Root Batt stat wipe?

EKG

Android Enthusiast
I never knew about wiping the battery stats when I first flashed the ROM on to my phone...this was quite a few weeks ago when I did it. Is it ok to wipe the batt stat now? Or should I wait until I flash a new ROM?

Usually you clear the stats when you install a rom but you can do it now. Just do the following:

charge battery to full, wipe stats and unplug.
Let battery go to about 10% and then charge to full again (keeping phone off if you can).

After that, go about as normal..

i wipe every time i flash a new kernel also.

Me too, I wipe after every flash actually, Rom, Kernel, Mod(Extra). Pretty much anytime after being in CWR I wipe, unless I'm doing all 3 at once or multiple extra's at 1 time, then I'll wipe when finished with everything.

I am not rooted. How do I clear battery stats unrooted? Reason why, my batteries will not charge past 89%. I have both standard and extended Bolt and Rezound batteries as well as seidio 1600mah and an 3500mah battery. Can you please instruct me on how to achieve this , so I will not have to do the master reset? Thank you, or whomever can help? I think I remember you from either the Moto XT or 3G slide..Thanks in advance to whomever..Btw I have non rooted Thunderbolt.

You wont be able to gain write access to the battery stats file without root. However, wiping the battery stats file does not have any effect on battery life or how your phone reports battery usage.

Its just a logging file and doesn't actually control anything. There's an interview with a Google programmer who mentions clearing stats doesn't actually do anything.

As for your issue, there's really not much you can do besides a hard reset, which may or may not do anything. If you're getting better battery life with the Rezound battery and extended battery, I'd just learn to deal with it.
