Root Get LG to release the sources!

If you appreciate this device, and would love to have the sources for it, so we can attempt to fix the annoying problems ( since LG seems to lack to the will to want to do it themselves) . Then please go to lg's website, scroll all the way down to the bottom of their page, and click "contact us" or follow this link http://m.lg.com/us/support/contact-customer-service fill out their form, and request the sources to be released for the ms840. And make sure they know that they are under violation of the GPL

Actualy, I decided to remove the original post here. Because I know somebody wouldn't read my warnings, and decide to just start compiling and go flash happy on their device, and bricking their phone.

Cheers!

no its not the source code for your phone, its for the lg viper LTE on sprint

it will not flash crap on your baseband just wont boot :)

This is what i typed to those hippos since they wont do shit I hope everyone else will write to them as well. Please Release the source for our LG Connect 4g or MS840 phone soon as possible, as you have reached the point of violation of the GPL. Since LG decides to release very unstable, buggy, laggy in other word horrible Software for their phone it will be greatly appreciated if we can have the source to do something about them. Thank you

why the hell are they taking so long to release the source code, I swear at the rate I cant wait until metro releases a samsung 4G higher end or similar specs to the connect and I will get that instead, they usually release the code early, there is always some issue with LG, updates, source code.

LG wrote back to my email

Here is what they said....

" Dear xxxx,

I will be more than happy to address your concerns ; the LGLS840 is listed and is a similar model of a major carrier. I encourage you to use this until the MS 840 is added. We ask your patience and understanding in the matter. "

I'm not too pleased with their response

i agree that doesnt help, LGLS840 is a different model, so im guessing different kernel version, and different radios frequencies, I dont understand why did they tell you to use the other one while the MS840 is out.

I'm not sure, but I may hit them up on their live chat, and talk with one of the agents. Try and get more info out of these hooligans!

This is the reply I got today guys.
Dear Dulal,

I will be more than happy to address your concerns; please continue to check the following link for any source coding. Also remember this phone was recently released within the last month so it may take time to have the information updated if it is not already up to date. We thank you for your patience and understanding in matter.

are they waiting until ICS hits this phone and then release the source code? keeping track from LG which are always late at releasing updates I dont have my hopes up, I will probably change phones by the time they update their phone to ICS, to the new android that comes out.

These guys are going to get tired if me real quick. Even if they were to wait till they roll out ics on the phone to release any sources, they still need to release sources for our current 2.3.6 rom and kernel!

I understand patience is key. But not when other models of our LG Cayman are getting sources released. The LG ls840 is not even out yet, and yet they released the sources for it already.

I'm not letting my issues with LG opensource go lightly, yes its only been a month, but just as the LG viper, our phones should have had a source release once it was finalized for the device ( before the phone was released )

And my concern with the email they sent back to me, saying to use the LG ls840 source, in a nutshell, yes it might be able to work. But then again, more than likely will not.

They still have yet to respond to me about the response letter I sent back to them:: " since you have told me to use the LG ls840 sources for my ms840 device, I assume you have also given me the right to hold LG accountable for any mishaps"

I'm really getting annoyed by these jerkoffs at LG mobile division.

The only way to find out if it is true ( I'm sure there will be tons of problems without modifying the sources) is, you must compile and test it out yourself. If a dev would like to make changes and compile these sources, to test some things out. I will be glad to use my device to test on.

the source probably would work, per gpl they are required to release the source for this model tho. even if they rename it then that would cover their ass, but right now they arent following the rules
