Help 4.04 for CDMA Still Going to happen?

SO if google has dropped support for the CDMA phones, are we still going to get 4.04? This was the whole reason I bought this phone, so missing out on updates really feels like a slap in the face.

Anyone have any ideas??

Who/where does it say they dropped support?

Last i heard verizon was testing it, which is the reason for the delay

Google has NOT dropped support for CDMA phones. They are simply not considering it a "developer phone" that they can directly roll out updates for. The reason is because the technology VZW uses requires them to sign or authenticate the radios/build (I don't remember the exact reeason but something like that) before it rolls out.

So, because the LTE Galaxy Nexus requires VZW be involved in the update process, Google no longer considers it a "developer phone". They will still build and release updates, the only difference is that each update does have to go through VZW before being rolled out.

I don't think this will cause extended delays between the GSM update and the LTE update. My money is < 2 weeks.

Then why didn't we see 4.0.3? I really needed that update because of bad bluetooth problems I'm having. I don't know if 4.0.3 would have fixed it, but bluetooth bug fixes were listed as part of the update, and all I know is that staying on 4.0.2 is certainly doing nothing for me.

Oh, and I'm not going to blame anyone for being pissed at Verizon. So far I've been very displeased with nearly every aspect of my experience with them.

We had 4.0.4 for well over a month now. They might not have released it through official channels but we had out long before the gsm model. If you are stock and rooted it is a simple cwm flash no loss data just like an ota.

Because of how long(and probably expensive for them) the approval process for updates is with Verizon I am sure they would rather wait and give you larger more significant updates less frequently than smaller ones more often.

4.0.3 as rolled out to a small test group of Nexus S owners. This resulted in a number of reported problem and thus google discontinued the plans for expanded roll out. Presumably they decided to just roll out 4.0.4 and skip 4.0.3.

Technically, the latest official from prior to last weeks 4.0.4 was the 4.0.2 we are all running.

Thanks guys. Sorry, I haven't been tracking the releases closely enough, and Wikipedia let me down by not mentioning any of that stuff.

Still, the fact is that I - and many others, I'm sure - bought the GN specifically because it was a Nexus device. Now it seems we only get half of what makes a Nexus device - namely the lack of manufacturer skinning and stuff. We're not going to get the updates when they come out, and I would have assumed that this would be something that could have been figured out before the phone was released.

Basically, I'm upset because this phone is not what was promised. Verizon didn't care about it, Samsung didn't make full accessories for it, and we can't use the latest updates. After owning the G1 and the Nexus One, this is a big let-down.

Its too early to fret about "not getting timely updates". Its been what, 2 days since the GSM version got 4.0.4? Let's give VZW at least a week before we start rounding up a mob. I expect it to be < 2 weeks. If its more I'll be right there with you calling for heads to roll.

I have read - on multiple sources - that 4.0.5 for Verizon Nexus is slated to be rolled out sometime early this month (of course, knowing how some tech sites love to cite each other, it may have only come from ONE source and then repeated everywhere).

So I'm also on board with the 2 week wait. We'll know by then how 4.0.5 is shaping up for us.

I think it was panda on twitter who said that 4.0.5 was coming first or second week of April. Of course, this is all dependent on it meeting Verizon's testing requirements. Which is one of the things that kept delaying this phone from launching in the first place. Even so, we're probably going to hear it from the RAZR/rezound users for a little while if they do get 4.0.3 next week as they expect.
