Eris to v2.x, when?

EXACTLY---A combination bug someone may not have picked up on...HEY VZW or HTC or ANDROID or WHO EVER...look into this lil bug please..so far, the format sd,,,re-download, place PeanutButterZeroZeroIMG file on sd..load back on phone..start phone..copy files back to phone from copied sd information and data is working...............so far. :confused::D:rolleyes:
 
anyone have any ideas on why i cannot sync/tranfer files by hooking up to my computer? I've tried all the settings under pc connection. The phone charges but there is no notification to allow to drag files from my pc. Any one else having this problem?
 
Hi. I recently installed the leaked 2.1 and it was working nicely. Then I started getting problems and force closes so i did a hard reset and now when it tries to program the phone via *228 it fails. Did I brick my eris?

Menu->Settings->Connect to PC

No, A bricked phone is when it will not even turn on. Reload the 2.1 .zip file and start over.

It might be a program that you installed. You have to be careful while loading the programs that you used with 1.5 onto 2.1.

Thank you. I went to bed discouraged because I thought my baby (eris) was dead and useless. When I woke up i tried *228 again and it worked. I guess Verizon was doing overnight maintenance but now my baby works better than ever.

Same for me. I think when VZW customer service is closed, you can't do *228. It's happened to me before, and only when hey are closed. :)
 
Sorry if this has already been posted.. I tried reading through this thread. I gave up after the first couple thousand posts...

But I've noticed that when I click on a web link from say, gmail or facebook (really any link not in a browser), the browser opens to a blank screen and looks like it begins to load, but then a few seconds later it closes and I'm back to whatever app I was in before. I can click the link again and the page loads fine.

Has anyone else had this issue? 2.1 has been great other than that little annoyance.

Check the bugs and fixes thread. I think it was brought up there and may or may not have been resolved.

My links in gmail seem to work fine. but i did notice even in 1.5 facebook links often goto blank pages.

Only problem ive had with 2.1 is when i restarted phone google couldnt log on automatically, i had to re-enter my pw. that will probably get fixed with pfficial update, and its not like i restart more than once a week anyway. Overall, super glad i updated with leaked 2.1. looks and runs great.
 
DEFINITE BUG---4th time now my phone went silent, this time during a call while the wifi was looking for connections, last 3 times was dialing out or someone dialing in and silent phone or dead phone space.......one after receiving a txt message and another after getting a voice mail and a message; the third was after after an email..seems to be when you are calling or make a call or in a call when a second application using the same connection occurs.

I may try reformatting the sd-again, only this time, the only thing I am going to migrate back to the sd are my pictures and contacts..nothing from the old 1.5 and see if that makes a difference...I hope those reading can fix this before the OTA AND the OTA is bug free, or at least doesn't have this one in it..so far I just turn the phone off and on again..annoying but not impossible to deal with.
 
my phone was being perfect, and then it lost battery life and now swype uninstalled and it's turning off every time i try to install

Hmm.. I tried these procedures to try to get it go silent, and I couldn't. That is kind of a an odd procedure though, talking on the phone, while trying to connect to a wifi network? Doesn't seem like that often of an activity...
 
Also I think we should all remember that the combination of apps each one of us has can be a factor in stability of the 2.1 beta.

I remember when I first got my droid eris in late January, I downloaded a bunch of apps and my soft keyboard force quite everytime. VZW tech support had no idea, and had me system restore.

So I definitely think it's better to keep your phone as clear as possible and not download 60 apps you never use as soon as you upgrade. Or do it slowly, and you might have an inclination if the last app installed is causing a certain issue in the 2.1 beta OS.

The wifi search I thought had completed but was still running; or should I say connected at the time- when the call came in; I answered, then went to silence.

Sorry, I meant of swype. mine died that other day cuz i had the leaked version and it said "trial period expired." But there is a new beta version that is available.

Yep this has happened to me...Missed quite a few calls because of this..Kind of regret installing leaked version now because rebooting in order to get sound back is getting annoying.
 
Anybody that is having the cell standby issue want to test this for me?

My battery life has been pretty bad with 2.1 and I have noticed that I am constantly seeing cell standby at 50%, but not having any reception issues. Earlier tonight I needed to charge my battery back up quickly so I put the phone in airplane mode for about an hour while it charged. When I took it off the 2 hours ago I noticed that I had full bars, but didn't pay any more attention to it. I just looked and cell standby is clean. I have also been surfing the web for the last 2 hours and my battery is at 91%.

Test it out and see I'd this helps.
 
my phone (on 2.1) has been on for almost 24 hours without charging at all and it's at 40% battery with on-and-off usage. pretty impressive compared to 1.5

Trying it now... Phone has been charging for about an hour. at 87% now. Just put it in Airplane mode. Noticed it asks me to login to Google... apparently it can't login while in Airplane mode.

Will let you know what my Cell Standby says when done. Currently I'm at 50% as well...
