Root Simple way to erase EXT partitions on SD card?

I'm looking to start over completely fresh with my SD card, and I would like to erase my EXT partitions and have it added back to the partition that can be read by Windows 7. Also, is there an ideal method for formatting the SD card to attain maximum speed as rated by the manufacturer for a class 10 card?

I'm assuming I may need to enter ADB to do this? I'm just wondering how.

Thanks!

Nope just go into settings on your phone. Then to storage and then unmount your SD then you will be able to format your SD card.

That option isn't there.... I'm running CTMod 3.4 if that is relevant at all?

Greyed out I have: Total Space, Available Space, and Erase SD Card
Selectable I have: Unmount SD Card

Thanks to Kouma, I've found that his method (ADB) is the way to go, IMHO.

1) Boot into CWM recovery
2) launch ADB shell
3) run sdparted from the command line with the interactive option ("sdparted -i" no quotes)
4) select Y for all yes/no questions.
5) enter 0 for SWAP size
6) enter 0 for EXT size
7) press enter to accept default for both ext type (will end up ignored for a 0 size) and the remaining SDcard VFAT partition size (will default to the entire card size)
8) REF: step 4 (Select Y for all Y/n questions)
9) verify final report shows that the entire SDcard is partitioned as vfat or fat32.

hope this work for you.

Thanks! This sounds more like the ticket I was looking for.

I will note, that unmounting the SD card did give the option to erase the card, but I think that due to the storage option I use, it might not have worked as I hoped. Either way, I'll give it all a go later on today, and report back which methods seemed to work best. Thanks to all for the suggestions.

Yes there is a way to do it through windows7. put your microSD card in an SD adapter and insert it into your card reader, then use diskpart to erase and create partitions. NOTE: This is an advanced command line interface tool. If you are not familiar with using it then don't! If you are then it is not too bad to go through the needed steps to wipe and create partitions on it.:D

Left out the unmount part, mybad.

In my defense though, it was 4am and I was only up to get some Capt'n Crunch.. :D

Wow I haven't had Crispix in ages. Seems like a flash back now that you mention it.

I was always a big fan of Count Chocula. However, 90% of people don't even know that the cereal exists and that's it's from the late 70's.
