Trapped in LG esteem downgrading hell!!!
HI. I am a big fan of this site and the people on it who have been really helpful to me in the past.
I was wondering if I could get some of you to take a look at a problem I am having downgrading my LG Esteem to ZVB, so I can root it. It's been about 20 hours total time now with no luck.
My stats:
Dell Optiplex GX620, running windows XP SP3, and an admin account (the only one on this computer. the other account is a disabled guest account) 3GB RAM, firefox browser.
problems. The program LGNPST eventually installed, however I have four problems.
All packages download and install perfectly as per Gbiggie's instructions from this link: http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/479734-guide-downgrade-ms910zvc-ms910zvb.html
Problems.
1: the VS910.dll simply will not register, and I get the following error code:
screenshot dll register error with number | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Whe I try to use the command lone window and regedit32 to register the dll, I get another error message:
"LoadLibrary("VS910.dll") failed- The specified module could not be found"
2: when I try to run the LGNPST program at first is says "failed to load skin.dll"
looking for a workaround, I dragged the skin.dll over the program and then it started up, and has started up ever since, but with a couple more problems. (I have repeated the deleting, cleaning cache and temp files, re-downloading, and re-installing the files for this app 4 times now)
Those problems are the following.
A: dll select window is 'dead" or unresponsive, not allowing me to select a dll file.
unresponsive dll select window | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
B: the yellow folder icon by which you choose the "bin" file that is supposed to modify the phones version, ONLY sees bin files when you open it up, and therefore cannot see the "MS910ZVB_01.SB_01.P3018.R1003 - Copy.tot" file.
C If I run the app anyway, The % window status doesn't change although the elapsed time does, and I am never prompted for a PRC 6-digit number or any other phone information.

I believe this has something to do with not being able to register the dlls.
Any light you could shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
