Root [ROOT] For LG Esteem ZVC!!!

Ok for those of you having some issues with rooting. Just an FYI. I originally downgraded to ZVB and had issues with my phone showing up with drivers installed. Come to find out it was the USB cord itself. I was using a cord that would charge from PC but did not recognize the phone. When i used the cord that came with the phone my computer automatically recognized the phone, and the drivers installed with no issues. I used this root on my Girlfriends Esteem with ZVC on it, and had no issues at all, ran flawlessly the first time. Thanks for a great product.

So i would say if your having trouble getting your PC to recognize the phone even after installing drivers make sure your using the USB cord that came with your phone, and make sure the connection is in INTERNET Mode.

There are different versions of micro-USB cables like three, four and five wire (I believe, I'm in my car right now with limited connectivity so I can't really look it up). Is there any way you can look at the connector ends and let us know which one worked and which one did not? I want to order some extra cables on monoprice.com but i want to make sure I get the right ones.

I believe the cable itself is universal..it is the plug that differs..Amp..ect. Always good to use the plug that came with the phone(or one that matches the specs)..quicker charge.
 
SO I was able to root on ZVC download Rom Manager Premium used CWM and actually have a backup done...once I went to add a ROM(GingerSteem Extreme II) I was golden...all until I decided it would be a great idea to go back to the stock Rom from MetroPCS. I used the backup and was fine but then made the bone head move...I decided I wanted to clean my phone and start with a fresh internal SD(thought 2GB of 4GB was not enough with all the crap that was already there for future ROM's) I held both volume keys and the power button, release the power button at vibrate then hit it twice to clear the phone...now for some reason the phone boots from the LG screen into CWM but once in CWM I can't get out...and yes I did try to restore from my back up...it actually goes through the process and says it's restored once I choose reboot system now nothing happens...still in CWM. Any suggestions??? Am I screwed or is there an easy way out and I'm just missing it?
 
Pull ex sd from phone..insert in cpu..pick a rom in all-things-root sticky..download to ex sd..put back in phone..flash rom downloaded in recovery:thumbup::D
Edit: pick a zvc rom..if you want stock back can do later after you are up and running again;)

gonna give it a shot now...I'm in process of downloading a few ROM's...gBiggie where you from in the D? I'd love a Detroit Tigers or Detroit Lions Theme if you know of one.

downloaded zcv roms gse-c_v1.0_signed.zip and ld-lg ick mod zvc 1.7.zip. from cwm went to install zip from sdcard to choose zip from sdcard to Rom's...Rom's flash then I choose reboot system now and after reboot I'm back at cwm??? I'm starting to feel dumb what am i doing wrong?

In recovery..wipe cache/factory reset-wipe cache-go to advanced & wipe dalvik-install zip from sd...pick one of the roms..let it load..reboot system
Reading as youbwere flashing both the roms you downloaded:confused:
Just need one

Still no luck... it just does not want to leave CWM. I feel like an idiot right now especially since I'm usually good with these type of things. Any other suggestions... I already know MetroPCS is not gonna warranty this device since it boots in CWM.

I have download all the ROM's to my SD card but was only using one...I downloaded all the ZVC ROM's in case one or the other would not work...each time I try the ROM will do it's thing in CWM but once i go to reboot the phone goes to LG screen then back to CWM. I found a guy out here in Troy, MI who works out a cell phone store/repair center...he works on all kinds of phones not just Android who says he can get me back to stock for $35... I'm gonna give him a chance but I don't know what he is gonna do that I have not alredy tried.

FYI for anyone reading MetroPCS is gonna put out the ZVD update approx. Wed. March 14th...be ready for new challenges with the Esteem!!!

He is probably just going to downgrade it(shame on him for charging you $) I never have & never will!

The SPC # is obtained from the link to the market app within the guide.
Sounds as if your CPU has some issues too....my way to a lean and mean machine whether XP or WIN7:

I can get the ls855 to connect but then it says it can't find the directories or does not have the right permissions. Any ideas?
 
OK, I have a Sprint LG Marquee that I hoped I could use with my Boost account. I've done all the drivers and followed the steps. On Connectivity, I don't get the USB option, Default connection mode, Charge only, click on the arrow Mass storage only other option. Ask on plug only other bar. When I run the "run" app in the LG Esteem Root v2 folder this is what I get at the command prompt:
* daemon started successfully
[*] Device found.
rm failed for /data/bootlogo/bootlogopid, No such file or directory
link failed No such file or directory
[*] Rebooting...
[*] Waiting for reboot...
cannot create /data/local.prop permission denied
[*] Rebooting again...
[*] Waiting for reboot...
[*] Installing root tools...
remount failed: Operation not permitted
failed to copy 'su' to '/system/bin/su' : Permission denied
Unable to chmod /system/bin/su: No such file or directory
link failed Permission denied
Failed to copy 'superuser.apk' to ... etc

Any ideas?

I get several "sending 149 zerglings.... Trying a new path..."
and finally "Zerglings did not leave interesting stuff"
Then I get lots of "'data/local/temp/sh: permission denied"
with some "Failed to copy" in the middle and finally
Finished Rooting!! but it's not rooted.
