Eris to v2.x, when?

It's not hard, but there are a few bugs in this version; It seems to be a tester version; it does work, but I would really read first, just so you can make up your own mind if you want to download and boot or just wait..I did mine last Wed. and in some respect I wish I had waited, but in others I am glad I did...Look at OfTheDamned or Caddymans stuff; but basically here is the site:

Just download the zip file; don't try to unzip it; open your phone to disk storage; drag the file to your phone, power off and on by holding the end key and either down volume or scroll button; follow the directions on the web site...your phone will do the rest...What I did find out that has made my phone much more bug free; do NOT overload your phone with a bunch on needless apps...so far the bug I had has not been so bad since I reformatted by sd...so save your junk from your sd, reformat from windows, then place your PB00ING.zip on it, power off etc....thats the only advice I have given on this site....I am not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night;;;No I didn't.

Settings > Sound & Display > Quiet Ring on pickup

Menu > settings > sound & display > quiet ring on pickup

Edit: damnit, OTD is so fast!

It's a setting that was discussed earlier in this thread. Under Sound and Display settings -- Quiet Ring on Pickup. Just disable that.

GO to Menu>settings>sounds & display then uncheck the "Quiet ring on pickup".

~Edit~ Damn, you guys are fast. I just read the page, went to reply and there were a bunch before me.

I went back to Caddy's posts from November about tips/tricks, bugs etc. I finally reformatted the sd, reloaded the PB00IMG.zip, put it back on my phone, then started to put things on it slowly, used the phone for a while to see if it had problems, then used it more. I am thinking the bug may not be so much 2.1 as it may be 2.1 + buggy apps that aren't quite tweeked enough in Market; some of the apps we used flawlessly from 1.5 may have some affect on lag, etc when trying to operate with 2.1....Not sure, but so far no trouble since I did the above changes;;Anyone else have some suggestions?
 
In case nobody's interested; The silent ring..no one there thing happened again, this time without any apps on other than those that came with the download-PB00IMG.zip file, so I am confident the problem is with the test version and not necessarily with the apps we are putting on. I received a missed call, I swiped my finger on the bar downward, pushed the person's number from that icon and tried to call; nothing....They tried to call back...nothing..silent. I powered off and back on and everything was OK. Just wanted to report this to whomever cares..(nobody) Boofrackinhooooo........8-)

Join the community, then jump to this thread and ask the same damn questions over and over again. There is a search here too. It angers me so.

Also, I think it is time to change the thread name.
 
I was thinking the same thing a few pages back. It should be the so you finally got 2.1. and first post should be a link and clear directions so we dont get the question anymore. Of course I could be taken the time right now to do that myself but ehh..
 
downloaded earlier and played with it ever since. It was mostly on the charger tho, but Its a heck of alot snappier and almost no lag. I was downloading 2 apps at a time with no lag and when making all my commands the phone keeps right up. Service as been great and I live on the ocean where it seems to always be low. Smoother interface and more intuitive then ever. I looove the unofficial leak|!
 
Okay, this thread is 70 pages long, I'm just looking for an anticipated date of official OTA release. Anyone know?
 
I am happy that I took the plunge and updated to the Leaked 2.1. The Only Issue I have had is that every time I restart my phone I have to enter my passwords for my gmail accounts. This is just a small aggravation that I am sure will be sorted out when the official release is made OTA. As for the operation of the phone everything seems to be a little faster then 1.5. The lag is gone when placing calls and ending calls and the lag is gone when you use Google voice search. Google Nav is awesome as well. I am still testing the battery life on my phone so I will post my results once the battery dies.

All in all I am very happy that I installed the leaked 2.1 update.

Thank You to everyone that have helped get this leak out and installed on so many phones.

A radio update does not assure a full OS update. The update back in Jan or Dec was a radio update only, going from "605" to "705" or similar, as I recall.

Nonetheless, I don't believe for one second that VZW will release the version of 2.1 that we're currently running to the masses, so the OTA or download version will be newer and hopefully will compare installed version numbers with it's version numbers and if older (on the phone), it will be pushed.

IIRC, it had a revved build number, though.
 
I couldn't find this in any previous posts...Where is the "Combined Inbox" that is supposed to come with 2.1? Did HTC cut this out?
