"It looks like users of the HTC Vivid 4G LTE smartphone over on AT&T may have a tasty frozen treat waiting for them today. Yes this is the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update with the new HTC Sense UI 3.6 experience. Sadly AT&T has announced that the update is not, i repeat NOT rolling out, although multiple users have received it and a little trick will get you the update today. No hacking or root required."
Maybe AT&T will offer a better update and maybe sense 4.0 later? .. next week.. haha.. who knows.. I need a drink

Sense 4.0 cannot run on an hTC device without the upgraded camera hardware. Only the One X and the S have the image chip/image sense hardware for it to run on. Sense 4.0 has this hardware requirement.
That's why the One V has sense 3.6 with it's lower specs.
This tells me that all hTC devices getting the ICS update will have sense 3.6.
Sense 4.0 will run on the Vivid and many other devices....this is incorrect...

I upgraded using this method. Just make sure you're on WiFi, and the update will start downloading a few seconds after dialing that number.
Citation please.
HTC Sense 3.6 preview -- Engadget
" Second, only the One lineup (X & S) can support ImageSense, which is an integral part of Sense 4.0. Whether you agree with the reasoning or not, this undeniably leads to further fragmentation of Sense -- something we've already seen to a lesser extent with 3.0 and 3.5 -- and it's not likely to get better anytime soon."
The One V didn't get sense 4.0 because of its lower hardware specs (camera) & it does not have the image chip/image sense so, the hardware requirements were not there to run sense 4.0.
Of course developers will port modified roms of 4.0 with some type of (limited) camera upgraded software to run on some devices where it is possible, that received the ICS/sense 3.6 update.
Some devices cameras are not fast enough/lack shutter speed to shoot still pictures while capturing video and or do burst/image sequence rapid succession capture... Idk...sounds definitely like a hardware requirement.
" Along with the ICS update, users can expect to see that HTC ‘s equally loved and hated Sense overlay moved up several notches, to version 3.6. If you were hoping to try out the revamped Sense 4.0, which newer models, such as the HTC One series will sport, you’re in for a disappointment. In the company’s own words, the decision to bar the HTC Sense 4.0 overlay on the older phones was due to hardware requirements. We’re pretty sure that the devs at XDA will beg to differ."
