Root only the default ringer works, but not individually assigned ringtones (via Contacts)

i have had no problems with custom ringtones in the past, but recently, my latest flash of tommy's classic senseless has apparently caused this issue to creep up. the default ringtone will work fine, but it seems like it overrides individually assigned ringtones.

anyone have any ideas? there are a few other posts out there from awhile ago but there don't seem to be any definitive resolutions.

Are you using the default people app to assign ringtones or another app? Personally I have used Go Contacts and now use TouchPal Contacts and have not had an issue with either of them setting and keeping the individual ringtones. However I may be more the culprit there than the programs as I also delete all the stock ringtones and add my own in but thats just me. Not sure if that will solve the issue or if it will just play the new default Ringtone.I also set the default from Sound Settings and not personalization.

i am using the default Contacts app, but there's a "People" app that's pre-loaded in this classic senseless ROM, and i'm wondering if that's the culprit. i'll try freezing it and see what happens.

You can safely uninstall all the AOSP apps. Tommy include them both so people would have a choice.
