Root root to remove bloatware ???

A friend is having issues with internal memory full and I suggest rooting to remove bloatware apps then we can unroot if he wants. Any thoughts, or should I convince him to stay rooted. He is worried about getting repaires if needed.

No need to unroot afterward.

If there's a need for repairs, there are methods to unroot. No worries.

Also be careful what you delete. I suggest you have your friend invest in titanium backup pro. It's a little pricy, but wirth every cent, and then some!! With TB Pro you can freeze the app without deleting it, to see if it's tied to functions in the phone. If nothing gets borked, it's ok to delete. If you start having unstability issues, just unfreeze and move on to the next app.

What about backing up his data for apps and restoring after rooting. Data only backup.

If he has H-boot 2.18(newest OTA) rooting will wipe all data. Just another reason to never accept OTA's. There isn't a non-root app that I'm aware of that saves app data

yes data backup only and backup everything from the sdcard over to the computer. Do Not Do a Nandroid and try to Restore. Titanum backup and user data only no system data.

You may also want to Get something like SMS Backup to backup SMS if he needs to (doesn't do mms if memory servers me correctly but i never get those anyways) Also do a fresh sync over to google for calendar and contacts may even want to put a copy of the contacts on the sdcard Use your dialer program for that.
