Hi Guys! This thread is Awesome! I came across it last week and had to join yesterday to get in on the convos.

So I see that the thread was getting off topic a little, maybe this question will help bring it back.

I am pumped about The Incredible coming out and the specs are siick!

Not being tooo tech savvy (although I have learned a great deal on this thread) I would like to ask you guys what this phone is really capable of doing??? Sure, it's fast and has an 8mp camera, but what REALLY excites you guys about this phone, that an average user may not be exited about???

Layman's terms please. lol.
Thanks!:D

I absolutely love the design of it.
Especially the back. I didn't like it when the first pics leaked of the glossy red back but the new back is awesome.

Its also one of the best spec phones to date and i personally think it will be better than the Nexus One.

Also its on Verizon :P

You guys think we will get anymore leaked pictures or video between now and March 23rd or do you think it's going to slow down quite a bit?
Doubt it. The leaked pictures we have from NKT are the test units, so unless you are the CEO of HTC/VZW or the like, you will not be seeing anything else. We may very well being seeing the production unit.

IMO, I don't really mind not having any more pics/videos. The specs are what really mattered to me, and in that area, the Incredible really seemed to have excelled.

I certainly hope this isn't considered off topic. I think the specs are pretty much nailed down on the Incredible at this point and we are all waiting. For most of us I believe this will be THE phone. Of course some discussion has occurred with regard to timing and comparisons with other phones...eg. Nexus One. Many of us are here ready for the Incredible because we wanted a smart phone on Verizon that could compete or beat the iPhone. Now that iPhone is reportedly coming to Verizon...what would this do to your plans for the Incredible? How do you think the Incredible would hold up against a new iPhone? Seriously, I'm not trying to take this down a different path. I think the decision to buy the Incredible will definitely be influenced by what else is available from the same carrier. An iPhone 4G could be a game changer. Would you stand on principle with the Incredible? Do you think it would make you hesitate or wait? Those of you in the know...do you think the Incredible will be too hot for it to make a difference? Any thoughts?

lol yeah that back cover is pretty smooth, i like the red accents. Specs are awesome for sure, I just want to know what the people are this thread are gonna do with it!! lol..everyone's got me juiced!

I work for Big Red, no one has said a WORD about this phone...I think I'm the only one who talks about it..lol

Exactly my thoughts, which seems to pretty much confirm NKT's speculations of an April/May release, and most of our speculations of the N1 being sold through Google only. I'm sure the latter is going to disappoint a few. Luckily, the Incredible will be my phone of choice, as I'm on a family plan, which means I'd have to pay the "higher" discounted price on the N1

Incredible looks to be my phone of choice as well. I don't need the family plan (my dog's grounded from using the cell phones) but I do have my NE2 for $100 that will certainly come in handy buying the new phone. On top of that is the horrible sales and service model that Google has going and the choice is easy for me. The April/May timing is coming in just under the deadline I personally gave Verizon to release a phone I wanted. My NE2 was up last month and my 2 year contract is up in May so if they didn't release a phone by then I was going free-agent and looking for the best deal with whatever carrier had a phone I wanted. Figuring the June/July timeframe for Supersonic and I might have been willing to go to Sprint. In my mind while Verizon does have the best network, I think the market and hype it really well so that is seems better than the others than it really is. I've had T-Mobile and AT&T here before and to be honest they had better reception at my house than Verizon. Beyond that their map hypes coverage just to the south of me where I know for a fact that none of the carriers have coverage there so that just confirms to me the fluff in their network map.

You know, good question. I have been contemplating this all weekend. I am new to whole smart phone scene, so I hold no loyalty to either platform. I was originally attracted to the iphone, and never thought it would come to Verizon. So, I was doing research on the best alternative which would seem to be the Incredible. I have extremely mixed feeling about phone choice now. BUT as for the iphone coming to Verizon this year -- I will believe it when I see it! I wish someone could do an objective iphone versus Android comparison thread!

I used to want the iPhone to come to Verizon, but I think Android has matured enough that it's the better platform if you truly want to customize your phone.....I hope Verizon never gets the iPhone and let the fanboys clog up AT&T's network.

I like it because it is the first real device that appeals enough to me to leave Apple which I am looking for a good excuse to do. I can't wait until Android makes it onto laptops!

So what are you going to do with this phone, aside from making call!? C'mon ppl, give me some techy answers..lol..:D

Google voice's integration means you can use that number for you main phone # and have it ring to multiple phones (land lines, and cell phones) and even have it ring to skype on your pc.

Note: you don't need android for this, but android's integration really helps to complete the system, by using your GV # as your outgoing phone number.

The short version is Android is infinitely more open than iPhone OS which means you get more choices but also means you'll have more, not necessarily malware, but programs that just aren't really optimized and may be battery hogs or memory hogs(ahem YouMail!).

On the other side iPhone OS in its "crippled" state by comparison vs Android also means it prevents those same programs from ruining the user experience. The fact that you can't multitask on the iPhone is good in bad.

Overall, I prefer Android because it seems less "sterile" and conformist than iPhone OS does. It welcomes creativity.

i'll do all the things my lg dare cant do that i always hoped it could do

Just as a heads up (and I know you are trying to keep it on topic), but Slug came through and deleted a LARGE amount of posts (twice) because people kept discussing the iPhone. Our thread is most likely going to get regulated on again if it gets out of hand. Probably better fit as a different thread all-together.:)

I am just afraid that Apple is going to kill Android before it matures enough! And it seems like everything these days has an iphone app as opposed Android apps.

Well I'm going to sync email and calendar with my Exchange server at home so that I important to me and one of the reasons I'm interested in Sense. Besides that I'm hoping for an app to be available to remote desktop into my home PCs as well. Having a decent camera readily available is always a good thing too. Oh and I'll pair it to my bluetooth headset in my motorcycle helmet to stream music as well as make phone calls when needed. That actually brings up one thing I hear is still lacking in Android, the ability to voice dial through bluetooth. Can't believe that isn't included. Anyone know if Sense adds that? That would be sweet!

Whoa, niiice! So all I would need to do is set up Google Voice, right??

What I really want is a phone that acts as my laptop when I don't feel like carrying my laptop around all the time. I want something I can replace my laptop with as far as portability. I don't fully expect to be able to sell my laptop and only have my phone but a bigger screen, better on-screen keyboard, better camera, more functionality, bigger battery, etc. would be a welcome alternative.

On a side note I'm surprised that the 5MP camera in my Eris takes such lousy pictures which makes me realize that an 8MP camera in the Incredible is going to be only slightly better. There won't be a phone for a long time that replaces a dedicated digital camera and i'm ok with that as long as the phone does other things well.

PS: I don't mind carrying around a spare battery(take a hint Apple!).

Unless they majorly change iPhone OS then I still think Android is a whooole lot better. The way you can customize it and everything else you can do with android is worth way more then the "extra" apps the iphone has. Also the Incredible has better specs then the iphone does.

And it looks amazing....

I tend to agree...a bit more excited about the android possibilities. AND...I'm diggin the specs on this phone. Who wants to have the same old stuff. Still...the iPhone is very user friendly....most people that have them love them. I don't think I could wait until the rumored June date anyway.

The Gadget Expo tomorrow in Austin is part of SXSW. I work...so I can't go...but someone else on here said they were going to attend. HTC will have a presence there....so it's "possible" we could hear more. On the other hand...unless it's an official launch...we might not hear even an insinuation of things to come. Seriously looking forward to this phone...hopefully by early April! :D

I actually see the opposite happening. I think Apple is going to find a bunch of their patents get invalidated under the scutiny of trying to press them. That will leave them in a weaker position than they are in now and moreso open the flood gates for others to build phones even more like the iPhone in nature but better.
