Okay, I did get both the phone and screen protector in today and I applied it.

I admit that I like it a lot because it's hard and it feels like the glass on the phone. Since I anticipated using the stylus a lot, I imagined that a hard screen would be nice. You really don't notice it there and I don't feel like I'm writing on a screen protector. It's made of glass. I visited an AT&T store today to look at a display model and one of them had some awful scratching on it (like it was intentional actually) so this made me feel better about have the screen protected.

Now, putting it on is very easy since it's hard and it just goes on. HOWEVER, I had a hell of a time trying to make sure there was no dust caught between the protector and the phone. Alas, I wasn't 100% successful. There are a few specks of dust unfortunately that aren't noticeable in use but I am willing to deal with it. The instructions say that if you remove it, they don't recommend reusing it - but hell, at $35, I wasn't going to throw it out. I did take it off once immediately after applying to get one obvious speck out, but since the protector is sticky itself, it was just hard to get to a dust-free environment for me I guess. I have like 2 or 3 specks of dust that are ok with me. Now that it's on, I feel very comfortable writing on the glass.

So, I'm happy with it. A bit pricey, but I do like the feel. Sensitivity is unchanged - it's very thin.

I just need a real case now. :)

2 schools of thought on this one probably but why get a screen protector? The glass is very resistant. Gorilla-like, no?

Yeah, it's SUPPOSED to be Gorilla Glass, and I have had GG on other phones. I already have a scratch in mine (which you can ONLY notice in the sun at an angle and have to LOOK for it). My other phone that definitely HAD GG on it, would not scratch.

Since Corning confirmed this has GG, it's a bad batch or something because mine is not as nice as my other phones. :(

I have this impression that GG is more resistant to breaking than resistant to scratching. I know that sounds weird, but the Note I saw at the ATT store - it looked like someone took their key and kept rubbing it on the surface as if to see how scratch resistant it was.. it was scratched up badly. It's probably not a real world situation but apparently GG does scratch and with a screen that I will be using something to rub up against, I just felt better with something on top. I'm probably overdoing it, but I guess it gave me some piece of mind.

Even if resistant, it's not fool-proof scratch resistant. There are users reporting scratching the screen over use. There are several factors that can contribute to it. Say, stylus + glass = scratch over a period of time (especially over heavy usage). Also S-Pen is not a capacitive pen, it is a stylus requiring a bit of pressure and resistive screen input (like PDAs of old).

Regardless, I can honestly say that it's probably tougher to scratch, but it will be scratched nonetheless over time and use. Especially factoring in use of the S-Pen.

As others have said, it's better to scratch a screen protector than the actual product. At least you can get another protector and still have a beautiful screen under it with no signs of blemishes/scratches. ;)

Ouch, thanks for that tidbit. I guess I'll still stick to the cheaper, good old removable/washable protectors. They served me well in the past and guess they will continue to serve me in the future.

I tend to put my devices on a lint free (non-shedding) paper towel (like the ones from my workplace to dry hands) prior to installing a protector. Wipe down the screen several times using a lint free cloth (like the ones to clean eye glasses) and ensuring no dust is on it. Now remove a little of the protective film to expose a little bit of the adhesive (do not fully remove it). It'll minimize the chance of catching a stray strand of dust or pet dander. Also don't move around too much to disturb the air around you. Apply it on the device, slowly peeling away the protective film as you are applying it with constant pressure. This minimizes the chance of an air bubble and dust catching on the adhesive of the proctector. Also have a bit of scotch tape around to carefully remove any dust that sticks on the adhesive or screen. Becareful though as some protectors don't recommend this technique due to the adhesive they use. Using this method, I am 100% dust free with no air bubbles.

But then, I've been applying screen protectors for a long while. From my Clies, x51v, camcorder, GBA, etc. I've gotten used to carefully applying them and getting the best results possible. :p

This is an official battery charger from Samsung and it comes with an OEM Samsung 2500 mah battery. I absolutely love it! I no longer charge my phone - I just charge the batteries. When one battery dies I simply put in the charged one and put the depleted battery in the charger. At $29.99 you can't beat it! Like I said, it frees you from having to leave your phone on the charger. The performance of the battery that came with the charger is identical to the battery that came with the phone. Best money spent so far on the note!

Definitely the best purchase that I made for the Note.

I got the Seidio case with holster a few weeks ago and so far like it a lot. I was waiting for the Otterbox case but wanted something sooner since Otterbox is not out quite yet but soon.

I have the s-pen pen holder and I love it. It makes it so easier to use the S-pen

How does it make it easier and where did you get it from??

I didn't get a screen protector because of the resistance with the s pen.. Is that a great idea?

It'll be very dependent on what your preferences are. Some argue it's a waste of money due to it having Gorilla Glass (a little more scratch-resistant than previous screens of old). I, personally, prefer having a screen protector on it only because of my old habits.

I come from old stand-alone PDAs (PalmOS and Windows Mobile) and have scratched up 2 Sony Clie screens when not using any screen protector. It is because of this I now use one everytime I get a new device. Not only does it protect the screen from scratches, but also protects it from inaccurate screen presses, swipes, etc from the damaged screen scratching may cause. When damaged enough and input becomes inaccurate, I just get a new screen protector and go back to my normal abuse on the screen.

Now, the problem I have with the GNote is the stylus. I am a person who still has a combo pen/stylus (pen - as in 'ink' ;) ). Well, I've inked many a screen back then and often find myself cursing because of a simple 'oops, I thought I had the stylus out; not the pen'. I believe the stylus can and will scratch the screen over time of heavy use (but maybe not, who knows-not willing to risk it). I also use it when eating some semi-wet/wet food and have been known to splash little droplets on the screen too. At least I have a screen protector on it that can easily be replaced so I don't have to worry as much... LOL.

This is my own experience, and as an imperfect human, I want to ensure my stupidity isn't transferred onto such a beautiful screen. :p

i love the zagg screen protector, takes down glare and fingerprints... can't comment on the stylus use - i don't use it - yet... the boxwave case with stand seem nice and i got the spare battery travel pack...

How is screen quality compared to the original screen? I know anti-glare proctectors as well as privacy ones always compromise screen quality. Which is why I always go with ultra-clear screen protectors.

Just curious.

TIA.

Samsung ET-S110EBEGSTA Galaxy Note Stylus Pen Holder Kit

Basically it makes it more of a full sized pen with comfort grip allowing for easier writing (like pen on paper).

I took off the Zagg protector, as the stylus leaves lines in the protector (that lasts for days), and makes the stylus less-responsive.

I have a Moshi protector on there now. Very easy to apply, but it makes the screen look very grainy. Stylus works better on the Moshi than the Zagg, but still not as good as naked screen.

I have the glass one coming that I got on eBay. Will have to see if this one makes me happy.

The Spigen SGP? That's too expensive for my tastes... :p

I'm using a Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal Screen Protector. It's great. I still get the beautiful screen (without compromise) and once applied properly, won't even notice it's there. Input is similar to a naked screen (haven't noticed anything different). Unfortunately, it's a finger smudging magnet and need to clean it on a regular basis. ;)

Also found it dirt cheap ($2.50 and does its job). Just have to see how truly durable it really is.

My Brando's lasted me over 5 years (never once removed), but scratched to heck (via pen marks, etc). Still input is extremely good. Scratches haven't degraded input which surprised me. Yep. That's the abuse I put these screens through.
