Eris to v2.x, when?

Really? Crap, I misread then somewhere in this 20 page freeforall. Sorry about the misinformation.

I guess that means that if someone can actually confirm the ability to roll back to 1.5 should you need to, I may have to write off the rest of my afternoon and flash my phone...

The original leak file was corrupted but was fixed.

Only takes 30 minutes or so to do everything. If you are like me though, you will have to write off the rest of the week to play with it.

Hmmm, so it seems the general consensus is that 2.1 on the Eris makes it a pretty good phone...

:)

Very much so. Sure, it's not earth shatteringly better, but it is a definite and noticeable improvement on certain little areas that just bugged a bit. I am very happy...other than reloading all my Better Cut icons...

I don't think anyone knows this for sure, so be careful what you tell people. I'm 99.999% sure you're right, but you never know.

There really shouldn't be any reason we can't. This isn't the same as rooting the phone. Our numbers are still in Verizon's system and they will still send us the info. As long as the OTA is a build number higher than the one we have, it shouldn't be a problem. It isn't like Verizon or anyone else can see what we are using right now.

I'm satisfied with with it til the final version comes out. How do you do text to speech? Is it for email, nav, texting, ?

Can I still upgrade via OTA for the legit version? Yes
Can I go back to 1.5 if I don't like this leaked version? Yes (Though not confirmed)

Dude, I'm with you in that I wish people would spend 5 minutes searching/browsing before they post redundant questions, but pump the brakes here. I've seen NOTHING conclusively answering yes to either of these. Lots of speculation, sure, but internet speculation and a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee and nothing else.

If anybody does successfully roll their phone back, please let us know, but until then, it's a legit question (albeit one I wish people would notice has been asked already about 40 times). :)

I know, I know, and I agree with you. It's just that the engineer in me tells me if it's not been testing and verified and documented, it's not true.

Finding more problems. When put under "normal" load, relative to 1.5, the browser crashes. Actually, not sure if it's the browser or a component of it. I was on this forum when it happened. Screen froze, stopped loading, etc. The a force close prompt came up and it said "Internet Activity" had stopped responding. Not the proper name for the browser, but.. I dunno. I hit the power button and the phone went to sleep, but would wake up and not come out of lock. Had to fiddle around a little bit until it finally worked. I had not force closed the browser at that point. Once the phone finally became responsive, I force closed and everything was alright.

Go ahead and add this to the bug-fix thread. No real fix for it, but it's a known issue.

ok i know how to get the phone in hboot but it just sits there in that screen with white background i downloaded the zip thingy but i dont think im putting it in the right place i just extracted it to my sd card folder with all the other stuff..Like my folder music. some one please help

Don't extract it. Just put the file on your SD card on the top level (not in a folder), that's it. You're making it harder than it needs to be. There's no need to extract anything.

It isn't like Verizon or anyone else can see what we are using right now.

However, when the OTA is made available, won't the installer have the ability to detect which version is on the device and perhaps keep itself from invoking over a leaked 2.1 (or whatever)?

I don't know; just asking.

Try not putting the zip in any folders.

Extracted it as in it is a folder on there now?

It needs to be a zip

and about the browser, try another 3rd party, i know its not a fix but they work well though

dolphin is awesome

ive looked on the different threads and figured this was the place to ask. do you think the official OTA will be released soon? Was wondering because someone told me they usually follow fairly quickly behind supposed "leaks".

thanks for the reply, i just dont understand how to put the download to the sd card i guess the only thing i saw was extract but obviously thats wrong, i just dont know how to put it to the sd card. is it anything like putting music on the sd card im sorry thats just the only thing i know how to do

Honestly, they just got a whole boat load of free testers for 2.1 on the Eris. I don't see why they would find this to be a bad thing. ;)
