Root Who's used Koush's ROM?

Fab, if you're still hanging around this post. I'm trying to figure out how you (and others) are managing 12+ MFlops and such low benchmarks in SetCPU. Without JIT , I was barely breaking 8 MFlops (clocked @ 1000) and getting between 225-350 in the short bench. Driving me nuts trying to figure this out.

+5 - same results here , Vincentp

I think that Fab may have initially been reporting on 5.0.4.1, and then later realized that with 5.0.4.2 the JIT had been disabled.

I tried the enabling of JIT on 5.0.4.2 and it went ballistic, first true boot loop I have ever encountered, IIRC.

Just switched to this.... and I must say, it is awesome!
Didn't even wipe data from UD v7 and everything worked perfectly. I am really happy with this ROM.

Yeah, my initial results were from 5.0.4.1, which had JIT mistakenly enabled.

Where'd you get your JIT files John? From this thread?

JIT for Koush's roms ONLY

I found that these files were much more stable than what was in 5.0.4.1 anyways, and I've been using them since on 5.0.4.2

I'm using 5.0.4.2 with the JIT Enabled (per above link). I haven't had an issue other than I can't run a stress test in SetCPU. No operational issues to speak of and I am getting the same kinds of numbers that you were getting on 5.0.4.1. Working pretty well so far (12+ hours...no freezes...no reboots).

Yeah, actually, and it did not seem to work at all, throwing me into a massive boot loop.

I created a batch file to run the commands, so I know I didn't mess it up. However, I am about to make a Nandroid backup real quick and try it again.

I may also change out my SetCPU settings to see if that is what may have, in fact, caused the issues I ran into.

I can also post my modified build.prop files and batch files here if you'd like the trouble of saving having to type all the commands manually. You'll need the Android SDK\tools directory in your system PATH variable in order to do it from any directory, or else you can extract the files to the \tools directory and it will work from there.

Let me know.

Off the wall question...How the hell do you pronounce Cyanogen? I searched google and couldn't find a pronunciation. Thanks!

OK, I installed JIT again, no boot loops, but stress test is definitely not working.

And the very first press I make on short test I get a low 160s result, but then after that I get results in the high 200s (207-209).

Doesn't seem like much of an improvement, but hey, it's not boot looping, so....

Similar results for me when I installed JIT. Never had the boot looping problem, though I did have to flash the ROM without the Nex theme since it made my system folder pregnant. Benchmarks are much better with it. Finally seeing those 12+ MFlops and sub 200 short benches on a regular basis. It's inconsistent, but hey, the phone feels faster, and that matters more than some cryptic numbers.

For my in real world use JIT is not making that much of a difference so for now I will do without it. As for the rom, I still see a lag when going to the app draw, but Fab, you were right, turning of orientation in Spare Parts seems to have helped (placebo effect?). I am enjoying delving into all the nooks and crannies of this interesting rom. Next to play with the built in USB internet tethering...

So be prepared to be WOWED....

My available internal memory before on SS was right around 170... NOW, it is CURRENTLY 225!!! WTF?!?! How is that possible?! I mean, I love it! But that is an insane increase...

Same here, I went from 69-72 percent free memory (varied based on apps I had installed). Now I am at 90 percent free memory! I read in the changelog that he cleared 20 mb of unneccessary applications, I gained a lot more than 20 though.

BTW if anybody uses the 24k theme, it is available as a metamorph for Koushs ROM now. Love the wallpaper thats included with it.

EDIT: I did reload all apps and data from Titanium and had already cleared all data (did a wipe/factory reset just the day before)

wifi tethering works well will this rom too. I am still using 5.0.4.1 since it is pretty stable for me. I havent had to reboot in about a day of using it and its still blazing fast. The except for osmetimes touching is unresponsive and I cant click on a telephone number and have it go to the phone app

I think the cell standby and display readings are somehow mixed up. Mine says display has only used 3% which is not possible yet cell standby is like 79% and 50% without signal but I haven't lost mt signal at all.

It's possible, but the battery life compared to 1.0.2, and any version prior actually, is significantly worse. 5.0.4.2 is not as bad, but I'm testing out the potential fix of setting the roaming to home, so we'll see what the next release fixes, especially with the new kernels bekit is pushing out.

For those of you who would like the NexTHEME, but do not want to install Clockwork Recovery (like me), you can get the Metamorph file here:

[MORPH] NexTHEME 1.9r4 Enom 1.7.1/CM 5.0.4.1 - xda-developers

Credits to Jr33 at xda.

I've installed it and had no problems. Will post some screenshots in a bit.

Hmmm - Fab, the colors used in things like widgets - those need to be changed on individual .PNGs using a photo editor, right?

I might have to get this one anyway, although it is not using the colors I would prefer, the stunning icons almost make up for it....

Also, what is the camera icon to the left?

I don't know the least bit about photo editing or theming, but I think you're right.

The Facebook widget was themed, and in that folder of the theme, there is a res folder, and two more folders filled with .PNG files of the various components of the app modified to fit the theme.

The camera is drocap2, for screenshots.

Yeah, saw the same thing in a few other how-to's regarding things like changing the Battery icon.

I am no good with photo editing, but I think I have a good idea for the perfect them - finally!

The all clear theme that Fadelight posted in http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/52935-pure-glass-theme-no-smoke.html#post432715 mixed with the Hi-res icons used in this particular Metamorph theme, and all indicator colors (the fugly green) changes to the color RGB 158:180:255, and all that slapped with a blue themed Market and customized clear icons for Google Scoreboard, Pandora, SportsTap, Calendar (already in theme though, but I want the color too), gTasks....

Lol, I ask a lot don't I? Still, I'd be willing to pay for this result. I'd pay even more on a tutorial on how to readily (and easily) change the colors I want in both icons as well as system menus so that I can finally have my DROID looking the way that I want....

hmm.. I am not sure about that now either
Here are my stats..
did a small amount of web surfing and had a total of 11min in calls for today

According to this I still have 60% battery too..

This is slightly different than the one I got which was Nextheme V1.9R3 - Cm Droid V5.0.4.

The Market icon is not themed as shown in your screenshot for example and the phone icon is different, but I like your's better. Little differences...just FYI

I am applying 1.94 now. I previously tried, but mistakenly used the apply all - and couldn't figure out why it was not getting fully applied.

Now I know lol.

i like the rom, has a few bugs but it also has potential so i will be keeping it, the guys over at alldroid have more or less said forget the sense ui port from nexus and are now doing an incredible sense ui port and it should be A LOT easier

the point i am trying to make haha, is that i will be going to that rom when its done, but this will hold me over til it gets closer
