Eris to v2.x, when?

OK, time for a real question for Cadd-meister or NKT or whoever the wizzard is? My Documents to Go migrated after the download; the version I have now is the free view version; I am not able to find the pay version or full version on download site (market place) when I do a query the only thing that comes up is the free version. I have paid for the darn thing with 1.5 (Nobody jump here and say "I told ya so" crap |8-P sticking your tongue out at me...) (humor/sarcasm/humor) I haven't checked their web site but I figured if it doesn't show up in market, it isn't written for 2.1 yet; any thoughts, suggestions, hey dumb-@$$ it's right in front you as plain as *228!
Try going to the web site in your phone browser and downloading from there. Phone may tell you it's blocked from receiving, but it's just a matter of unchecking a box in the settings. Had to do this with MyBackupPro.

MESSAGE TO HTC AND VERIZON

We know you are reading this. You are aware how long we've wanted this update. Whether the leak was intentional or done by a rogue employee, it doesn't matter. Since Wednesday evening, since this mysterious file suddenly appeared on the internet, the situation has exploded. Tech savvy people to the technologically challenged are attempting to install the 2.1 software in this unconventional way onto the device they have purchased from you. Many have succeeded, however a few have failed.

Those that have succeeded, with a few minor quirks that are understandable, can probably say that the upgrade meets expectation. Those that have failed have either performed the procedure wrong, or had other mitigating issues.

Since it is working, RELEASE THE SOFTWARE. Take control of the situation and give us support.

The number of posts in the last 3 days have spoken of the excitement. We support you, support us.

Message to Verizon:

One of your members is going to be asking for worker's comp. for a kicked-in throat. It was me.

You're welcome

I'm using the "patched" ROM and don't have the sound issue. I do have the lack of images in GMail (like you) and we're using "different" versions.

.

It is my understanding that the Gmail issue is related to the APP and how it relates to the 2.xx software. I've read multiple places that it is a known issue with the gmail dev team.

does anyone know for sure (or educated guess even) if the people who download the leaked rom will still get the OTA because of it wont get the OTA then i guess i wont do it but i am ready to do it like now ... already downloaded it haha

I have not taken the plunge n 2.1 but, I do know that in 1.5, you download the "free" version, then open it to the full version by entering a product key that they should have e-mailed you after you purchased it. If you do not have the original e-mail I think DataViz can track down your number if your e-mail has not changed.

Hope this works

Dear HTK;

1,000,000,000,000,001:rolleyes:

BTW-with in the last 2 days I have only one small bug; I have made a call and silence. The phone indicates a call is in progress but nothing; dead silence. The other person says their end is dead as well. I have read to shut the phone off and on, this does reset the problem...I just wanted to report this and see if anyone else has other solutions than turn the phone off and on. What would happen if I re-installed 2.1? Would it do any good like rebooting Windows? Just wondering; Besides being in the medical profession for 30 years, I did take 2 years off and took computer programming for fun; I don't much about the OS and rooting processes or how the phone boots etc; I know very little about Linux...but I can get through most stuff if I have instructions. Appreciate any help if there is any. Thanks, Scot

Anyone have an educated guess as to whether an updated version will leak soon, or if what's out there will be all there is until the official update.

Backing up my SD card currently so I can do this update.
Will it erase all of my contacts?
Will I have to reactivate my phone?
Do I need to delete everything off my SD card?

Call me a newbie, but i've done research, i've read the threads, i've tried many " versions " of the .zip file, i've tried many times to upgrade to 2.1. I follow all the steps but all i get are messages that the file is corrupt etc.. what am i doing wrong? and what do i have to do to make it work? i dont wanna wait for the OTA upgrade to come out since there's not a set date for that..

Yes it will erase your contacts, unless you were smart and exported themas a csv file and imported them into google, that is of course if they arent on google now. In which case they will all be fine.

No you wont have to reactivate phone. Network will recognize your phones id and be fine.

Yes format card clean fat32 then place the zip file on it unzipped and do the reboot holding volume down and pwr/end button at same time. Back all your current apps up with astro and then back cards entire contents up to computer so when update is done you just have to copy it back onto the card and voilla, your photos, music, etc is all there and reinstall astro from market to restore any backed up apps from you card that you cant get from market.

How do I export them to google?
and how can I put my apps in Astro?

Ok, I couldn't take it anymore so I installed the update. Awesome so far! Only 2 issues I see. Some web pages load up a bit small (no big deal), but the main issue is on 1.5, there was an option to only sync "My Contacts" instead of "All Contacts." Anyway to do that here? This way when I send an email the email address doesn't automatically save to my contacts.

Never mind, found it.

Are you a physician? That's one profession I haven't heard of on here.

It will erase contacts and apps off your phone, but when you sign back into your Gmail account when you first start up the phone and go through the whole introduction, they should be back.

Syncing Google contacts, I think, is done by going to Settings, and syncing through one of Accounts options there. Honestly, I have forgotten the ways of 1.5.

No phone reactivation, but some members reported a roaming sync may need to be done, both options 1 and 2.

fyi.. i get this message that says " wrong image or no image" when i try to run .zip file..

Ok. When you download the correct, patched file, do no rename it on your computer. Simply send it to the open space on your SD card on your phone. Don't put it in any folder.

The phone will find it and read it on its own. It will say something along the lines of "something-something failed" multiple times, but it will eventually get through it and find it.

Where does it fail? Does it say "image failed" four or five times? If it does, how long do wait on that screen before giving up?
