Yeah, I thought it was going to be more than $200 because of the rumored 2640 battery plus all the new things. I think it is good they left out the earphones to keep the price down. People are always complaining about Beats anyway. Best to let people buy what they want.
The EVO does have Beats Audio integration, but I haven't seen a sticker on the phone.. which is fine by me. But I did hear it from Sprint in at least one of their press releases.
However, The phone will not come with Beats headphones... nor will any future HTC device: HTC Says Farewell To Beats Headphones – Will No Longer Bundle Them With Future Devices

Specifically the kickstand. I would have gotten the E3D last year if it had a kickstand.
I'm a kickstand fan, too. I like how this kickstand is in the middle of the phone and spring loaded... as compared to the EVO 4G, being in the middle should provide us more stability, and spring loaded allows for you to prop it up on either side.. There are even picture of it being propped up in a landscape position.
In any case, I'm glad they brought it back!
Whoever ask about seeing a sim card in the LTEvo was right! I have an account with HTC Elevate and for guild line purposes I couldn't post the link....It's not visible and it's embedded sim! I guess I can use this bad boy oversea's!!
This would be very interesting.
Only downside is will Sprint unlock the phone? They got very strict with the Iphone I wonder if it will be like that now with all their world phones.

This is part of the reason that I'm keeping the Photon, no matter what phone I decide to upgrade to. The Photon isn't a locked and has been proven to work with certain international SIM cards. Since it was dubbed an world phone when released, it made sense. The LTEvo wasn't mentioned as an international phone, so I can understand why it would be a locked/integrated SIM just for LTE.

I don't if anyone has mentioned this, but it seems El Tevo also has the same imaging capability as the Xperia S.

If you look here at around 1:14, you'll see he can wake the phone straight into camera mode by just holding down the camera button. Sounds pretty awesome to me, especially considering in the head-to-head One X vs Xperia battle, the only place the One X lost was wake-to-snap picture taking.

Yes it can. This was a feature added on the EVO 3D and is supposed to be native with all ice cream sandwich devices.

Also the camera button just goes to the camera app. So if your phone is locked by pin/pattern, pressing it will open camera, but rest of the phone is still locked.

I recall someone or people stating possible reason for the two tone back covering....Engadget was told by HTC during Sprint media event
According to HTC, the dual-material rear was put in place to make it easier for users to position their hands while taking photos -- in other words, you can feel the difference on the back without looking

Without question, the use of plastic on the top back portion is to allow the radio waves to pass through easily. So HTC's reasoning with engadget is a bit weird. If all they were going for was a different texture, they could have done a matte or textured plastic backing as well. Evo 3D is a plastic backing with diagonal rubberized striations, for example. So, I see no reason from a functional standpoint for the gloss texture. It was a purely aesthetic decision.
Again, I'm referring to the texture, not the material. The material was clearly chosen to maximize signal strength.
The dedicated camera button also helps orient the phone so you know where the camera is.

I've been wondering about the slick plastic as well.
Yes, the plastic itself is used to improve the signal, but why use slick shiny plastic instead of a texture that would match the rest of the back?
One reason could be aesthetics, as Novox suggested
Another could be so the person to tell when they are touching the area getting close to the lens, as Sauske pointed out from that article, but I dunno about that since the camera isn't flush, so someone would already know if their fingers were getting close to the lens.
Personally, I have been wondering if the glossy black finish is flat and shiny enough to work as a mirror. Like how some older phones had the little silver dot next to the camera so you could use the reflection to take shots of yourself.
Yes, the FFC would work for this purpose, but it has a fraction of the resolution. So maybe if the black is glossy enough, and flat enough, and positioned correctly, it would assist with self-shots? Just a thought.

I read that too, and it made sense for the color difference IMO, but not so much for the glossy texture.
Yeah, that's a very good point. Someone will definitely sell alternative backs for this thing. Red, Pink, Blue, Carbon Fiber, etc.
