Would you buy one again (Verizon version)?

Sold the gnex 3 weeks ago and haven't missed it one bit.

I have my microsim in the Verizon iPad and loving getting LTE signals everywhere I go in orlando area. Before my gnex would lose LTE signal in my orlando suburb. But Verizon LTE iPad gets 2-3 bars of LTE. My gnex would never get LTE signal in home or office at work.

If you want to shut down this thread so it isn't a public nuisance Trophy, I have no problems with that. I greatly appreciate everyone's time and input to help out! I really enjoy this community for being helpful like this and not going all XDA on me! ;)

Oh no, no sense it shutting it down bud. It's not a nuisance. this is what these forums are about. Getting the info out there. It may be of use to other people wondering the same thing. We'll just leave her be.

glad you got the info you needed.

This is actually sort of amusing. Why would someone get far worse reception in densely populated urban areas, but when I'm in rural areas, I have no issues at all. 2G, 3G, 4G signal levels all reasonable. Haven't been in a situation where data or voice were unusable/unreliable. Isn't that sort of supposed to work backwards? :D

I guess it sort of works in an urban area. But then again, compared to some of you folks a 180,000 population city is probably nothing.

Yea would totally buy it again, the only thing I wish is that I had the option of getting the same hardware basically but made out of metal and smaller, like maybe slightly wider and longer then the Iphone, is all I ask. Which I think at the same time would make it harder to break.

No. I like what the phone was ment to be and I know I could flash or whatever but sadly Im not really into that. I would rather VZW got off their rears and just updated the dang phone. But seeing as how just like any other phone they take their sweet time while everyone else bypasses us I couldnt bring myself to do it.

There's not a chance in heck that I would buy the LTE Galaxy Nexus if I could do it over again. However, the GSM version that Google is selling themselves now? Absolutely, yes I would buy that phone.

Verizon and Samsung have screwed with the GN so badly I regret buying it. I'm still waiting on an update that will fix a bluetooth problem I'm having, and while I understand the delay it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it, and forgive me for not giving Verizon the benefit of the doubt. Given their attitude towards the phone I'm not expecting them to put a rush on it.

And then there's my biggest annoyance: the accessories. When the phone was announced by Samsung, I was glued to the live stream. I was thrilled to see that - like my Nexus One - the Galaxy Nexus would have the contact pins that would allow me to simply drop it into a desktop dock (nightstand dock for me), and charge it. Even better, a car dock! I was super excited. Fast forward four months, and because I'm on Verizon, I get a desktop dock with a MicroUSB plug on it, and a car "dock" that's actually just a $30 hunk of plastic that doesn't use the contact pins at all. The worst part is that I still have those contact pins sitting there on the side of my phone, taunting me, reminding me how nice it was to charge my Nexus One.

So no, the second my contract is up, I'm getting the hell away from Verizon.

Knowing what we know about it today (as compared to buying it on launch day with blind faith)? No, I would not buy it again. That's not to say there's things I don't like, or love, about the device. But when I can honestly say using this phone has been maddening at times, I'd be in idiot to buy it again. I'm one of the "phantom" signal issue complainers. Tim K, AppsRUs and Turdbogls (lol) said it well above. And since I don't know how to hack, I'm paying the price with a device that doesn't perform as well as others'.

I know you already got your answer, but trophynuts (lol) is right. This info could benefit someone else down the road.

To all the people writing about how they wouldn't buy their Nexus again due to bugs and lack of updates:

Yes, the phone has issues, but those issues are not as big of a deal as people make them out to be.

Wrong and misleading. I fail to see how you can say the issues I have had since launch day "is not as big a deal as people make them out to be". Are you suggesting that everyone who has posted the identical issues about reception/signal strength are making it up? The OP asked a question and we're giving feedback, that's the way it works. I don't need you telling people that the problems I am having with my device "is not a big deal".

And as far as turning 4G off...what's the point in having a 4G phone then? I live in a strong 4G area and I'm constantly getting hosed by the auto switching or lack thereof (indoors). It should work, I shouldn't have to force 3G. This is one of reasons I wouldn't buy this phone again.

But your point about the next great thing also potentially having problems is well taken. I'm starting learn that I need to keep my expectations low. Until consumers get a real voice and can put pressure on the manufacturers, they'll continue to keep selling us inferior (read "buggy") products. And I'll continue to buy them. Guess I'm an idiot after all...

But your point about the next great thing also potentially having problems is well taken.
It's true, but I simply did not have this experience when I bought my Nexus One. Relatively speaking, I was much happier with that phone.

I'm not even having the signal problems others in this thread are having. My issue is with the lack of support from Verizon and Samsung, which is something that didn't matter before when I was dealing with Google and HTC.

I would buy it again. Yes it's not perfect and the poor signal is frustrating, but it's so unique, especially on Verizon. We may never see another phone like it, for those of us who are stuck with Verizon, especially with the way the release went down. PLUS it has a lot of upside. Screen, Stock ICS and all the goodies that come with it, Wallet. And more I can't think of.

Absolutely would buy again. And after seeing what has come after ( nothing), I'm so glad I didn't try to "make it" to some next phone.

Still the only phone with ICS.

I enjoy the smoothness of ICS. But there are too many other signal and data speed issues for me to recommend the phone to anyone else. I would not buy another. IMO, Rezound is the best phone on Verizon at the moment. Yep, I have that one too.

LOL I too have the Rezound, its a pile of crap next to the Nexus.

I would definitely buy it again. If I were buying now, I would consider the Rezound since it now has S-OFF, but I think I would still make the decision to get the Galaxy Nexus because of stock android out of the box without having to flash any custom ROMs even though I always end up crack flashing anyway.

I did have a slightly better data experience with the Rezound in that it could keep 4G connection at my work, albeit slow, it was there. It also seemed not to drink battery as quickly in weak signal areas, but I really didn't get to test this sufficiently to say for sure.

I haven't had any "signal" issues or data speed issues. Aside from that phone keeping the 4G at work (where signal is bad and other 4G phones that I've had access to also fall back to 3G), my Nexus behaves just the same as all of the other phones I've been able to compare it against, including the Charge, Thunderbolt, Rezound, and Razr.

The benefits of updates from Google, vanilla Android, and just the feel of the device in my hand are what prompted me to buy the Nexus and now, 4.5 months later, those points still hold true and I believe I would still make the decision to buy it again, but the Rezound would certainly get more than a few moments thought, as it was a nice phone with above average radio performance and more ROM friendly than it was when it came out.

Absolutely. Best phone I've ever owned.

Naturally, I haven't had to deal with some of the more annoying issues I see posted here (random reboots, weak signal, etc). Battery life is poor, but it's only an issue for me when I use my phone as a laptop (HEAVY use), but I only do that sitting at my desk at work where I have a charger. When I'm out, and about and just using it as a smartphone, I get by. Also had the 3G/4G handoff issue, but mine wasn't consistent (a couple times a week)..and even then it was very, very annoying (annoying enough that it would change my answer to this thread)...but now, for some reason, I don't have this issue anymore.

Nowadays, my biggest issue is no ICS compatibility for HBOGO

LOL I too have the Rezound, its a pile of crap next to the Nexus.

Ok, I understand the preference for the Nexus, but how is the Rezound "a pile of crap" in your opinion?

Signal is excellent
Data wise it's very fast
display is gorgeous
camera is decent
Sense - yes, people either love or hate it..I admit I love it.

Absolutely would buy it again. In fact my hubby is up for an upgrade and I will try to get him one as well.

The only minor issues for are the weak external speaker (or more so that I cannot separate notification and ringer volume!).
The volume/sound with headphones is just fine.
I do notice the banding of the screen on low brightness, but other than that I love the screen and it's a joy to watch videos on it.

Also love the design of the GN. It just feels right in your hand despite its size unlike the Razr.
That phone was just too wide and thin for me and was awkward to hold.

My GN does everything I ask it to. No signal problems.
Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS all work flawlessly and the stock battery lasts me through the whole day.
The camera also takes nice pics for me (if I focus correctly and stay fairly steady).

Mind you this is all on stock.
I have not rooted it yet. I did all that with my previous phone, but it took up a lot of time/tinkering, so I wanted a little break.
What more could I ask? :)

Sure there will be phones out with beefier hardware, but I am loving ICS and vanilla Android, can't stand the bloat.

LOL I too have the Rezound, its a pile of crap next to the Nexus.

I wish I had a Rezound, it's waaaaaaaaaaay better than the Galaxy Nexus. Simultaneous 3G and voice, better reception, non pentile display/higher pixels per inch, better rear camera(it's actually the best camera on any Android phone in the world assuming the One X hasn't eclipsed it), better front camera, and it is getting ICS.

we do not get updates from google, google passes them to verizon, who then sits on them, just to make sure their apps work, is it worth it? i really dont think so, im to the point to where the locked bootloader is much better than this.

the phone is great, but the common samsung issues are just that, common samsung issues that never get fixed... how is the iPhone(basically a samsung made phone) so superior? makes no sense. but moto still makes the most stable of all phones.... and they are supposed to get ICS soon? maybe, i wonder how long we will wait til the nexus is upgraded?
