Right now you can only get the Devour at Best Buy. It's out just not through Verizon Channels BUT you bring up a good point.

Let's say a device is being released with the Devour on the 15th. The best way to not have the Devour launch overshadowed is to pre-release it through Best Buy giving it a few weeks of sales before releasing the Incredible or N1 on the 15th WITH the Devour through Verizon and not pissing off Motorola by crapping on the Devour persay and still releasing a 2.1 High End device (N1 or Incredible or both) and making us (me) very happy.

Walmart has it too. I was referring to Devour already on sale Walmart.

well if the devour is to be released on the 15th and with the picture of the st. patricks day android, maybe we will get something on the 14th. just throwin that out there.

p.s. this kappy dude cracks me up

The Devour has been announced but not officially released for sale. Correct me if I'm wrong but its not on the verizonwireless.com site and I thought the official release date is the 15th.

It's already on sale. I had it in my hand at Best Buy last Saturday.

The only thing that I have been told is that expect a high end phone and a low end phone to come out when the Devour is released. The only thing they left out was if the Devour was the high end or the low end.

It's available from BB. I think the 15th is the VZW in-store date.

A phone being released in 5 days without any official announcement yet? That seems a little unlikely...

So does not marketing or letting people know when they can get devices. Easiest way to get more subscribers without actually having the device available is to let them know how long they have to wait.

If Apple was to be on Verizon in 90 days then I bet if they said "Guaranteed release of iPhone on Verizon on xx-xx-xxxx" then the iPhone would not sell one device (okay maybe one) on AT&T in that time frame. It may take away from VZW sales of smart devices but unless people are looking for a smart device then feature and non feature phones would still sell. Just my opinion but then of course I just want to know dammit ;)

NKT I have a request for your spec list for when you get a hands on. Could you check to see if the camera has any zoom function (optical or digital)? Having zoom on a camera phone isn't a huge deal but it would be "Incredible" if it did ;) ( I couldn't resist the pun).

Fingers crossed Devour is the Lower end device.

From the price at walmart.com I would say the Devour is low end.

totally agree. There has to be some sort of time buffer before announcing, especially if the same phone is on multiple carriers. The service provider doesn't want to hurt its sales of its other available smartphones and doesn't want to anger a phone manufacturer by taking away its sales from other service providers.

With your Apple example. If it was coming to VZW, Apple wouldn't want sales to slow on ATT network before the VZW launch. They would want people to be blown away by the annoucment of a VZW iPhone and therefore release the product soon after annoucment, probably within 2-3 weeks.

With the droid, it was only gonna be on VZW, so they could annouce and hype it up with more time in between the annoucment and launch.

I know we have spoken about this, but with new information and possible specs. Has anyone changed their mind on how VZW will market this? Big marketing push or small?

I say probably not as big as the moto droid, but if this is the upcoming flagship phone, I would think the marketing will be something decent..

First post on this thread, been watching for a couple weeks now though. Greatness comes from here. ;) Hard to keep up though...

Another request for NKT. If possible, checkout that multi-touch app to see if the Incredible suffers the same issues as the N1 yet. Yes, I'm sure that it'll be fixed before release, now that it's known, but just curious.

Kap, man, I don't believe you'd say this. HOW COULD YOU?? The phone is the Incredible, for Pete's sake. It flies through the air, has super human strength, is super elastic, is super fast and has a force field around it. (Steven shakes his head).

But...Does it do the laundry? That's what I need most from my smartphone. With two kids and working full time, there's only so many times I can go up and down the stairs with a basket full of laundry.:p

If those specs are accurate, then I see something big. This is the closest thing to "iPhone Killer" (damn that phrase is lame) that you can get. I could see teasers though, "Something Incredible is coming to Verizon on 3/23/10" etc. blah, blah. with no info. Teasers of sorts and then a full blown announcement at CTIA.

It could be that HTC are the ones who want to remain tight lipped about there product releases whereas Motorola doesn't mind letting the cat out of the bag a little earlier.

Verizon in general is more tight lipped then the president when asking about aliens in hangar 13. The Droid, their flagship device, was only announced a week before it went on sale.
