I can't remember in the N1 has multi touch and I am too lazy to go look right now.
It didn't have multitouch initially, but it got an OTA update that included multitouch within a few weeks of coming out.

I'm worried about the Incredible really only being the new Eris. I'm worried about the N1. Even if it is sold in stores (which I am becoming more and more convinced it will be), what about the screen cracking so easily? I can't remember in the N1 has multi touch and I am too lazy to go look right now. I drooled over the N1 at first, but then I saw it was only sold by Google and not available on family plans. If it comes out with those available on VZW, I will be happy and confused again. I have been set on the Incredible for so long now. But now I am worried the Incredible won't live up to its name. VZW is going to give me an aneurysm.
Something just occurred to me that MIGHT explain the positioning of the Incredible as other than a flagship device. Now...I'm not saying it won't be a flagship device...I'm just throwing another idea into the mix. Everyone is going on the assumption that we are waiting for the next great thing from Verizon. We are also just sure that Verizon will want to compete with the Desire on AT&T and the N1. The argument has been...."why would they release a less powerful phone?". This argument has been used many times with regard to RAM. BUT....WHAT IF....
The Incredible were actually more of a mid level replacement for the Eris? What if they are just upping their game....and that the true flagship device will be the iPhone?
Paradigm paralysis will keep you in a fixed state of mind. But what says the next flagship is Android? Dial the clock back to this last year. So many people were dying to have the iPhone be on Verizon. So...AT&Ts exclusive with the iPhone is rumored to be ending....and there have been rumors of an iPhone for Verizon. AT&T smartly grabs the gorgeous Desire...that we all want...because they need a replacement for their exclusive contract with Apple. Meanwhile, whose to say Verizon didn't listen to the clamoring from last year demanding the iPhone? If so, it would explain their positioning.
Okay, this is ALL just conspiracy theory. I admit even this is a long shot. Ultimately though, we could be surprised by the eventual specs and positioning of the Incredible...because you never know what's really happening behind the scenes.
One last opinion...6 months ago I would have taken the iPhone on Verizon so fast it would make your head spin. Today...what I really want is the Desire. I would take it over the iPhone in a heartbeat. That's an example of how things have shifted in Androids and HTCs favor. What if Verizon didn't get the memo?
Kappy's VZW email went viral!! Way to go, Kappy! BGR and PhoneArena made mention of the details of your letter!
How many years have you had Verizon service? I've emailed them but I got a form letter response. I've had VZW service since 1998 but I switched over to AT&T for the iPhonefor a few months so I lost my years of service which is why I probably just get form letter responses now.
This is my thought (it's only worth $0.02)I was thinking something similar but more along the lines of this:
The incredible is a mid level replacement for the Eris.
The Nexus One gets released in store as a new top tier device.
This is my thought (it's only worth $0.02)
But with Verizon discontinuing the Eris and with the possibility of the Nexus One coming at the end of the month, I believe the Nexus will be the Eris replacement (both have the trackball too)
And that the Incredible will be the Droid replacement, I think the final Incredible will have more memory and wont be the red even tho I would get it either way.
if it is in store, I am def. buying insurance (if I decide to go with the N1).

Another thought... The Devour is coming out this month too, and it's a mid-level android device. Although they could, why would Verizon put out two new mid level devices in one month? It seems to make more sense that the Devour is the new Verizon mid-level, the Incredible is the new Verizon high end, and the Nexus One is in a class of it's own, since it's on multiple carriers.
Edit: I realize it might not all be within one month, but still released pretty close together.

This makes me ask myself why Verizon would be selling not one but TWO high end devices at the same time, namely the n1 and the incredible? It makes me second guess if indeed Verizon will be selling the n1 at the store, rather than Google's selling it exclusively online. (no offense meant, Kappy).![]()

That's a pretty interesting thought. However, there was a release in the last couple of weeks that stated Apple was having issues with CDMA and it would be 1st Qtr 2011 at the earliest before the iPhone hits VZW. I think the link may even be hidden in this thread somewhere.

With the N1 screen issues, I think the screen cracking will be TAKEN CARE of by the time VZW get it. That's why there is the supposed delay in launch (screen issues) and we all know VZW is hardcore on testing its devices. I think they will have it squared away and if it is in store, I am def. buying insurance (if I decide to go with the N1).

The only thing I read was about a screen cracking in someones pocket?? I am still sporting a BB Curve so I have a case, so those that have touch screen phones is this an issue...? How about dropping the phone? It happens to everyone now an then, I can't wait for the incredible as everyone else but how fragile are they?? Sorry if this is off topic but had a LG Dare but nothing with a glass screen yet....
I don't know how manufacturing works, but I would think that if they were to attempt to fix the screen cracking problem - which is a hardware issue - there'd be no way VZW can release it by the end of this month. Assuming that issue was just recently discovered, and that the N1 has already gone into testing, they would need to replace every single screen and redo the factory lines. I don't know how difficult this would be, but I'd think much harder than a software issue fix.Yeah I was referring to the screen getting hairline cracks in it and HTC saying it shouldn't be carried in peoples pockets or people with skinny jeans.
Also,CNET UK said they left it on their desk and came back in the afternoon and it was broken. Untouched sitting there. Just cracked. I find that hard to comprehend...
