Root Who's used Koush's ROM?

Just installed 5.0.4.2 and I really like it a lot, but for some reason can't get the LED notifications to work, anyone else having this issue?

With the screen on or off? By default, in 2.1, notifications don't light the LED when the screen is turned on (it's redundant)

However, you can force it to do so by going into settings, sound and display, and checking it under the "trackball" settings.

I actually don't mind having Clockwork Recovery now. I don't really use it for anything other than installing themes, then I just flash SPRecovery back. ROM still works just fine :) I had to turn JIT off too. Benchmarks were great, but the system was absolutely not stable, even clocked just a bit above stock.

I am kinda mixed. At times this ROM is incredible, but at times I feel it is extremely laggy, and I haven't nailed it down as to what is causing it yet.

I have a full Nandroid backup of UD7 so I might make a full back up of this and then restore that and upgrade to 7.5 and see if I like that one better.

However, I *will* say that the MetaMorph theme I installed is pretty spectacular.

How many screens are you running? Are you using LWP? Lots of widgets?

This is where the Droid's 256MB of RAM become a limiting factor. When I had 7 screens full of widgets, and then a few apps running, it would take some seconds once I returned to the homescreen for the icons and widgets to repopulate.

Since then, I've turned the the number of screens back to 5 and am using a static wallpaper, and the behavior of Launcher2 is now the same as the regular ESE53 launcher. No more delays :D

Refresh my memory - Launcher is the Launcher2 and Launcher+ is an older launcher, right?

Meaning Launcher2 is the one that gets themed so we can drag icons to the bottom that show on all home screens?

Oh, lol, it's confusing when you put it that way. I don't really know what they're all properly named, but I was referring to the new launcher with the dockable buttons and 3D apps.

On Koush's ROM, though, the old launcher is 'Home' and the new one is 'Launcher', so even more confusion.

Regardless, it comes with 7 screens, and that's a little too much for the Droid, IMO. With 5 screens and static wallpapers, I haven't skipped a beat using it.

Hmm close to the same as Pete's but the 7 screens.. I will try 5..
no LWP. only difference is using widgets for Pandora and Music, instead of a short cuts. I will change it around and try it out

Well, after having the phone on today for 1/2 time as normal, (well off a charger) I decided I am going to Switch back to Pete's for now.. the Cell Standby (or something) is eating the battery.. I will try Pete's with the Helix Launcher to get some of the same functions I have now..

Ah well. I will keep an eye out for an update this week to see what might change with Koush's ROM

I must be one of the few with this cell standby problem that people are complaining about. My "cell standby" under battery usage is only at 8%. HOWEVER, my "tempmonitor" is at like 78% lol O_O

I've never really looked at this before using CM so I don't have anything to compare it to.

yeah mine was the highest with Koush's ROM.. I really like his ROM too but will wait to see how it works..

Since I can use DMupdater and Clockwork recovery to switch between SPrecovery and CMRecovery easily then it is not an issue

I am running Pete's 0.8 now along with Helix Launcher, I will see how well it works

i am still liking this rom but finding it a tad slow at times, maybe cause i did the update zip? not sure?

There might be some memory management issues. Whenever I feel the phone is getting a little slow, I just use ATK and kill some of my tasks (though I feel I'm doing this more often on this ROM than on Pete's BB).

Also, I find it strange that, for me at least, the contacts app takes really long to load up.

As for returning home, I used to have the issue where it would take like 5 seconds for all the icons to load back up and for the device to become responsive. I thought that lowering my screens to 5 helped, and it did a bit, but I once again got the issue.

This time, I've used 'Spare Parts' to keep the launcher in memory (very last option at the bottom). I used ATK to keep track of memory while playing around with it, and it seems to do a better job of managing memory with this option checked. Surprisingly, I have more memory free with it checked than unchecked, and now my returns to home are instant.

Strange indeed...

And radikal, did you update.zip over an existing ROM or do a clean install? If you did a clean install, then it should not be any different than installing it through Clockwork recovery.

I dont see that option in Spare Parts, I dont have any issues with lag though.

Did most of you use SPRecovery to install this ROM? I used the clockwork recovery (I actually like it better than SP, much easier to backup/restore) and the only issue I have experienced was what most have, the cell standby. My battery life still seems fine. I haven't had any lag issues, bugs with the launcher, nada. I don't know if it matters that I used the clockwork, but it might.

I used update and SPRecovery and the only real issue I had was Cell Standby but it was effecting my battery life as well.. Great ROM, outside of the Cell Standby Issue it is my favorite

currently with Pete's bugless, my highest battery hog is the display @ 68%

Here is the Bugless Screen hots for the battery (the Cell Standby at 8% is for almost 2 hours) that is a big difference from 5.0.4.2)

I agree with Fab on the cell standby issue. Every rom has a battery hog and that is Display, this ones display for me is at like 3% which is what cell standby usually is and Cell Standby seems to take up the same amount of battery as display on other roms so I feel they gotta be mixed up some how

but then how do you explain the 50% no signal part of the cell standby?

idk cause that doesnt come up for me

I saw it once, tonight just before I switched ROMS..

so I think is not swapped with display because if I leave it alone for an hour then wake the display, the Cell Standby was a high % of battery and display was low since it was just brought from sleep

I don't know either, I will wait to see if an update from koush comes out in the next few days

yeah i cleaned up data :) so thats good thats its good... i am doing 7 screens and LWP, guess i will kill LWP, the fun has worn off!
