Sorry about that. I think Google would be smart to sell the N1 both with and without Sense. I could see the sales picking up a bit in that case.

Hi NKT, welcome back to the party. Your answer begs the question: Did you see the N1 with VZW CDMA? The reason I ask is because we all know that the GSM T-Mobile model does not have Sense UI. The entire world knows this. So, I am wondering which model you are commenting on. Thanks!:D

Here is what I see. Right now Google does not care about selling devices. Google does not care about getting the updates to other manufacturer's devices (only their own). Google does not care what mask/UI is put over Android OS as long as they have their own device (N1, N2, N3....). And Google does not care what their customers (ie. me and everyone else complaining about the buying process, plans allotted for N1 etc).

Now if Google is going to change the way Android is put out (with or without manufacturer UI) that will be because they have agreements with manufacturers allowing them to use their own UI in order to have Android on their devices and once Android has enough power/market share then Google will make the change.

Now that I have been typing all of this maybe the online sales of the N1 is a tester. They are using HTC, Motorola and others to get Android in the marketplace and then in a few years Google will be a device manufacturer themselves using only stock Android 3 or 4 or whatever iteration it is on their own devices and not using HTC or Moto or anyone else. They will be their own manufacturer/carrier of mobile products. No brick and mortar stores, no sales reps and much less overhead leading to cheaper plans and devices............

to end other speculation, the CDMA N1 is exactly the same form factor as GSM, yeah? some people were speculating that it might look a little different...

I've also had an inkling that this is a way to test out advertising products via only the internet. If the N1 sales were more successful, they could go to other companies and say, don't worry about advertising on TV. We put out the N1 with no TV ads, no B&M stores, and no retailers other than the internet. Just use Google's ad service and you can still sell your product successfully without the expensive airtime advertising that TV ads demand.

This of course has failed, but this might have just been another one of Google's beta projects.
 
^^ nice I agree with what was said earlier.. If VZW doesn't sell the N1 in store and doesn't really advertise it, most people aren't going to even know its out there and will snag up the Incredible.
 
How long does everyone think it will take for accessories to come out for the Incredible? Will stuff be available on launch day? Most stuff I could wait for, but I would like to buy screen protectors with the phone, a silicon case (possibly), and a holster..


Later on I'll want a spare wall charger to keep at work, a car charger, and possibly a docking station.

I like your take and think you very well could be right. Someone here posted earlier about the N2 being produced by Motorola. Are we to presume that will be a stock Android only phone same as the N1 and only made available through Google? Also, what is going to differentiate the G1 phone that Google is developing with help again from HTC from the Nexus or "N" series line?

Doesn't it already have the same form factor as other HTC devices? I would think on launch day they would just change the "This fits...." description.
 
Here's a question for someone in the know...with Verizon securing exclusivity with Skype, will that be available on the N1? That may be a selling factor for some - especially if the Incredible is not capable of placing calls overseas.

If the N1 does not come loaded with it you would simply go into app market, go under the Verizon heading and the Skype app should be there.

A good indication of this would be if the accessories for the Droid came out at launch. Does anyone know anything about that?

Also, as far as the chargers, does anyone know if using a microUSB charger (like the one that came with my LG Dare, or most of the Verizon phones over the past year or so) will work with a phone like the Incredible? Are microUSB chargers all the same, or do they have different power ratings for different devices? If they're all the same, that would save a lot of us some money on spare chargers and car chargers.

Thanks! I guess that's a good point, referring to things like chargers and whatnot. If they use the same type of connectors (mini USB?) Cases though would have to be different? The Incredible seems to be slightly different form factor-wise.

N1 screen protectors should work for this phone I'd think.

Wow, I didn't really need to ask anything :cool: lol
