I disagree. Sprint knows that their only chance of taking market share away from the competition (primarily Big Red) is to have the most current, coolest and powerful handsets (in particular, smartphones) on the market. They've done a pretty good job of it to now. Rest assured the S.S. will have a full 1ghz processor and I've heard perhaps as much as 1.5 ghz snapdragon. It will have more bells and whistles than the Incredible and will be their Android flagship handset for the rest of 2010. Verizon may get a phone on par with it this year, but it likely won't be until the back half and I doubt the Incredible will be it. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but given Verizon's woeful track record of delivering cutting edge handsets ahead of the competition, I doubt it.

A big fat +1 to that.

And with that, therein lies the difference with Sprint and Verizon. VZW is #1 in network and subscribers. Sprint needs to make some sort of headway soon if it is ever to compete realistically with big red. Sprint is going to put it's egg in the Supersonic basket, and hope that it, with 4G coverage before anyone else in America, and a cheaper contract plan than competitors will do to them what the iphone did to AT&T.

The Incredible is going to be amazing, I have no doubt in that. The Supersonic will also be amazing, but let's all remember who we're talking about here: Verizon. They have never been known as the ones that will take the lead for new equipment. (Which makes the whole MOTO Droid thing pretty remarkable in a way.) I truly believe that the Incredible will not be on par with what the Supersonic will be though. In a way, the Incredible is just what Verizon wants...a reworked N1/Desire (phones that have already been sold/made for other carriers) and sometime later (my guess is next spring) release their version of the Supersonic or something on par with it.

Just my theory here, can't wait to see what really happens.

(Sorry if this is reply is late, I didn't expect the floodgates to open today, but I do love all the attention and enthusiasm here:))

It's probably the thin design of the N1 that leads to the screen cracking/breaking. No support from the frame means any pressure anywhere on the edge will break, crack or shift it.

I plan on reinforcing it with painted popsicle sticks and duct tape. Duct tape solves everything.

hahah ok

Just wondering...

Looks like a small yellow light. Any explanations?

Looks like a earbud jack to me.
Maybe a mini usb port?

If the N1 is in store and the Incredible stays all red and is thick and heavy I'll go N1 or Eris... N1 haha. I am a little worred about the N1 screens... Apparently them *hits are breaking easily..

I have been keeping up with that as well. Interesting thing to note is that Aaron said that both the N1 and the Incredible have identical screens manufactured by Samsung. I have no idea how we would even know about how well they stand up based on the different body styles until post-marketing reports start coming in.

Look at what is happening with the Storm2 right now. All that testing, and although it is a different screen issue, Verizon stores are sending back all the ones in stock and replacing them with devices with reconfigured screens.

good point!!

It has been a busy day. My ninth graders have a test tomorrow and the yearbook is due at the end of the month. Today I almost want want to look into a different carrier, because I don't think Verizon can offer me anything that I will be happy with. Those new pictures are really disappointing to me. In the words of Luke Skywalker, "What a piece of junk!" I hope that is just an early design. The red and black make it look too much like a toy. I like the look of the Eris, the N1 and the Desire. I think this phone looks like it should be called the HTC Ridiculous! I know some of you like the look, but I don't. I am hoping that this design just is an option. My current phone (Motorola W755) came in black and purple. Verizon does sometimes offer different versions of the same phone. I hope this is the case. These leaked pictures make me want to buy a Droid or leave the smart phone world altogether and get a Samsung Rogue and just be done with it!

The phone does look thick, but I think some of that thickness comes from the weird contours on the back plate. In the originally leaked video (at about 9 seconds in) it looks fairly slim in the dude's hand. I am just floored that, once again, AT&T is getting a more capable and better looking phone. The Desire looks so polished and professional and we're getting a cheap ass plastic looking thing, with flames painted on the side. I am hoping this isn't just a mid to low tiered phone to replace the Eris (Right now, I am half tempted to believe that), because then that joke would be on me for waiting this long for a half ass P.O.S.

I was thinking of this on my way to play ball tonight. Maybe a red and black version..

I gotta get to sleep. I'm toast. I need AF alerts on my celly...

No I don't I need sleep haha peeeeeace

You can expect another 5 pages by the time you wake up in the morning;)

Yeah really! Every time I decide to call it a night and hit the sack, someone comes on here and drops some new crumbs and I'm left licking the plate the next morning.

Seriously. I've been following since page 9. I went to bed last night and someone posts new pictures of the phone, dev posts he has seen the phone again and gives specs, and there are like 5-10 more pages of posts debating what he said by the time I looked at like 6 today. It took me over an hour just to catch back up!

Thank you guys for all the work, but it is getting hard to keep up with!! I also still don't know whether I'll go N1 or Inc, probably will come down to verizon upgrade policy and pricing (Still think I prefer the Incredible though, I hate the trackball)

Ok I could be way off base here on the back of the Incredible and FCC label that passed through as htc pb31200. I thought this was suppose to be the incredible per rumors. I have looked at so many labels, pics, and model numbers that I can't remember now. Look at these pics and see if the match up. The bottom corners look different and the top right corner of FCC label. The difference could be test model and production model or not the same.

Looks like a nice fit to me. The label would be affixed underneath the battery so there's no way to tell for sure from this pic but it looks pretty close to me. There's even a cutout for the contacts on the battery on the lower left.

Yeah, it looks OK to me as well. If DevDroidian gets a chance for more pics, maybe one with the battery out would be nice

You all will probably get some great news tomorrow because I caved and bought an Eris from ebay.
The Incredible isn't looking so incredible so with the leak of 2.1 for the Eris, I am going to play around with that until something more worthy comes along.

Good luck to you all!

My thinking too. I send DevDroidian a tweet asking him to get us a picture of the FCC label underneath the battery if he has another chance.

If it's the same early sample model from Devdroid's January article then it probably won't have FCC labels since PB31200 didn't wonder through the FCC until Feb.

If it does it may be a nice indication of the recency of the version he has access to.
