also.. the right button on the rosie.. is programmable.
default to run setting "personalize".
if you long press it..set it to run some other app.
i have it linked to google voice.

got everything done! so to update my earlier post i have decided to keep my evo. for how long? who knows? so far as long as roms exist (or i can afford a dual-core)

Now you need to flash a kernel.. And use SETCPU to.. overclock for performance.. And underclock for battery savings

Boot animation is in /data/local and there is a downanimation too.

There are so many roms for this phone it isn't even funny.. and I hear there are developers working on true ICS roms for this phone. The Evo 4G still has a lot of life left in it

I don't know..
If you like to use another launcher.. You shouldn't use a sense base ROM. Sense really loads the system.
Then you add on another ui.. It just puts on too much.

Maybe a non sense ROM.. Then load a new launcher.. This would give you more clean system and improved reaction.. = less lagg

Just my thoughts..

you know something you're right. i went through all that to root and i loaded a launcher. thats like buying watercooling for an oc'd 2500k only to switch it out for a 2500. /facepalm
i'm going to switch back and use the tweak app some more.

CM7 is one of the best AOSP roms. It's small, fast and doesn't have any bloat. And there are tons of themes for the theme engine. The best thing about a rooted phone is that you can jump from ROM to ROM, try them all and see which one is best for you.

it's funny, i came to this thread to give mho about my evo experience. I left this thread a more active member of the forums, with a rooted phone & my cell phone bookmarks changed from cpsp's & different phone models, to rooting guides, roms & kernels all because two people said I didn't have anything else to lose and I agreed

I have been trying to find a good replacement for my ancient Elite III (Froyo ROM), that has a built in A2SD and decent battery life. MikG 3.11 IS IT! It's fast, has a customizable rosie, has decent battery life, has built in A2SD, and is Sense based! My only complaint is that it removed Swype. No big deal though, I'll finally get to give FlexT9 a shot

I am now absolutely going to hold on to my Evo until a TRUE successor comes out.

You can get Swype through their Swype Beta program, that's how I got it on MikG 3.1.

I was in the swype beta back in 2009/2010. Not worth the hassle.

I have it, but there's no swyping ability. So I'm just gonna stick with FlexT9 by Nuance since it allows for swyping words and supposedly has the prediction power of swiftkey.

MikG and tommy's Classic EVO are the best out there as far as sense-based ROMS go.

Pair em with AnthraX and you've got all kinds of goodness.
