Root Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for SGS2 Epic 4g touch?

Lurker
Does anyone know where I can find an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4g (Sprint)? I'm looking to temporarily flash a stable Ice Cream Sandwich ROM.

I'd advise checking XDA Developers. The last time I looked, a few weeks ago, the ICS ROMs were still unstable, with some key bugs. This phone will be getting official ICS soon.

I haven't found one yet, but I am eagerly awaiting one.

I know for a fact that there is one in the works by a couple of devs, but obtaining any details is hard to do. I'll post here as soon as one is released.

I've been looking like mad, but there's some sort of turmoil over at XDA... I have a feeling that it'll be a little while yet.

CM9 is very, very close. Bubby will be releasing it soon. There was a version released on XDA this morning from what I understand, but it is really unstable with a lot of bugs.

Keep an eye on the CM7 thread on RootzWiki. I am guessing by Sunday we will have a CM9 Kang that is stable enough for daily use!

Looks like I spoke too soon. Development was going really strong for a while but really seems to have died off recently...

This device gets no love. Makes me miss my Evo. At least that device had huge support. I saw a few posts on the interwebs about MIUI having a ET4G port, but it ended up being just a Epic variation. Either we see some ICS action from Samsung/Sprint (look for the same time as the Nexus release on Sprint) or I am going to have to take another look at the Evo Design...

I'm about 90% sure I'm going to get a Galaxy Nexus as soon as it is released on Sprint. I am jealous that my wife and daughter both have ICS on their Nexus S (official OTA) and I can't get it on my phone yet!

My Co-worker has the Verizon Nexus and frankly outside their kick ass LTE network I don't see what the big deal is. No expandable memory is a deal breaker in my book, the vertical/horizontal screen transition is slow as death, and the nexus camera compared to the epic touch is a distant 2nd. My Co-worker also is running into compatibility issues with certain apps on ice cream sandwich that work just fine on Gingerbread, but I will say that most of these apps are updating rather quickly to work with Ice cream sandwich though.

agreed; this phone blows away the Nexus in every way, shape and form except for Sprints shitty network, and no ICS yet
it won't be long until we get ICS stable, so be patient

Looks like right now the best we can hope for before Samsung and Sprint release the official update is the CM9 Kang on XDA. Bubby doesn't seem to be doing much for the phone anymore since his family switched to t mobile.

I have tried CM9 alpha that is on XDA and it has actually come pretty far. There is still an overheating issue and the camera and Bluetooth do not work which is all that is preventing it from being a daily driver. Even 4G is working!

There is also a leaked test build of ICS with touchwiz that is floating around the interwebs. I watched a video of that running on our phone and all I can say is I am very disappointed! It is buggy which is expected for a early test build but touchwiz makes ICS terrible! It looks almost identical to gingerbread. Samsung is really letting everyone down unless they REALLY make A LOT of changes before it is released!!

Calkulin will be releasing FB15 later today, which should be a lot more stable than the previous leaked build. I'd keep an eye on the xda forums throughout the day for all the ICS goodness.

I just want something tomorrow. I am in limbo right now. I have stock with no
CWM... I can't find a link to fix anything. I just need a way to get a working recovery.... Ahhhhhh.:confused::mad::(

Thanks. Using mobile Odin I was able to get everything working the next morning.

Now I am on CM9 and fb17 kernel with Rogue recovery :D

I just flashed fb21 (CM9 and fb17 kernel) and so far it is working great. No LOS while driving around seattle, in and out of 4g for the first time since switching to CM9!

FB 24 has been released...but no leak yet for the Devs...It will be up soon...Were gettin close to a Final and that will be pushed to the phones in March...but the Devs will have it first...which means will get it first...
