

If this is locked then you'll just see even more new threads pop up than there already are. I think I would prefer to keep the majority of the 2.1 shenanigans here.

agree 100%
why the hell would the mods lock this thread?
Finally 2.1 threads stopped popping up every 15 seconds and you want to lock this one? worst idea since the announcement of 2.1 for the Eris? yes
i'd rather keep all the 2.x posts here and NOT a trillion new threads
but hey what do i know what the other members want

The discussion of possibilities vs. probabilities was NOT a statement on grammar (sp.) or usage! It just happens to come after one.
Rather, it was a discussion of the difference between complete rampant speculation (specifically of the 2.1 release) vs. actual news or info.

That is what I was posting about.

If I didn't want crap in my inbox, I would certainly unsubscribe from this thread.
If you haven't figured out by now that this thread is complete crap yet...

Personally, I find it is something entertaining to do as I check in over here to see if there is any real news.

This is NOT likely to be the thread to find out that the OTA has hit.
That will probably (or possibly) be a thread entitiled, "I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But, you won't see this post. Since you unsubscribed. Ah well.

Trust me, I don't want a million other 2.1 threads either. But to me a useless thread with 5 posts is just the same as a useless thread with 1975 posts. I do want to keep things positive as well. But the vibe in this thread is anything but. I love this place! And I would never pressume to know better than anyone else which threads should and shouldn't be closed. Just stating my opinion. Its ok if you disagree with me.

I see no need to get the Nexus One when you already have the Droid Eris unless your hella rich.

Sometimes it seems having twice the processing speed really won't make much of a difference since I've seen this phone be very responsive, especially when multitasking. Sometimes. It seems that under heavy load, like surfing the net while listening to music or texting without closing out of ten other programs, the phone is still snappy. Then, I open up Messages just for a quick text and it takes forever to load, then when it does there's the keyboard lag which causes me to misspell words. I've gotten acclimated to the touch screen of the Eris, as awkward as it is, so I know it isn't me. It's the lag that thinks I'm long pressing letters to get numbers. making my w456rs l32k !ke this.

I am switching to N1 when it comes out as well. My wife loves the Eris, so I am gving her mine and using her upgrade for the N1...selfish but efffective. The Eris lags a bit too much and with all the mail and texts I do for work need somethign more speedy and capable.

See, I thought the root would prevent me from even touching the processor speed by just deleting the crap I don't need that loads up and uses unnecessary power. I honestly felt that it would bring the usage of my processor down to never really going beyond 500mhz. With that logic, the Snapdragon processor would be overkill and unnecessary. Guess what? No root. The only option is to upgrade if you want to do more. Sounds like a shitty deal doesn't it?

People ask why I'm complaining. I guess more of it is to be blamed on me more than anything else. I had friends tell me for weeks before the Droid and Eris were even out, to go for the Droid. I, like most everyone else in here, went to the VZW store, played with both and like the look and feel of the Eris. My friends still said, "go for the Droid, or you'll be sorry." They mentioned it coming with 2.0, having a slightly better processor, and while Sense was nice looking and really good, I'd still have less of a headache worrying about updates if I had a top-tier Google phone. Not to mention the power sap Sense is, as well as a memory-hog. Still, I said I could live without 2.0, as they told me it would be updated from 1.5 to 2.0 in January. Looks like they were looking at the same rumors we were when we were hoping for the 22nd update that never happened.

So here I am, with this phone that people said would not be enough for me because I tend to do more and expect more out of my gadgets than the average user. Everyone's definition of "light user" is different, but I'm a pretty damn heavy user, using it to check forums, email, scores, etc. to using it when reinstalling Windows last night (tethering) to download 600MB of data from Windows Update because the wireless adapter drivers were not in place and would not work for some reason. I can't live with sacrifices on a phone. Turn off 3G to save power? If I leave it on all the time and really do have a "light-use" period, the phone doesn't last more than eight hours. Why should someone have to ration out usage?

This is my first smartphone, so I'm not familiar with the bullshit RIM put you through, and I understand this frustration is all relative, and me, with no prior experience with OS updates, may be making a bigger deal about it than someone who's been on-board since the Moto Q, Cybiko, and all that other crap. But everyone will agree that data does not need to be turned off when not in use. If you leave it on accidentally for a few hours, it shouldn't have a surprise for you like a jealous mistress when you return, like 40% of your battery is gone.

Good thing my car has a usb port in it so I can use the cord as a car charger if I need to, but why do I have to go to such extremes?

Coming from an EnV, which I had for two and a half years, if I were to get a data plan on that, the only thing that I would miss would be the trackball and/or the touch screen. Then there's the EnV Touch, but why pay more when you still have the original working perfectly fine.

I think an Eris and an EnV will sell for enough on eBay to get enough cash for a Nexus One off-contract, and I think that's what I'm going to have to do. Either that, or wait for the next great Google phone. The Incredible can go to hell. Sense f'ing blows.

Think about this. Sense is the reason you weren't given a root a month ago and it was the reason your 2.0 wasn't shipped with the device or 2.1 took so damn long to be released.

Alright I'm gonna pistol whip the next one who says "shenanigans".....hey Farva what resuraunt do you like to eat at...you know the one with the cheese sticks and all the crap on the walls.

The moto Droid still doesn't have 2.1 does it?

Smacky...I understand your frustration. If I had it to do over again, I'd have the moto droid.
