Root [ROM/CWM/Kernel] CM7.2-RC1-requisite0 [BETA2]

I use it daily, it is working very well. True with the camera though, I use mine alot too but I have been able to deal with it. This has worked better than the beast and the monster for me. Neither one of those had any improvement I noticed and I had alot of issues. But alot of people like them. I'd go with the newest monster version, mY second favorite

No monster bashing. Lol.

Hey everyone -- I wanted to share the steps I took to get this up and running since people seem to be having troubles.

All of this assumes you already have your phone rooted with CWM installed and can get to CWM (by holding power + volume down + back button when the phone is off, or by issuing "adb reboot recovery").

1.) Flash requisite0's kernel and recovery from CWM.

2.) Reboot to requisite0's recovery (if you're still in recovery just navigate to the advanced menu on the first screen and choose Reboot Recovery).

3.) Install requisite0's Alpha2 build, then Reboot Recovery from advanced menu (Not sure you have to do this, it's just what I did).

4.) Install requisite0's Alpha4 build.

5.) Install gapps (This is the gapps updated by L0rdWaffles so that it properly mounts system).

6.) Boot the phone and then from ADB run this command:
Code:
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 'update secure set value="1" where name="preferred_network_mode"'

Optional:
7.) If the setup your phone screen went away because of the phone process force closing you can still setup your Google Account. Just press Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Add Account, then put in your Google Account details.

That's it, you should now be on Alpha4 of requisite0's awesome CM build!

*As an aside, I understand that data and mms are not yet working in this build. I'm using a Samsung Vitality strictly as a Wifi Google Voice/Groove IP phone so this wasn't a problem for me but I suppose if this is your primary phone that may be a bit much.

Yeah, I neglected to carry over some options from the Alpha2 installer script to Alpha3 and Alpha4. This is fixed in Alpha5, along with the com.android.phone force close loop (thank god). Still working on getting the install script to properly backup and restore carrier settings before I release alpha5 and move on to the camera.

Thanks for all your support guys, it means a lot (especially when I get frustrated like I have been).

I'm so flashing alpha 5 when you release it I just prefer to have data that's all question when data gets working will mms work as well

yes it will :) sadly though i flashed monster 4 and fell in love :D so i wont be using cm daily like i used to till they get oc going :D

I Don't Know Why People Keep Asking For OC. The Most Important Thing Is A Fully Functioning Trouble Free Smooth ROM. Once That's Accomplished I Would Worry About OC. @requisite0 You Should Get IN Contact With Playfulgod So That He Can Help You With The ROM? His Wife Just Got The Admire So He Might Help You Out. I Remember Whe He Was Working On CM7 For The Ascend He Also Had Problems With Data And MMS And He Also Had Problems With The SIM Card Error.

I agree, I love Monster 4, it has a lot of ICS looks to it and CM7 as well. I am going to use it for a while and definitely consider it a good backup rom in case I get bored. I'm still going to flash requisite0's CM7 when its done. The only reason I haven't flashed A4 is because I can't do without data and MMS.

OC isn't a ROM specific feature, it's a kernel specific feature. But I do plan on adding it to the kernel after I get CM to a beta state.

I know but your kernel only works with cm so you can say its a package deal. All i was saying as Rom go i prefer monster for now. Until oc comes along with cm :) something im really looking forward to

No worries... the overclocking implementation in the kernels should be cake compared to the ROM work requisite0 has been working on... just hang in there ... I guarantee within a month of a beta release for cm7 you will get a nice kernel to flash with it for overclocking...

Sad thing for my prevail is.. our senior dev left us to go to the Htc warp development and we still don't have the mms working perfect.. in order for me to send a mmef- I have to disable wifi... but its really no big deal... before that it wouldn't even work :p

Sent from my SPH-M820 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

only over wifi but sms and mms havent worked yet. only telephone

i distinctnly remember using txts when i was testing alpha 4 i just could get mms x.x maybe im imaging things ill have to flash it again to be sure but i do believe everything but mms/data/service and camera are working.

Ill most likely be using his cm7 when its stable. Lol. I'm not too much of an advanced dev but I add a lil of my personality to roms. Trying to learn java as I go. I always show credit where its due so I will be showing RQ some love. But as I was saying. I barely changed anything from the beast to the monster. Added some of my favorite things and tried to replace things that were missing from the beast. But when this is done I'm probably gonna use the boot.img to port miui. As long as we have ppl willing the admire will be awesome!
