Root [ROM] Unofficial CM9 (ICS) nightly builds

Still loving it. Flashed the 05 nightly last night and got a big increase in smoothness and speed. The OpenGL stuff seems to be working fine.

How did you do it?
Sorry for such a late reply but if you click on the link in the first post scroll down to notes on installing from sd card and there is a cm9 compatible boot prep img. If you need some help PM me. I'm usually lurking the triumph forums.

Well, I've finally set my new phone down and picked my Nook back up lol.

I just reinstalled ics, the latest build. Boy has this thing gotten alot smoother than it was when I tried it last month. Netflix is still not working as of right now, but everything else seems to be.

Its even more stable than before, enough that I am going to actually leave it installed this time around. Ill update it whenever there is a nightly that has significant changes. Can't wait for the official release ;-)

Check this out. :D

Yes, I missed having downloads in Rom Manager. Still wondering where the ratings for individual builds are, but this beats a kick in the pants.

Might want to install from recovery instead of via Rom Manager tho.

There seems to be zip corruption issues when installing CyanogenMod through ROM Manager. I've found the problem and am fixing it.

I would think you should be ok to boot into recovery via RM tho.

Yea, its totally fine booting into recovery from RM, I'm not too sure why there are problems installing through it, but I've seen this issue several times.

What kind of issues? (Things install, but are flakey OR things do not install?)

Things not installing at all from within rom manger mostly. It will begin the process but fails before it finishes.

I've seen both first hand though. A rom that seemingly installed but seemed to have items either corrupted or missing all together, reducing functionality and making the device unstable.

I do believe, more than likely, these issues usually can be blamed on a bad download from rom manager. I do use rom manager on a couple of devices but prefer to download my larger files like custom roms from my PC. Its just safer in terms of download integrity.

yup...I updated to the 3/10 nightly and didn't have the market  had to reflash gapps. :D

Have to say these are running really well for early builds. I think my only real issue is you tube. For me,they are more useable than stable cm7,which gave me a lot of FCs

Hi Scotty.

My last experience with CM9 on my wife's NC was laggy and had touchscreen and swipe issues, then I noticed later there was a bad build and they suggested rolling back to a previous one, but I had already migrated to CM7.2 Mirage and V6, which seems to run pretty good. I think I'll give it a go when I get hands-on again in a couple weeks.

My impression is the NC is under-powered for stuff. It runs so much smoother on my Touchpad.

from my understanding,it has the same processor as the droid 2,wich is prolly a lil on the underpowered side considering the bigger screen and extra stuff it prolly has to run.

the troubles i had with cm7 were with certain apps... words with friends, xda, and a couple others would constantly FC. it ran smooth as silk, just never could get that handfull of apps i hatrouble with, and you tube to work reliably. :(

i rooted the stock software, and if i always used the zeem launcher i didnt have any real complaints there, quite surpsisingly.all my apps worked, and youtube actually played videos :D i had actually just finished updating to 1.4.2 and re-rooting when i started reading thru this thread and decided to give the nightlys a try.

this cm9 is reasonably smooth, tho i wont lie its far from perfect. there are some touch issues as well, sometimes you gotta touch things a few times. sometimes there is just a lag between touching something, and something happeing  so far i have no app FCs,but neither the you tube app,nor you tube on the browser will play video.

when i first got the nook,i tried the HC roms, and none of them were worth using, laggy and choppy, touch issues like you described.

wile it wont be as good as your touch pad,id say the 3-10 opengl nightly is defiately worth a look and see if it runs beter than the other one you tried on the nook. :D

I never tried the HC roms, probably b/c just knowing how it was created and how often it was updated, gave me bad vibe. I gave my NC to my sister-in-law 6 months ago when I got the TP.

I was using Nova Launcher and now Apex launcher for ICS on my TP, but you have to play with columns and rows to get Apex to not waste space.

im a flash o holic, lol. i change roms on most of my devices like i change my socks :D

i hadnt messed with my nook for a loooooong time(at one point even had it on CL for sale, then let a friend borrow it),then got a hair up my *ss i was gonna fix my flyer up for the GF,since its a very fast, smooth device and shes not to technically savy ;)(read:"things always need to work the way theyre spose to or she freaks out). so the nook as become my "tablet" again, but my tablet needs are pretty basic(basic internet browsing, email, google search, you tube, words with friends, phandroid, xda, rootz, and a handful of other basic games) tho i have unfortunately found the nook with any rom, does not run "brisk saber" so well  :p

never tried any other launchers on my ICS devices, ill have to look into those you mentioned

See, I just don't get some of the touch and lag issues some of you guys are having. I've honestly not be experiencing these problems with cm9 on my NC.

The only real issue I have had with ics so far on the nook is the lack of Netflix support until they figure it out, but its not a deal breaker for me.. I mainly use my NC at school for browsing, email, tapatalk, reading books, etc.

Edit : YouTube app works, just won't play the HD vids.
