Okay, guys and gals - let me throw this out there and you can file it in the "Take It or Leave It" category. This is for all of you who are like me and are on the fence over getting the Incredible or the Nexus One. It may sound as elementary as anything, but I PROMISE you that if you just try this, it'll begin to make sense as the days (and weeks) go on. So far it's working for me....

Here's what I want you to do - take out a plain sheet of paper (I am using a yellow, lined legal pad) and make 2 full-length columns, dividing the page in half vertically. At the top of one side, write Incredible and on the other side, write Nexus One. Now, draw a horizontal line across the middle of the page - you should now have 4 boxes. In the top 2 boxes (at the top of each box), write the word "PROS", and in the bottom two boxes, write "CONS." Keep this sheet of paper next to your computer at all times!

Now it should be very clear as to what you'll be doing. As you think of them or read about them, start writing down things about each phone that you see as either a "Pro" or a "Con." It's crucial that you jot down EVERY thought that you have, no matter how trite it may seem - be it the red back on the Incredible, or the trackball on the Nexus One - jot it down in one of the four boxes if it factors into your buying decision! There's NO rush to get each box full, and by the time these two phones are finally released, you'll now have a very thorough, very detailed list about what you like and dislike about each one.

This might sound silly, and may draw a few chuckles, but hey - I can promise you that by doing this, it'll give you better clarity in your final decision when it comes time.

As much as this is a terrific idea, I believe it is better fit for when specs and official pictures have been released; otherwise you may be "con-ing/pro-ing" something that isn't necessarily going to be on the actual model.

Now if Verizon does not offer the N1 in store don't blame me haha, you saw what I was told. I am NOT trying to mislead anyone. lol

Thanks for filling us in! I am really starting to believe that the N1 will be offered in stores. And I think this means I am officially jumping on the N1 bandwagon. I've been watching a lot of N1 videos on youtube lately and the device has grown on me a lot. I love the sleekness of it. Really the only thing I wish was different is a trackpad instead of trackball but that's not a big issue for me.. and I guess it would be nice if it had sense but that's not a big factor for me either, I can take it or leave it.

NP man! I am just trying to help out. I am as excited as everyone else here!

Exactly my point!! Write down things such as specs as they become official! This is a work-in-progress!!

I agree. You can't do a pro/con comparison without the accurate specs. HowEVER, I have already run a mental pro/con sheet. If they are both sold and serviced by VZW that would be huge for me. All things being equal, including 524 mb RAM, then it would have to come down to trackball v. optical pad. I kinda like the red (like my sporty car). ;)

Trackball v. Optical pad being equal, there is that noise cancelling microphone on the n1. I'm leaning toward the N1... all things being equal that is. :) I'm just gonna have to wait and see. :) :)

Oh yes, forgot about the noise canceling mic. That would be very nice too.

Your letter to VZW was asking questions specifically about the N1. I don't see how she could confuse it. I hope not, anyway.

Its Kappy's letter, not mine. Again I don't think she is confusing it. I think she saying (to my understanding) "I do not know the launch date for the nexus one.". Then after the bit about keeping up with technology I understand her to be saying "We are receiving training for our new google device so that we can be ready when Verizon launches its own new Google device". Hence to me "out new google device"=Incredible. By Verizon policy she cannot call it the Incredible yet.

I'm sorry to be a debbie-downer for those that are reading between the lines of Kappy's email, but I see nothing in there that implies any other device besides the Nexus 1 that Kappy originally asked about. The simple switch of "google nexus" to "google device" seems to be simply symantics to me - kind of like not referring to the same subject over and over by the same descriptor to avoid redundancy.

The message has some great info, though, and can definitely sway the decision of someone like myself. Good info, Kappy!

I find it ironic that this phone is the incredible and what has really turned out to be truly incredible is all the work you guys have done in finding information and making well educated guesses. If people can work so unselflishly to find information on a phone, imagine the things that could be done that are far more important... Good work everyone. I think I am out tho for the night. I'm beat.

Gotcha! As like Steven, I'm also running a mental pro/con list (saves paper;)), but at this point, there are very large holes in what I feel are important features in swaying the vote.

Like I said right away, file this under "Take it or Leave it." If just ONE person can benefit from doing this, then it will all be worthwhile! :)

Right now all you can do is decide whether you want a Sense UI phone regardless of the wait, or you just want a snapdragon Android phone. Because I swear if someone says "I really want a Sense phone but not thatI wont get the Incredible because of the red back" I'm gonna smack them. Yes I will hunt you down through the internet, travel to your door and smack you (and statistics bear out 10% of you will like it). Don't like the RAM of the Incred, fine. Don't like Sense, fine (though you may want to stop eating lead paint chips aka wall candy). But no because of the red back? Thats just sad.

Okay, I know alot of people are stressing out over the red back. Well, I came across another picture on Flickr taken with the ADR6300 that we all pretty much know is the Incredible. Well interestingly in this photo is a phone laying on the desk. Guess what color it is. Black face, red back. Now this obviously isn't the Incredible as it's the wrong shape with maybe a qwerty keyboard, so I'm thinking this gives extra weight to the test phones having colored backs theory. What do you guys think?

Here's the photo:

Looks like one of those Project Pink phones rumored to be on Verizon ... just a guess.

hahahahah! Well said!!

One thing to add about the Nexus track ball vs the optical on the Incredible - there are currently ROMs and apps that are designed to utilize the trackball's capabilties for notifications. I know I personally look down at the color of the light on my Storm to see what kind of msg is being sent, whether it be a missed call, a sms, a mms, etc. I am sure that the Incredible may be capable of the same thing, but from the indicator light in the top right that we have seen in the pics and videos. I will see if I can find the link to that if anyone is interested

I'm wondering the percentage worried about the red back that wouldn't be putting on a protective skin regardless of the back's color anyway.

Who knows. I like the red back. It will keep people from insulting you by asking you if you have an Iphone since the back won't be black or white. Because if someone asks you that you're going to have to punch them in an attempt to knock the stupid out of them. Then no matter the fact that question is the ultimate insult you'll actually get in trouble.

I don't like the red and black, but that isn't gonna stop me from buying it when all is said and done. maybe now that I'm not at school I can go back and watch the sense video that was posted in this thread. I have no experience with sense. I must learn more about Sense. Since I saw that last picture taken from the incredible....with that other phone sitting on the desk. I am half believing that HTC color codes their test phones according to company. So, ALL the Verizon phones are black and red.....AT&T Blue?? Just a theory....I must just harness my CHI and wait until we have more official pictures and specs....but it ain't going to be easy.

Well, there isn't any evidence that the phone is a tester phone or a personal phone.. and there haven't (to my knowledge) been any more rumors of any other HTC phones coming out that remotely have that shape for VZW (although, they could be keeping it under wraps extremely well).. so I don't know how far that logic will take you.

Remember, VZW HAS put out strange colored (including red) phones before..

I tried to send CS an e-mail...the page won't even load. My husband gets excited over computers and games. I love phones. It's all about portability and convenience.

And a white smartphone, mine, the xv6900.

Yup I'm still rocking the xv6900 too. Man I tell you I want to throw this thing through the wall almost everyday waiting for the Nexus or Incredible. Good thing about the xv6900 is that you can get a little taste of android with it for now. xda FTW!
