I hate my phone right now, its glitching bad i cant even use it when my phone is on the charger the lock screen freezes up and alot of other crap, I noticed a new update that my phone recommended me to download, i tried with my rooted phone and just came to a screen with a little exclamation point and the green android man. Anyways I want to unroot and factory reset my phone, download the new update and then reroot. its probably the NOOB way of fixing my problem but im not sure how else to, please help!

2.3.3
base band 2.15
rooted with revoluntionary

also you can get instructions on how to flash a rom from here:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

and you should think about switching recoveries as well. instructions are also found in the guide as well.

okay i didnt unroot my phone i did the new update by downloading the 4.67 rom and went into recovery and installed the .zip file it finished then i reset my phone and it worked but my phone is still glitching up all the time while im texting or looking up stuff on the internet just anything itll go all bizarre i wouldnt even touch my screen and it would be freaking out zooming in/out not letting me press the icons i want to press & instead it chooses another option 2 spaces above -__- whats wrong with my phone?!

try wiping dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

should i do that in recovery mode or using titanium back up and will i still have everything i have on my phone?

always wipe manually with recovery. never have an app do it.i just do not trust apps to do it for me. and yes this will not erase anything unless you wipe data which you should not.

so what is glitchy? what exactly is happening? what rom are you on?

and as far as themes go yes you will only need to wipe dalvik cache and cache before flashing it. make sure to make a nandroid backup before flashing the theme so you can fall back if you do not like the theme. also make sure that the theme is for the rom you are on. most themes are are rom specific.

for example when i am texting and try to press a key itll press the key right above it and i would try to backspace and it would still presss a different key so i would black out my screen using the power button, unlock my phone again and then it would let me press the right keys, at other times while im texting itll just randomly start adding letters without me touching my phone at all and itll go into the text messaging settings...etc... without me touching it
and when browsing on the internet lets say facebbook itll randomly zoom in and out and freak out crazy and its just not those two things it just freaks out in general like if im going through my phone it would press things i didnt press.

and how do you figure out what rom your using???

well have you flashed a rom lately? if so you should alway know what rom you are on. anyways you can check by going to settings>about phone>software info. it should tell you what you are on there. actually it might be under the more option as well.

it sounds like it could be a software issue. have you tried other roms? i would try mikg3.0 (though and update for this rom is due anytime now). you can get from here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html. it is under the gingerbread 2.3.3 sense 2.1 section. check it out. it is waaaaaay better then stock and hopefully will cure your lag issues.

and you might want to try a custom kernel as well and use setcpu to over and underclock your phone. i would start with the universal freedom kernels. start with the aggressive kernel and give it a few days before moving down the list.

here are some readings:

ok from the looks of it you are on just the stock rom. and if you have not switched recoveries after revolutionary rooted your phone then i would consider switching it to amon ra2.3. it is a better recovery then clockwork mod (which is what revolutionary installed for you) will ever be.

also when you flash a rom you need to do more then just wipe dalvik cache and cache. i would wipe everything but the sd card and then flash the rom. also if you switch recoveries then you can also flash vr superwipe. this file will wipe your partitions and even the temp files. it will do this three times. it is just an extra step that ensures you a clean environment for your new rom to be flashed into. it is not necessary, but i do it and never had any issues.

also make sure to do a nandroid backup as well. remember they are your friend. they have saved many times over. always do one before flashing a new rom. that way if you do not like the new rom you can always go back.

you can get intstructions on how to switch recoveries and how to flash a rom and more from here:

Alright well im about to flash to a new rom now because my phone is messing up like no other when its trying to connect to 4g service it stays stuck on the "obtaining IP address" message and ive tried reboots on my phone and does not help so im gonna just download and flash the new rom to see if it helps.

well radios and 4g do not depend on roms as they do not change nor do they increase or get better because of a different rom. i would get wimax checker from the market and see if you still have your wimax keys. it is rare but you can loose them by just flashng things. or if you flash radios it is possible to loose them.

alright did that and it says that my HTC EVO RSA KEY is present

and for the rom thing I cant even transfer the file to my phone because when i connect my phone to my computer a "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZABLE" pops up and i cant get access to my phones sd card through my computer i tried messing with USB debugging, didnt help

ok that is good that you have your wimax keys. make sure that you have at least one nandroid backup that has wimax backed up on your computer and even on the cloud like dropbox if you can.

as far as your usb issue, try rebooting your computer and wipe dalvik cache and cache on your phone and see if that helps.

okay so if my wimax keys are good then could u help me out with why its still stuck on "Obtaining IP adress from sprint.." i figured out the usb problem i was using a bad cable, and i finally got mikg3.1 as my new rom didnt fix the issue i was looking for

it could be a network thing near your area. if you have your keys and you are in a 4g area then i would call sprint and see if there is a known issue in your area.

yeah just called sprint they said there systems did go down, they took me through some steps over the phone to try n reset my network like doing a prl update...etc and did not work, they told me to factoryy reset but i told them i did that ( through the newly flashed rom) right before i called and they said take it to a sprint store so they can test it and if it fails they'lll replace the phone but how do i make my evo back to stock everything? so i wont have a voided warranty
