so what your saying is-- use my new every two for the incredible on a 2 year contract and in one year upgrade to a new phone with a new 2 year contract at the 2 year contract price?

yea but family members are stuck with the same phone for an extra 2 years.....while you have a new phone

I don't think that's right. Every year the main line can upgrade and every 2 years the other lines can upgrade.....it's just that every other year, the main line will be contracted another year beyond the other members.

Year one say 2010: Main Line and 2 other lines sign 2 yr contracts. Contract till 2012

2011: Main Line signs another 2 yr. (Main line contracted till 2013, other lines still only contracted till 2012)

2012: Main Line and Other Members sign 2 yr contracts (all contracted till 2014)

And repeat....

ohhhh okay....that would be better. It kinda makes everything a bit more confusing and messy though. Having one line that ends later and all that, it's a burden if you want to switch to a different carrier.

So at 2012.....the main line can sign another contract and get another new phone?? Basically, the main line can get a new phone every yea while the others every 2 years?

This isn't really true... for example, an overly simplistic way to look at it would be that existing apps may run faster on a faster processor, but the amount of RAM may affect how many apps can be running at one time. Each time you launch another application, it needs some amount of memory. The more you run, the more memory is needed.

I can see the memory becoming a major issue if you wish to watch streaming video, play games, surf the web or listen to music on it while texting, talking, IM'ing or doing several at the same time.

Folks, in case you haven't figured it out the smartphone is becoming a miniature high-powered computer that also handles voice communication. Truth be told, voice communication is becoming secondary on these devices to communication via e-mail, texting, IM'ing and social media.

Some of the new smartphones coming out today and in the future are going to be more powerful than most Netbooks on the market and will provide us all a multi-media experience should we choose to use them in that manner. The smartphone's become a portable computer that also handles voice, whether we wish to acknowledge it or not, which is why many of us here are concerned about the amount of RAM, the Mega Pixels of the camera, the type of video quality it can capture.

If those of us here wanted just a good, solid phone that can handle menial tasks such as texting and SMS messaging, we have lots of options to choose from. Smartphones are in a league of their own and thus the nit picking over the specs of devices such as the Incredible and N1 are legitimate concerns. But as someone else mentioned earlier, your experience with it all depends on what you plan to use if for. I know I will need a workhorse of a smartphone, as my BB 8830 can't do half the stuff I want/need it to do, which is why I was/am hoping the Incredible would be just that.

The problem with the early upgrade after one year (subsidized price) is that its only offered through Verizon directly (store or online). Will not work if you buy from BB or Google.

My NE2 is not till October, so if Verizon does not offer the Nexus or Incredible through the store or online, so I can use my early upgrade discount then I will buy the Nexus online (full retail) and keep my option for upgrade later. If this happens, I plan on selling my Nexus one and upgrade using my NE2 with what ever super phone is available later in the year.

Don't forget folks. Other lines when they upgrade can choose to only do a 1 year contract or month to month.

Ruben, not sure if you're addressing me. And once again...don't want to come off as an a$$. I actually like the rumor mill. I enjoy off topic posts...and I don't care about grammar. And I am easy if someone wants to complain or get excited about something. I just have a beef with people trying to justify the POSSIBLE acceptance of a lower spec phone. After all....so many people are WAITING for this phone with great expectations. And my point has been that while you can have these expectations it's wrong to think they were ever set in stone....and it's wrong (at least as far as I'm concerned) to take a phone just because it's all we can get from Verizon. Maybe it's a false sense of entitlement but I believe Verizon customers deserve as good of a phone as TMobile, AT&T, and possibly Sprint. And let's not forget the rest of the world. So...if Verizon fails to deliver, as is their right, then why reward them by settling? I'm not so superior....heck I really don't know what I will do...but I haven't waited all these months just to buy an Incredible disappointment. I hope it's not.

Hes probably mostly referring to my posts. I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I know most of you have waited longer than I have and I respect that. I hope the phone turns out to be what you guys really want. What we all want. I was just trying to put a positive spin on it if it isn't. A lot of people are getting down on the phone (me included) and we don't even know the offical specs yet.

Unfortunately, VZW isn't going to give 2 *hits if you waited.. I don't mean to be a jerk or blunt, but it's the truth.. As far as they are concerned they feel like, "No one asked you to wait. Get a moto droid or Eris."

Thanks for all the info DevDroidian!

Heres something i thought was quite amusing
im on the interwebz - Hondahookup.com
Apparently the guy that leaked the original video of the Incredible (Sprint employee one) sold the vid for only $40!

Edit: this thread moves ridiculously fast. I was just on here at 3am PST, and it has gained like 4 pages since. Crazy.

I am about to give up and buy an Eris and update it to 2.1. That may get me through until my NE2 is up in June and then maybe by then there will be news on something more incredible than the Incredible.
