so was there any new news today? about a release date for either the N1 or the incredible? thank you
Please don't expect anyone to spoon feed you info. Do the research within this thread yourself. It really isn't too hard to look back a few pages if you are genuinely interested in the phone.

Me: With the Eris going EOL, are you getting the Incredible on April 1st?

Him: No one is talking.

Me: Is this normal prior to a new release?

Him: Nope. They're going out of their way to keep this one under wraps until the last minute - much more so than the Droid release. It's puzzling, to say the least.
Great news Montana. I'm starting to think now, it might actually live up to its Incredible name

I would suggest that as we get closer to the 23rd that we start a separate thread that just deals with "release date". No real discussion...just post your info...be it rumor or whatever....all things that deal with "when". it might help those who don't want to keep up with the 10,000 posts this will become over the next few weeks.

just a thought.....

This thread has already taken on a life of its own, for better or for worse. Most of the regs like the way it flows. It allows feedback on topics related and pertaining to the Incredible, all under one thread - without having to jump from thread to thread to get caught up. If the thought of creating the "release date" thread appeals to you, then go for it! :)

This may be a repost, i just read it on Macrumors. and yes i know apple is suing HTC...i just found this part about the HTC going back to the drawing board interesting.

Fortune reports on a new research note from Oppenhiemer & Co.'s Yair Reiner claiming that Apple in January began high-level talks with major phone manufacturers expressing its displeasure with what it considers to be infringement of its iPhone-related intellectual property. According to the report, Apple's recent lawsuit against HTC has served to back up the company's position in these talks and has sent competitors scrambling to deal with the threat. Reiner writes:Starting in January, Apple launched a series of C-Level discussions with tier-1 handset makers to underscore its growing displeasure at seeing its iPhone-related IP [intellectual property] infringed. The lawsuit filed against HTC thus appears to be Apple's way of putting a public, lawyered-up exclamation point on a series of blunt conversations that have been occurring behind closed doors.

Our checks also suggest that these warning shots are meaningfully disrupting the development roadmaps for would-be iPhone killers. Rival software and hardware teams are going back to the drawing board to look for work-arounds. Lawyers are redoubling efforts to gauge potential defensive and offensive responses. And strategy teams are working to chart OS strategies that are better hedged.
Fortune's report offers more detail on Reiner's description of how events have unfolded, building from Apple's January 2009 promise to aggressively defend its iPhone intellectual property to the company's decision to press its position as other multi-touch handsets have begun to come to market.

Reiner also notes that much of the conflict has occurred with companies utilizing Google's Android operating system, which is seen as Apple's true target. In response, Microsoft has reportedly begun seizing the opportunity by pushing forward with promotion of its Windows Phone operating system and patent portfolio, indicating that it is willing to stand closely with its partner handset manufacturers in any intellectual property dispute.

I'm staying here. I like to keep things simple. :)

Yessir, it has been posted. Conclusion: Apple is the bully on the school yard. Android is the new kid on the block that will change that.

I know that because I am sooo imaptient, that if the N1 is released on the 23rd I will buy that instead of waiting for the Incredible, even though I know the Incredible will be a better phone.... damn my incessent need for new tech!

As a regular(i think i count as one?), I wholeheartedly agree. I prefer this format versus having to go through several threads.

I called verizon earlier today and kept asking them if the know anything and as soon as I asked them they directed my question into something completely different damn :( worth a try right?

We've established that they're reps know little, to nothing, about this phone (whether its e-mail, phone call, or in-store). If youre going to try to squeeze any info out, it needs to be someone high in the VZW ranks, otherwise its pointless.

very true. i mean look at the devour. we found out every spec, release date, how/where it will be sold, way in advance. if everybody is trying so hard to protect info on the incredible, you know it has to be something that will blow people away.

I don't want to quote Norril's long post but I agree with him. To add on: If pico projectors became standard, you could use a keyboard and mouse and project a computer screen on a foldable 15-17 inch board. Easy, pocket-sized, laptop replacement.

Good call! has anyone used one of those projectors in phone or camera? how fast do they run the battery down, how clear/bright/resolution? (ignore the horrible grammer). Do they get hot? I could see them accidentally burning a hole in the pocket, like a bad battery, lol.

I just started listing a bunch of ultimate features I would love to see, then realized some were way too cool to just give away on a message board. (Norril heads to pattent office...)

We should all throw a party once we get to page 100.

God, I haven't posted anything constructive or useful for my last 5 or so posts. :(

That, or they are truly going to try and introduce it as the famed and often rumored "iPhone Killer"!!!!! We haven't heard that phrase in a while.

Maybe that's why Apple is trying to sue them? IDK, just a theory.

Not much of a stretch, is it? ...lol

So I just spoke to a manager at a verizon store. When I asked about new android phones he said there are 3 new LG androids coming out this year. He knew htc was doing something, but didn't know what and seemed to not be sure they were switching from qualcomm to snapdragon. He THOUGHT there would be at least some in store help/availability of the N1. He didn't know about the Eris being EOL and said the only reason the BOGO for the droids was still running was because Blackberry won't stop theirs. The most interesting news(for me at least) was about LTE. He said they have been testing in Boston and Seattle and are reaching speeds up to 40mb/s! He also mentioned that internet service providers are now fighting the upgrade because it's so fast.

Edit: 40mb/s not gigs

Stevie Jobs already got his lunch handed to him once by Bill Gates and Co. when he sued MS over the Windows O.S. back in the early 90's and after getting his lip bloodied knows better not to **** with the 300 lb. Gorilla.
