Yes, that the only place was some Twitter or Yes, they have officially announced it?

Yes, that the only place was some Twitter or Yes, they have officially announced it?
Has Verizon officially said they are pushing Android 2.1 out to Eris users in Q1? Link?
Today Verizon said that that the HTC Droid Eris, Verizon's other Android phone, will receive a major software overhaul in the first quarter of 2010. Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney said, "The Droid Eris currently using Android 1.5, can and will be upgraded to newer a Android operating system software in first quarter 2010. The enhancement will allow customers to continue to enjoy the powerful HTC Sense experience while also gaining the additional benefits of Google Maps Navigation."
When asked to clarify exactly which version of Android the Droid Eris will get, Raney explained that, based on the timing, the Droid Eris will be updated to either Android 2.0 or 2.1. We know that Android 2.0 brings some serious platform improvements to Android, but right now we know little about Android 2.1.
Either way, Eris users can be confident that their devices will become uber-Android phones in the not-too-distant future. The combination of Sense UI and Android 2.0 will make for a highly capable device.
What clouded up the truth was people thinking they were cell phone insiders and started speculating their stupid dates. Remember the update on January 22nd? February 12th? 14th? March 1st? Everyone likes to speculate and it's what has ruined every damn thread.
The root thread: "when I get root, I'm gonna fist my wife with it lolz"
"When I get root, I won't clear out apps I don't use, I'll just crank the processor to 4.2 ghz. It is an i7 processor after all."
2.1 thread: "I can't wait to play with Google Goggles. I'll take pics of random things I already know what they are, but see if a phone does too. Then, turn-by-turn directions on Google Maps, because a smartphone should be able to do everything, including keeping grandma's ventilator calibrated at all times. Also, I'm too dumb to read a map, and why should buy a Garmin? I paid for Google Maps. Oh look, someone else is frustrated? ' Hey a$$hole, it's just a phone. You can't expect it to do everything!' Oh yes, and I do hope that they fix......"
We had the hype build up in one thread for two months with 2142 posts. So yes, we have until March-whenever until Q1 is over, but lets just say it doesn't come then and ends up coming out in, say, May. Does VZW really care? You bought the phone, you pay out the ass every month for it, what're you gonna do, break your contract? They'll charge you for that too. They may never release it.
The OTA story, you really believe that crap? It had a link, but so did every other news site about the "mysterious Eris update on January 22nd" and "Eris gets 2.1" when some schmuck didn't know the screenshots and video were either fake or not public.
That's what ruined these two things. Now, our Eris will most likely not be rooted because it's now the Incredible's **** brother, nephew of the alcoholic schizophrenic Aunt Droid, and 2.1 will come and go, probably have some new bugs, possibly fixing the old ones, and that will be it. VZW will tell the Eris to "sod off" and there will be speculation about 2.2 on the Eris, when it will never be announced. But we'll hang on for dear life, like those stupid Duke Nuke 'Em fans have for so many years.

Thanks, but I'm well equipped to do that and have. So that one statement (vague, non-committal and isolated) has generated 2000+ posts of speculation? I'm really interested in something more from the source.
