Well the tester phone that NKT saw came with an 8 GB microSD card, and was specced in the documentation, so I'd assume something close to that will be in the production unit.

well if that's the case i probably won't really need to buy one.

saves me some $$$$$$

well if the class 6 16gb cards are at least 50$, then the 32gb cards are gonna be around $100 i'm guessing....i don't think it's worth it then

32gb class 4 SDHC cards will run you from $75 to $175 depending on maker.

32gb class 6 SDHC cards will run you from $30 to $200 depending on maker.
Ebay is your friend. :)

Actually, you need to look for micro SDHC. Be careful, I don't believe any 32GB microSDHC cards are on the market at the moment. The ones on ebay are counterfeits.

I did forget to put 'micro' in when looking:rolleyes:
but was under impression a few 32gb cards were already out.

I haven't seen them. Supposedly someone in this forum got some from his brother's company. A company which has beaten out Amazon, Newegg and Tigerdirect in getting the 32gb micro cards. I'll let you be the judge on that one.

Does anyone know if Sense UI blocks some features seen on stock Android devices? I thought I saw a comparison where they said something like that.

Edit: Also is the Sense UI music player different than the stock Android player?

it modifies parts of the stock UI. Yes the Sense UI player is different. Here is a video of it on a Nexus One (obviously one with a ROM installed).

Glad to see you can post now.

What I meant by features was certain apps. Like turn-by-turn navigation or something of that kind.
No. You lose no functionality of the Android OS when using Sense UI. It has the latest Android as well (2.1 update1), so you have turn by turn, new market, all the good stuff...

You only gain with Sense UI.

Actually I heard that Sense 1.6 had some problems interacting with Google Voice, but hopefully 2.1 will fix that.

Just note that there is a possibility that sense could affect some things, but generally it doesn't hurt the OS.

Yes. 1.6 (on the failed Tattoo). 1.5 Sense phones worked just fine. And it affects the OS in a positive way. It is much more optimized and the replacement apps are phonemail. The last thing we need to worry about is the awesome Sense UI.

Hello all, this is my first post. I apologize for the length but I'm a technical writer and I just can't help it. :)

I'm asking here because I've read the entire thread and you are the most welcoming, helpful, friendly group I've come across in a long time. NKT and Stericson, there just aren't words. Wow. Everything I had been trying to find on my own (even on Phandroid) was right here all the time. All of you are just fantastic.

I have read several threads looking for information but I've been unable to come to a decisive conclusion. If I missed something, please excuse the intrustion and point me in the right direction.

So, to the point. I have had an regular old orange EnV for over two years. Before I got it, I wanted the first iPhone bad but I did my research and decided the iPhone just didn't have what I wanted yet. So I've waited and waited. I was about to buy the Droid when it came out, I drooled and was about to pounce until I played with it in the store and totally h-a-t-e-d the keyboard. Ick. I love the keyboard on my EnV (I'm a writer, so the keyboard is very important to me) and the Droid keyboard is just beyond yuck. So I decided to wait again.

Then I played with the Eris and fell in love. But wait, they are doing a BOGO so I got suspicious figuring they were coming out with something better and dumping inventory. And I've been waiting.

Now I find this thread and I'm drooling again. But in all honestly, if I've never experienced anything close to a droid, do I really need to keep waiting for the Incredible? My phone is dying. I bought a new battery in September to keep it going and now the new battery can't even hold out for a day and I rarely make phone calls. I primarily text. The keyboard is starting to have issues.

I completely understand that the Incredible will be a far better phone than the Eris in terms of memory and a faster processing, also it's based on the 2.x platform instead of the 1.5. However, money is most definitely a concern right now and if a free phone will keep me happy for the next year, then I need to get the Eris and be patient again. But I do not want to use my NE2 credit for an Eris if I will be unhappy with the phone. Right now, my daughter's EnV3 is state of the art compared to my phone so I'm thinking the Eris is the way to go.

There is also the idea of finding an Eris on Craigslist to hold out for awhile until the Incredible is released and then use the NE2/2yr contract credits to bring the price as low as I can.

So, given this brain dump of information, is anyone able to give me some advice in this area? I almost went out and bought an Eris today, but I respect the opinions of the invididuals in this thread and I'm hoping you can help so I can join the Droid world.

Thanks so much in advance!

Wow, Vodafone looks like they chase the best phones pretty good, look at their line up for the coming soon, i wish Verizon was like that.... *sigh*

Vodafone UK Confirms HTC Desire, Legend, Nexus One & Xperia X10 - Mobile Phone News - TrustedReviews

Edit: Notice that all others say "coming soon..April" and the Nexus one says just "Coming soon".....I am hoping that the Incredible will come out at the same time as the Desire or Legend.... At least HTC should put something on their friggin website...

@OPPENDROID Can you make it until CITA which is March 23-25? Odds are they will announce the release date for the Incredible then. At that point you will know when you will be 30 days out from the Incredible release. You could then buy the Eris and use it until the Incredible release and then return it to get the Incredible. Kind of an abuse of the system but if that is what you need to do so be it. Also after using the Eris for 30 days you may find that it is all the phone you need and just decide to stay with it and save the money if it is tight.

If you have the money and can hold out though I would wait. The Eris is really starting to stretch on technology and I think in a year or less you will be really wishing you got the Incredible.

Am I the only one that gets phone upgrades every year?

Yes! I wish I was in your boat. Let me know how you pulled that voodoo magic. I have to wait for 18 months.

EDIT: To clarify my new every two is only every 18 months. Been able to upgrade since Nov. Waiting for this majestic beast.

Anyone can upgrade every year, you just won't get the NE2 credit. You do get the 2 year upgrade price though.

Welcome to the forums oppendroid,

I also have a EnV(1) and I've had it since 2005/6! I've been waiting and holding out for the right phone on Verizon to replace my Old EnV I was going to get the Droid but also didn't like the keyboard.

My roommate got the Droid about 2 months ago and it's a great phone and the keyboard while isn't that great I still didn't really like it so I've patiently or impatiently waiting for the Nexus One! But then rumors about the Incredible starting coming out so now I've been waiting for that.

Since you've waited this long and the Incredible looks to be coming out fairly soon since it's already in Verizon's Inventory system and we've seen more and more leaks of the phone lately I would just wait for it, but if you do decide to go to the Eris and you use your NE2 you can still return the phone within 30 days and go back to your old EnV for a few days so you won't get the restocking fee then go buy the Incredible that is if it comes out within the next 30 days and I'm pretty hopeful it will.

Sorry for the long post I guess your long post kind of put me into the typing mood :p

Apparently not everyone because I went shopping about 14 months in to mine and they were quoting full price for phones. Said I have to wait 4 more months to get discounted pricing. That was online. Never talked to store rep.

I for one don't want to hear about someone's personal issues. I could not care less what kind of plan/phone situation you are in.

Posts like this is what clogs up this forum.
Then just scroll on down through his post and ignore it as much as you can, not sure why you think his post clog the forums but yours complaining about other peoples post aren't doing the exact same thing.
